- Victor Wembanyama is having a phenomenal season at both ends of the court. Not only is he leading the NBA rookie race but he is putting up the numbers to make a case for the Defensive Player Of The Year award. Are his numbers enough? Is Wembanyama de NBA Defensive Player of the Year?

First rookie in NBA history to win DPOY. It's not just the blocks. It's the presence alone that is striking fear in opponents.
Its going to be tough because of the team record but there’s no denying it, presence alone is a deterrent.

Bro! The spurs rank #4 in team defense with WEMBY On The Floor, vs close to (if not) dead last in defensive rating with him Off the Floor. Who has this much impact on their respective teams in the NBA other than WEMBY? Nobody! Case closed. WEMBY deserves DPOTY. Stats don't lie. It's not a team award, it's an individual acculade.
He 100% deserves it. He might just be the best defensive player in the league already but the reality is voters look at team performance and being last in the West is not helping Wemby’s case.
Only in the 2020s can a rookie with the worst record in the league win DPOY.
This will probably be the only exception because he is playing so dominant on defense.
I believe he would be in the conversation in any generation, the guy is special.
Only a 15 year old moron would look at a record of a player and say he can't win because his team is bad...but it's to be expexted
DPOY voters will look foolish to give to someone other than VW.
