    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
    Helen Hirsch (Embeth Davidtz) describes to Schindler (Liam Neeson) what it is like to be the Jewish housemaid to Commandant Amon Goeth.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
    Based on a true story, Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List stars Liam Neeson as Oskar Schindler, a German businessman in Poland who sees an opportunity to make money from the Nazis' rise to power. He starts a company to make cookware and utensils, using flattery and bribes to win military contracts, and brings in accountant and financier Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley) to help run the factory. By staffing his plant with Jews who've been herded into Krakow's ghetto by Nazi troops, Schindler has a dependable unpaid labor force. For Stern, a job in a war-related plant could mean survival for himself and the other Jews working for Schindler. However, in 1942, all of Krakow's Jews are assigned to the Plaszow Forced Labor Camp, overseen by Commandant Amon Goeth (Ralph Fiennes), an embittered alcoholic who occasionally shoots prisoners from his balcony. Schindler arranges to continue using Polish Jews in his plant, but, as he sees what is happening to his employees, he begins to develop a conscience. He realizes that his factory (now refitted to manufacture ammunition) is the only thing preventing his staff from being shipped to the death camps. Soon Schindler demands more workers and starts bribing Nazi leaders to keep Jews on his employee lists and out of the camps. By the time Germany falls to the allies, Schindler has lost his entire fortune -- and saved 1,100 people from likely death. Schindler's List was nominated for 12 Academy Awards and won seven, including Best Picture and a long-coveted Best Director for Spielberg, and it quickly gained praise as one of the finest American movies about the Holocaust.

    This scene is beautiful. She felt so abused, worthless, and as though someone would dispose of her like a piece of trash at any moment. Neeson's character comforts her by confirming her individuality, beauty, and worth as a human being, and he kisses her forehead. That kind of a kiss was more gentle and reassuring, and it was meant to provide comfort and a loving respect, not physical affection. Just with that one small act, he reminds her, "You are a human being, you have beauty and self-worth, and you will be okay."

      He kissed her like her father probably did when her heart was broken as a child. There's a reality however harsh that she can't be shielded from. Though Oscar tries. The reassurances he gives Helen are the same that he gives himself. But, really Amon is a sociopath and he might not shoot her. But, then again Goethe might. The same as you might look at the sky and hazzard a guess about the chance of rain. It's arbitrary. So, Oscar gives her that kiss like a father or a cherished uncle. I'm rooting for you. I can't stop this. Or stay with you. But I'm rooting for you. And luckily, sometimes that's enough.

      Awkward as it might sound or seem my ex gf of 6 yrs who we both met at the worse moments of our lives who I loved her so deeply and I know she loved me at some point but I guess we aren’t meant to be cause she pushes me away but always randomly calls or visits me she is and will always be the love of my life and I miss her every day
      But I know she doesn’t feel the same for me as I feel for her and that we won’t end up together but I never yelled hit her or cussed at her I respect her so much that when she randomly visits I kiss her on top of her her head but i tried once to give her a kiss and she gave me the check so I just now kiss my hand and place my hand one her face usually on her cheek but I can relate to itch this scene cause it’s harmless but I just know females are like roses no matter what shape color they are sensitive and delicate and beautiful

    I think the point is that you didnt have to be a saint to save someone. The choices we make, the actions we take define us, motivations aside. But she and Fiennes developed a warm friendship, often writing letters to one another and calling each other on their birthdays until she passed away in 2008. We always say how as the world gets rough, we have to act tough but so many of us, instinctually crave that human touch, maybe to feel whole again. And perhaps thats how this woman felt, after so much time being treated as a play object by an evil man. Perhaps she felt some faith in humanity from Schindler.

      Ronnie Bishop Satan hates Jews because God use them to carry His Word and birth the Saviour of the world Jesus (Yeshuah in Hebrew) Messiah. Satan brainwashes people into hating them for no good reason. Notice their reason makes no sense. It is satanic influence. No person of the Living God could hate the true Jews (not fake occultist Jews). I bless and pray for them and I bless Israel, God's footstool.

    • @mrdiplomat9018
      @mrdiplomat9018 6 лет назад +6

      Ronnie Bishop Because it’s Satanically inspired. God has a plan for them at the end of time, and Satan knows that if he can promote the hated/killing of the Jewish people , there’s a chance that God’s end-time plan will be thwarted. Read the Bible, it’s all laid out for you to see. God also warns those that persecute the Jews will not prosper. Ever wonder why the British empire went downhill after WW1? It’s because God removed His hand from them after the Balfour declaration. Look that one up.
      God says (of the Jewish people) “I will bless those that bless Israel, and curse those that curse Israel.” This is found in Genesis 12:3....take it to the bank, folks. God will not tolerate ANY people or nation that threatens Israel, period‼️ Like it or not, that’s the way it is and always WILL be...until this world is no more. 🎯🗽

Just had to share cuz my mind is blown after I just realized from your comment it’s that lady who played ms honey damn

    The compassion Oskar showed for a servant girl/prisoner was unexpected from a member of the Natzi party, as this sort of thing probably never happened with anyone except Schindler. He was among the greatest of histories humanitarians.

    I don’t understand why spielburg portrayed Amon goeth as having desired the maid who actually is a composite of 2 maids he had - Helen Hirsch and Helena Jonas Rosensteig . There is a detailed testimony of Helena and she was asked if Amon Goeth had sexual affinity towards her and she categorically said no and that he hated Jews and that such a thought was out of the question for him and he subjected her to countless beatings and verbal abuses . I wish Spielberg had stuck to the real testimony and truth .

    It seems that not all scoundrels are scoundrels, and that not all dreadful people are dreadful. Sometimes, when the most absolutely appalling circumstances are inflicted, those people we considered as being base or crude, prove to be the most heroic, and the most accepting of the fate we allow them to partake in our stead.

      I don't know factually but the film portrays to me they were comrades. Not friends. And as the war went on and schindler was empathic, he chose to use his charisma to get goeth to sell him his Jews . You can call it manipulation tactics but it worked. Friends don't do that.

      Yes there was the real Helen said Schindler was a very good friend of his she saw them embracing she heard Oscar call him Moony which was his nickname which I think nobody else other than his wife used I also read I think it may have been testimony if I remember correctly but one of the survivors said he was doing something in the camp to do with the prisoners and someone came up to him and told him Schindler was at the villa and he immediately dropped what he was doing and went straight there to see him it’s almost fascinating how one so compassionless could get along well with one so
