Mine, for his first three years only said 'Miu?' like a person, chirped like a parrakeet and for the rest of his 19 year old life muttered curses under his breath sounding like an old geezer if he did not get his way. We still have recordings.
Cats make MORE sounds than assumed and they do 'bark'. Most cat issues are theowner's fault - like smell, etc. More former cat haters turn into cat LOVERS than I can count.

Cat's are crazy smart! We had a swing door (It's like a door with a wooden frame with iron mesh in the middle and a spring of sorts on top so it swings shut on it's own quite fast and with a bang) that lead to our balcony in my old house where we raised our cat and she figured out how to open that door on her own!! She would climb up to the top of the door by digging her claws in the iron mesh, push against the wall at the top with her head so that the door would open a tiny bit, quickly stick her torso through so that the door wouldn't swing shut and just squirm through and jump onto the ground inside the house. It was super cool. Natgeo at home 🤭

I was always around dogs from a really young age, so when I was about seventeen we were going to go adopt a second dog because our's was kind of bored throughout the day and had been around other animals (dogs, cats and I think a bird) in a foster home so we thought it would be nice to introduce another dog. I was allowed to choose the new 'dog', and we went to a shelter and I didn't make it past the cat room. XD Basically, I saw a giant tan, Garfield/Simba sized cat and I guess I got distracted trying to make him look at me (he meowed and turned the other way), I stood up and I felt something odd tap my shoulder, almost screamed, and when I turned around there was a cat with her leg stretched through the bars on her cage, paw out, kind of bent pointing towards herself. She looked at me, meowed and I have been her human for about eight years now. :3 Lol

Dogs have their own way of purring - it’s more of a groan/sigh. One of my dogs “purrs” whenever we rub her belly or pick her up to carry her 💜

I can see what Dave is trying to say because I also have cats. They do not bother to demand our attention. It is usually the people that demand for their attention. In my case, my cats ask for attention only when they want to eat but nothing else. Most of the time they just stare at my family and I, get closer to us, and do their own stuff. They have their own spaces.
In biology, the theory is called ethology or animal behaviour.. Jae you're so genius and logic

Cat person here who also had dogs for a while.
I had a cat, she had 2 kitties, they grew up with my 4 dogs. One of the kitties would stay as far as possible from the dogs and just stay by her mom's side. But the other kitty would literally behave like a dog. He would go out for walks with us and the dogs, he would play fetch, and literally hang out more with the dogs than with his mom and sister.

I was listening to episode 4 (the perfect circle one and if they are possible), and somehow they started talking about brain and heart transplants and if you are still you, -debating- arguing about if eating noises are good ASMR or if they are gross and aggressive (I agree with eric), and I was like "how did we get here?" And that is when the name fully clicked in my head. I knew the theory behind it, but at that moment it fully sunk in that this podcast is just Jae's way of talking about random things and spiraling into madness under the guise of it being about an actual topic

it's so acurate, i've been raise 5 cats for 19 years and one dog. my dog always freak out of the other dog it's because he try to "meow" but with dog voice in lower pitch. seriously, my dog eat whiskas everyday and act just like a cat. it's weird.

Surprisingly if dogs and cats live in the same place, the dog tends to learn from the cats behavior (it's like cats train the dog in some aspects, or that's something I noticed having two dogs and two cats) and indeed dogs don't learn to hiss, but they try to mimic the hissing or even the purrs from cats (or that's something only my dog does 😅😅😅)
Surprisingly this was very illuminating , let's think about it really if we put ourselves in the dog and cats position, us being dogs and cats being the environment we're living in right ?! So that means we're probabely doing what we're not supposed to do ,meaning we probabely don't know who we truly are , i don't know if i'm being clear , but let's think about that a little .
I love my Jack Russell Terrier named Draco Malfoy he is annoyingly handsome. Yah he is stubborn but he knows when I am sad he lets me take him as a pillow when I am sad. 😂💚
