Like you Scott i like my tents and i have owned lots but my favourite brand is Hilleberg and even though i have seen a couple of others that perform very well they are not tried and tested over the same period of time as Hillys. and the quality isn't as good and also i dont know what the reputation of the customer service is like and when you are throwing good money at a tent you want top notch backup to go with it and no quibble attitude . One aspect that a lot of the You Tubers are not pointing out is the amount of seams used and numbers of panels which are all areas that can potentially be vulnerable and weaken over time. When you think about the main living space of the Nallo and the Nammatj for example its one piece of material so if the seam ever did leak at least its in a spot that you could move away from. I have had 8 Hillebergs in total and currently down to 2 Hillys right now but still own a few other brands . I had Lucy make me a vestibule only footprint for my last Nallo and the same for my Namatj because the bathtub footprints are 70 denier and i have never had the slightest problem in all the time i have used Hillys ( had lots of wetting out issues with other tents though) but i do think its important to cover the vestibule area to aid condensation management especially on already wet ground. I have had 2 Nallos and i really liked them but after watching Scott on Lone Explorer when he mentioned that the Nammatj was only a cup of water heavier than the Nallo and its a black label with thicker poles i decided to sell the Nallo and buy the Nammatj which i think was a good idea and theres more room in it too. I also recently bought the Unna a couple of months ago and i have only been out with it 4 times so far and i have got to say that i am very impressed with its ability to effectively vent and so far i haven't had any condensation whatsoever which is something that i have only ever experienced with my Lightwave Sigma S15. The Unna is a 4 season tent and it can easily handle 30mph winds ( with its original 9mm poles but i wouldn't want to use it on summit camps in much stronger winds than that even using the thicker poles . I am not saying that it couldn't handle stronger winds i just think that Horses for courses is the best approach and theres a reason that brands make specific mountain tents with weight to match. Personally when all is said and done and hairs split , you get what you pay for and Hilleberg are not giving tents away to influencers which think speaks volumes. Good luck with the Nallo and i hope it suits your needs ATB and take care in them hills.
Thanks for that mate. A lot of really good information. Something that occurred to me today, the poles for the Halland are also DAC featherlight but I think 8mm so if I felt that I needed to double pole the Nallo I could use them. That would be 9mm and 8mm and the Halland poles are approx 250g for the pair so it's not a massive weight difference. The other option would be to buy some black label poles. Lots to think about for sure. I may also look at a vestibule only footprint for when I do the Fjallraven classic. I think I'll be moving my Vern1 on and Keeping my Soulo and Nallo.
Cracking tent the Nallo Scott. They do surprisingly well in the wind. If the direction changes though and starts hitting it side on, a good tip is to readjust the guy lines from the Hilleberg recommended 45 degrees and bring then straight out to 90 degrees, they will support the poles better at that angle. You can always add more lines if needed, like the 2 you’ve already added to the front vent. Another tip is that if you are getting driving horizontal rain hitting the front for prolonged periods, it might be best to bend the front vent hood in towards the door because rain can be forced through the black material eventually. ATB Jiffy 👍
I've got a 30 year old Nallo 2, it won't let you down.
Good to know.

@@HairyHiker2022 You're welcome ;)
Morning mate, looks like a good setup. Looking forward to seeing it out soon 👍🔥🇬🇧
I also thinking to buy the nallo 2. Great tent

Thanks for the tips. I picked up some more hilleberg guyline this week so I'll swap out the vent hood guys for hillie line.
Terrific looking tent! Do you think it's long enough for someone who's 6'3?
Kind regards and all the best!
Yeah I'd say it is. I'm 6ft 1 and I have room to spare.
the nordisk LW tents are great, but there is a penalty. cant go wrong with Nallo 2
Agreed. They are almost unfeasibly light for their size but as you say there's a penalty.
No footprint?
Not yet. Just ordered it today.
The Vern 1 is more like an Unna killer imo.
I don't really think it's an anything killer to be honest. It's a good tent. That's all.
