"I'm a 21st Century Digital Boy / I don't know how to live, but I've got a lot of toys." - The song is now 30 years old, yet its lyrics are more true than ever. 🙈
Man, I can't believe how tight these guys still sound in their 50's (I would assume.) I would just about have an aneurysm when I heard this song on the radio when I was 8.
@@MickeRamone What are you talking about? As far as I know the only difference between punk and punk rock is that punk is an abbreviation of punk rock.
What I like in Bad Religion is that they are, for sure, the best punk band when it comes to melody. Their songs have such strong vocal melodies, which isn't that common in punk music.
Stranger is my favorite BR album, and among my top five albums of any band ever. 21st Century is an absolute classic, and somehow grows ever more worryingly accurate with each passing year.
So, I live in a garrison town. As I write this, the US pullout from Afghanistan happened just this week. I see a lot of stunned faces around town and at my local VA. A lot of lost looks. A lot of 'what the fuck was it all for?' expressions. These veterans ARE the '21'st Century Digital Boys'... many were born after 9/11. And for every one of them, their lives are divided between who they were and how they lived before then and whatever the fuck it is they're up to now. I know what that's like. I did a 'long walk in the woods' in Central and South America during the Reagan era. As someone who grew up on Punk and alternative, BR's lyrics ring even more true right now than they did way back when.
I just heard a few songs with them but i remember i thought the former blonde guitarist was cute when i was about 17...😂😂 and at first i thought one of them was Bruce Springsteen and then the same person ....i Think in drunk😂😂😂

And in the 21st century everybody in the crowd is holding up their cellphones to film instead of headbanging to the music...

So true. Almost Hawkwind sounding.

Punk didn't die. It just became quite old...

All of the phones out. They don't even notice the message.
Prophecy Fulfilled!
I still haven’t been informed of what a “professional homeowner” is!
The song was prophetic, with the turn of the century most (re)creation became digital and is proving to turn out fools across the board.
