Based on the fact that the fielders glove was smushed up against the right arm of the fan, and the fans right arm was behind his left arm, which the glove was on, and the ball hit his glove, and the fan was leaning forward, I’d say that the fielder had a heck of a shot of catching that ball.

Playing Watching Guts is pretty spectacular and Warehouse Games is hours of my week.... and I watch literally every breakdown and also all of the baseball and football media produced. Turns out Jomboy Media is all around exceptional! Top of my list tho.....its Zack.
Why do you think it was a HR? The guy was leaning out over the fence, and had his stomach on the fence and his arm was almost parallel to the ground, meaning it was a good 2' inside the field of play when he touched it. I get he's leaning to the side, but the ball was coming down pretty much where the LF was moving to. Clear case of interference.
I thought the rule was that if the fan interfered and the interference was in the field of play, then its an out.
Nah, an example why it’s not like that would be if a player hits a single/double into left field alming the wall and a fan reaches down that wouldn’t be right, a fan of the yankees for example could do that to the redsox on purpose to get an out! They could even wear redsox gear if they were smart about it 😂

Yes. That is the rule. The fan simply has to reach into the field of play and prevent the fielder from catching the ball. And “what might have happened” is not in the rule.

0:48 time mark: Regarding fan interference, Jomboy mistakenly says, “The rule states that if a fan interferes and it’s deemed it would have likely been caught, it is an out.”
Wrong. This is what MLB Rule 6.01(e) Spectator Interference Approved Ruling says, “If spectator interference clearly prevents a fielder from catching a fly ball, the umpire shall declare the batter out.”
The rule goes on to explain in the comments section, “No interference shall be allowed when a fielder reaches over a fence, railing, rope or into a stand to catch a ball. He does so at his own risk. However, should a spectator reach out on the playing field side of such fence, railing or rope, and plainly prevent the fielder from catching the ball, then the batsman should be called out for the spectator’s interference.”
Implicit in this ruling is the understanding that in order for the fan to interfere with the fielder catching the ball, the player has to have had a chance to make a play on the ball, i.e., COULD HAVE caught the ball (not WOULD HAVE caught the ball).

The fan is reaching out into the field of play so it's interference. You can tell it was still in the field of play because when he drops it, it falls well into the field of play and not on top of the wall or into the stands.
I was sitting 7 seats away from that interference call, got to watch it in real time and I knew immediately that it was gonna be called. It's tough to see from the provided angle but he was full on leaning over the fence.

The problems with your solution are 1) it doesn't only happen in the "home run area"... remember the Steve Bartmann fiasco was a foul ball... and 2) this is just part of baseball, and it doesn't NEED to be solved. There are already rules to deal with it.
