  • Should we prioritise our happiness now or in the long-term?
Some people see happiness as cumulative and believe that working towards long-term goals will make us happier in the future. Others see happiness as fleeting and believe 'living in the moment' will help us thrive right now, rather than postponing it.
At this special event, psychologist Dr Lora Park will share her expert insights relating to motivation and self-worth. She'll explore how our beliefs about happiness shape our everyday activities and how you can become more motivated in ways that support your wellbeing and relationships. She'll also explain how pursuing self-esteem can sometimes backfire and how to can develop a healthier sense of self-worth.
You'll have a chance to discover when it may be helpful to focus on long-term goals and when it may be better to live in the moment, without a sense of guilt or anxiety. And you'll come away with practical ideas to help you stay motivated and get more out of life.
This conversation with Dr Mark Williamson was recorded at a live Action for Happiness event on 23rd January 2024 actionforhappiness.org.

Just one last thought don’t expect anything from being vulnerable, sometimes if it is with the wrong person it can be very hurtful..

Happiness alongside self worth infuses positivity decreases our adrenal gland activity and has such positive impact on our health and wellbeing.
Dr Lora sending you positive vibes from a person on a journey of a diagnosis of aggressive melanoma a few years ago and now living life for the moment.
Life is a moment this is one lets take it and enjoy. We got this we can overcome this one step at a time one achievement at a time whilst being there for others and walking alongside them on their journey. So appreciative of the opportunity to keep moving forward and being their for others on their journey of looking for the self worth

27:48 Well that went off the rails fast. With the greatest of compassion for this young woman, the problem with live recordings is that the host needs to be ready to take tough decisions & action to keep the guests from hijacking the conversation with their own narrative... Just like this.

I found it very moving and entirely relevant. She was talking about finding 'relatedness' - connections to others in a very scary new situation. She was demonstrating vulnerability - the very thing she was just talking about. And she was talking about reconnecting to what is really important in life - the key to finding self-worth.
