How to use Materials and paint 3D objects in Procreate

The Procreate 3D model pack can be downloaded for free from inside the app, with compatible devices running Procreate version 5.2.
Within an active canvas, tap 'actions'.
Then tap 'help'.
Then tap 'what's new'.
Then tap 'model pack' to download.

It would be very useful to be able to select individual faces to isolate on a model like in substance, instead of breaking up the model before importing. Especially for hard surface models. Works great, thanks

Would it be possible to add a feature where you can lock the perspective you are in?
Like having a 2D fov from the front-view, back-view, top-view, bottom-view etc.

How do you draw on the 3d model? I did the little square and tapped on a layer but I still can’t draw on it..

UV Unwrap (or smart uv project if you wanna do that super fast) it in your 3d software, before exporting it. Or if you've got a 3d model from a site make sure it says it's already UV unwrapped.

How do I draw on it? I tapped on a layer and I still can’t draw on it pls help me
At first, I was excited about being able to paint on 3D. But hen, I recalled my experience with TopHatch’s Concept evolution. Earliest versions easily supported non-vector drawing. But not now. 3D in Procreate? I am nervous that Savage is headed into a mishmash of the same sort where “painting” controls wind up less polished or abandoned.
-PS: I am still excited about the 3D options, recognizing as always that Savage values putting their best out the door.
Every time my daughter tries to paint on one of the 3D models they model does not stop moving. Is this where the pencil comes in handy?

This would have been helpful when the update dropped, as it would have saved me some time and frustration fumbling my way through this. Nonetheless, this is appreciated so thank you. What I found confusing, it’s still a bit perplexing, is the use of black and white to affect roughness and metallic sheen. Why not have some dedicated sliders for these? If I haven’t played with aspect for a week, I have to mess with it all over again to figure out which color does what.

Alright, I found the manual now with a little searching. My fault. I personally find this step-by-step video to be more helpful to the way my brain learns but the more formats the instructions are available in, the better. 👍

Next update they should add a text organizer

Basically, you can only draw with the Apple Pencil, and you can only move with your finger. I’m afraid you’ll have to get an Apple Pencil.

I’m able to click the image and get ready to draw on it but every time I go to draw it moves the image around again, I’m very confused and don’t know why this is happening, all the videos I see use a Apple Pencil could it be because I don’t have one?

I don’t have an Apple Pencil, do you need one to draw on the 3D models? Because when I try to draw with my finger it just zooms in and out.
Ideally a stylus would be very helpful! If an Apple Pencil is out of the option, check out this link procreate.art/faq#supported for a couple other alternatives that may help 😇

Hi I have a 2020 generation ipad pro. And have it updated to ios 15,4. My procreate also has the 5,2 version. But the 3D features still don’t work on my procreate. When I try to import a obj file, it doesn’t matter what kind of model I want to import. It doesn’t let me import it. Does anyone know how to fix this problem

If you don't have an Apple Pencil, or can't use one, you can activate one finger painting by tapping Actions > Prefs > Gesture Controls > General > Enable 3D painting with finger. If you turn this on, you will need to tap-and-hold the Modify button on the brush slider to rotate your model.

@@Procreate I have An iPad mini 5. In The apple support app, The Generation says: IPad mini 5. And I still don’t know why and how it’s not working. Please fix it. And also yeah. When I Tap on the white can it Doesn’t allow me to draw on the can’s plastic skin. And it also it’s allows me the 2D Drawing. I don’t know why but I just Wanted to Paint the mesh, not just draw on 2D.
