    thank you Michael -- you are exactly correct -- many of these businesses will pressure you to sign up in one of the most expensive zones -- and claim you won't be able to get banking without forming in that pricey zone -- and meanwhile they say substance isn't a big deal or required, nor a residential lease.
    So you'll be paying a good 10 thousand with those kind companies just to form... and you could've just opened a RAK freezone company or something less expensive like that and used the money towards creating real substance there -- which actually makes the real difference I think.
    So they are taking advantage IMO, and misrepresenting what actually matters to the banks, because they know they cannot profit off you forming substance, but they do profit off you choosing an expensive dubai zone. Sneaky stuff.
    Would you say the most important factor is having an office? Or having a residential lease to show the bank?
    Because renting a home in dubai is not cheap. And there's laws there apparently not allowing people to sublet -- therefore if you rent, and then want to leave dubai most of the year -- you cannot even make use of that rental by renting it out to someone else -- or so i heard.

      My experience is the most valuable thing you can do is get a residential address. It's not always necessary (to be fair you could get accounts without it or bank outside of UAE but if I was going to choose 1 thing I'd get a residential address).
      If you won't be there much usually go for a far out small apartment.

    It is also worth mentioning that not all free zones allow every business activity. Often, finding the best matching business activity from their list can require some creativity and research. Some free zones are also specialised. As a foreign exchange speculator (with my own money and no clients), I could only think of two free zones that directly offer exactly that business activity. Thinking a little further, I could of course consider the activity of a single-family office or, of course, a holding company if all I want is a visa to live/get residency in the UAE.

    Great video. We took the plunge and moved our business to Dubai this year, and let me tell you, it's been a serious headache. Dealing with the whole process of starting or shifting a business here is way more complicated and annoying compared to what we're used to in the Western countries. You can't just buy an LLC like you can back home; it involves a bunch of confusing paperwork and details. But, even though it's been really frustrating, it's starting to pay off because we don't have to pay any taxes anymore, and Dubai is just an incredible place. Luckily, we stumbled upon a company that helps with setting up businesses; otherwise, I think we'd be stuck trying to figure everything out on our own for ages.

    I am looking to see if Dubai FZ is a good option for my business?
    I have a consulting company in Europe. Due to shortage of talent & cost, we want to recruit in South East Asia, working remotely for clients (Covid made this acceptable). But the hassle of setting up a legal entity in multiple countries is too high and I am wondering if a Dubai FZ company be a good option, where we can issue legal contract for Remote hiring e.g. in Sri Lanka or India? Our expected number for 2023 is hiring around 10-15 people through the Dubai FZ company (assuming it is possible). I should also add, in the near-term, we will not be providing services in UAE.

    Good information. I am just in the process of considering do this. I spoke with someone from Businessspace at the Expo last week. If I have several business ideas do I need more than one license? Also, with the license I am afforded UAE visa/ID and can then lease an office so that opening a business banking account would be easier. Is that correct?

    Hi
    I am writing to inquire about the types of visas that are available for individuals who want to live and work in Dubai.
    To provide some context, I am a UK resident who currently has a home office and is interested in moving to Dubai. I want to be able to work remotely and maintain my home office, but also obtain a residence permit so that I can rent a property and open a bank account in Dubai. I am interested in exploring all of my options, including remote visas, nomad visas, and free zone visas, and I would like to have access to all of the facilities that Dubai has to offer.
    At the same time, I want to avoid paying taxes in Dubai, if possible. Could you please provide me with information on the different types of visas that would allow me to do this? Specifically, I am interested in learning about the visa requirements, conditions, and eligibility criteria for each option.
    Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

    Semi-deep thought: If a person goes (with their money) to a place where important and many other wealthy people go to. Shouldn't behind the scenes powers keep those places relatively free? Compared to what might happen to just hanging out in middle-class locals, with a big target on your money and not enough allies around to create safe harbor conditions?

      What do you mean with "free". Like - do you think a wealthy person thinks in terms of "if I avoid this 5000 USD I am richer, even though I may have to pay taxes?". Contrary I would say that certain things CAN be more complicated as long as they do not go substantially in the way. I.e. some paperwork that someone hired can handle.

      @peaceonearth8693 3 года назад +1

      @@MichaelRosmer I mean if Authoritarian political parties, and colluding controlling forces were to exact a lot of control on a society. Similar to China's example of a social credit system, where if you aren't approved you can't even buy bus fare with your e-currency. I mean, if a countries fiat currency collapses, would another currency like say Swiss Francs be available to you? That kind of lack of freedom or access to freedom.
      I would suspect that if a person could go where the powerful people find refuge, then one would be better off for having freedoms.
      So, relating to my original question. Would a person be better off trying to shoot for living in UAE or Switzerland or maybe Singapore. Versus somewhere regular? I notice in N.Z., Australia, Thailand, Europe, USA they lock down the societies pretty quick. Sorry for the long post.

    • @OffshoreCitizen
      @OffshoreCitizen  3 года назад

      Yeah I'd say other people are definitely an indicator, though it's never a one dimensional factor so it's important to watch for that.
      For instance a lot of UHNWIs are moving to Australia so should you go there? What does it tell you? These are often people moving from places like China so you've got to compare that.
      Also, note that these people don't necessarily know and might be responding to brand, which is why I think the share of people who go and stay is an interesting data point.
      Good contrast here is between Panama and Cyprus. I see tons of people who move to Panama but almost none who stay. By contrast, most of those I know who move to Cyprus seem to stay... Interesting data point.

    • @peaceonearth8693
      @peaceonearth8693 3 года назад

      @@OffshoreCitizen Yes, thank you for adding those points for consideration! Just goes to show that a person has to do some thinking and not just follow people's responses to brands. Another point that influences people I'm pretty sure, is historical reputation. A lot of people tend to think that Switzerland is still ironclad in bank secrecy, based on the old old days. Again, thanks much.
