Mike Akers ought to have featured in this film. Where was he? Why does no one mention him? As much as devised work is created in the room, it still requires the skill of a dramaturg/writer to collate and edit and write and refine the material into a workable script. This production of Jane Eyre is a wonderful piece of work, but this film makes it seems as though Sally and the actors have created the material 'single-handedly', when in fact Mike Akers and Sally and the actors and everyone else in the room played a part in its creation. Please let's not forget "writers in the room" and "dramaturgs" - they are integral to this kind of work and so often overlooked in favour of the romantic idea that the actors just make it up and then there's a play.
