Why is the lecturer giving muffled indistinct speech through a mask, when there is no person within many metres of her????

COVID is airborne and when you have a room full of people with closed doors, viral load goes up by the minute. Sure, if you have somebody sitting right behind you coughing away you'll get it first, but eventually we're gonna "spread the wealth around". Also, the lecturer is a he, I think you're referring to the intro? The lecturer himself is pretty easy to understand, despite the mask.

I wonder the same thing! It makes the video unwatchable, and the fact that the screen projections are not easy to see is frustrating. Makes me wonder what was the point. Granted the presenter was easier to understand and he was informative, but it is still extremely frustrating. Very sad...😢

Good lecture, poor video. A camera should have been positioned more centrally so that the slides could be seen from the front and larger (they only occupied 20% of the screen, if that). If that was not possible, since there was a camera on either side of the stage, at least more use could have been made of the right-hand one so that Dr. Hearn did not obscure his own slides. Some of them were not visible at all. This was an art history lecture!

Yeah, that was an odd arrangement in an otherwise great lecture.

Doing talks with masks on? Nah, will give this a miss.
