That's how the bow is supposed to be. U just need to adjust your arrow spine/length/point weight
If that is how it’s suppose to be, what do have to say to the people who are reporting their black hunter is cut past center?
@@greatplainsbow There's no doubt the 100$ Chee Na bow is inconsistent. But that's why u tune your arrows to your specific bow.
@@NWAHNTR There is some validity to what you're saying, but only to a certain extent. Arrows are tuned to a bow primarily by draw weight. There is definitely consideration given to the location and parameters of the shelf and side plate, but compared to the draw weight and limb profile it is minimal. A few of my customers request me to cut the side plate left of center stating that a center shot bow causes them to hit right of the target for a right handed bow. The vast majority however prefer a centershot cut. No amount of arrow tuning will cause the arrow to paradox enough around a left of center cut to hit spot on when sighting directly down the arrow shaft. So to reply to your first comment, that is incorrect. The side plate cut is very important to accuracy and consistency regardless of a perfectly tuned arrow.
Yep... precisely why self bow makers don't have to cut an arrow shelf into their bows.
Center shot just lets you get away with being a bad/lazy arrow maker. Lol
@@CloudfeatherRusticWorksI second this, my asaitic bow with the right spine arrows are just as accurate as my friends compound xD nusensi has a video of his terkish archer friend shooting an unfletched arrow at 50M, took him 2 shots, the sond hit, cause his arrows where spineed right for the bow, no center shot cut there
For people saying you can just shoot a lighter spine, I had a Black Hunter that was 50lbs at my draw length of 28, I was shooting 500 spine arrows with 250 up front and arrows were still hitting stiff. I guess I could have got some 600s, but my other 50lb bows that were cut to center shot 400 spine arrows dead in the bullseye. Bows that are not cut to center need a much lighter spine, even then they are way more difficult to tune
Yep
A traditional bow without sights is expected to be tilted. The tilt corrects the left misses for a right handed shooter.
I have been out of the bow hunting public for couple of decades, do to back injuries. Doctors tell me the drawing motion will only make the injuries worse, I would love to try a recurve again. I pulled out my recurve from the 70's and discovered stress cracks. I am amazed at the price of these bows today I am learning that I will probably look into a crossbow, love the Excalibur recurve design
Do it man, that's what they make crossbows. it'll get you in the field or shoot archery good luck God bless
Find an osteopath, tell your case, ask for a miofascial release on all the hips area. Research about DMSO, do some Pilates classes to your injury, to learn how use your core. That fixed 95% os my back problems, which are the 3 last lower back discs totally busted.
You can shoot a lighter spine too
You might be pulling the knock of the arrow to the right when you release, causing the point of aim to shift left when the string is released.
No
In the case of noncenter bows use heavier points and or lighter spine arrows and you will get a centerline shot
China bows can vary a way bit in the quality control to say it so.
I have this same bow I had this same issue, I fixed it differently though, I moved my face into the bow further so the string brushes as i release and I have to make sure my eye is directly over the arrow, I also have a striker plate installed, that fixed my issue but when I don’t make sure I’m directly over the arrows path I’ll miss left
That's the fix. I can't not the bow but my body in combo with slouching t help me lean my head over to get proper sight alignment (without sights of course)
That explains it
That's strange. My black hunter riser is actually cut -0.06". The riser is 25 16ths wide (1.56") and my shelf WITH a piece of leather on the strike plate is 11/16" (0.69") from the right.
Yeah they all are different it seems, but most of them are positive of center
@@greatplainsbowSadly also applies to draw weight sometimes...always measure your bows draw weight after buying to ensure it's at the draw weight as advertised, maybe a few pounds off is acceptable but 5-10+ and that's no bueno.
@@greatplainsbowI'm about to get a black hunter ngl, i'm not super experienced in archery but i learn fast and the one I have now is at a weak 35#
Getting me a 60# not using sights.... releasing off the seat, no finger guard or release....maybe a forearm strap, thumb behind the ear... Howard Hill here i come
@@Eat_My_Bum yes! Go for it! You'll love it!
@@greatplainsbowHaha thanks bub!
You do a great job restoring bows that i can respect:-)
Its center shot if you kant it a bit
Why do people say not to leave your recurve strung
Define centre shot please. Is it cur to center of bow, ie the string plane is where the shelf ends; or is it cut beyond such that the center of arrow is on string plane?
Center shot is cut beyond center placing the center of the arrow in the center of the string
@@greatplainsbow thanks, this must make it a bit more forgiving on short drawing (as i sometimes do in hunting situations) my arrow ‘looks’ stiff. I think ill carve my handle down to achieve this. Thoughts?
@@TradBowEd go for it! It's easy to do and you'll be amazed at the difference
Just grab a samick sage if you are on a budget. Mines great. I shoot bare and i love it and because its cheap you dont have to treat it like a baby. Honestly, pretty damn good.
Canting the bow will change arrow impact.😊
Do you know the width of the those limbs at the fattest end
1 5/8"
@@greatplainsbowthanks, I ordered a pair for a metal riser I have. They'll fit perfect.
Good👍
Just picked up a new samick sage 45lb right hand. I've been shooting an old Hungarian horse now with no shelf for yearssss. First outing with the samick I kept hitting low and right. Anybody know what causes this? Everytime I tried to correct higher and more left it went way left.
Bear hair rest set install that and see what's up. 10 bucks.
is QC on the mk ii any better?
Not sure on that, but usually as the price goes up the quality gets a bit better
@@greatplainsbow gotcha thanks
It looks like a black hunter and they are cut past center
Once in a great while they are. The vast majority aren't
Don't am off fix the spine
What does "don't am off" mean?
@@greatplainsbow aim* sorry
Are you not aiming to the right (off target) to get them to hit left?
@@cameronprior6190 that's right. A properly spined arrow goes a long ways in correcting bows that aren't center shot and can be gotten used to by any archer in order to become deadly accurate, however there is no substitute for a true centershot bow. It gives the bow many more advantages for example a centershot bow will be able to shoot a much larger variety of spine strengths and is able to be micro tuned to very high accuracy. Also a centershot bow is much easier for a beginner archer to have quicker accuracy success as it isn't as hard to find the absolutely perfect arrow set-up for consistent arrow accuracy
Compound shooter explaining traditional bows.. lol
No your shooting wrong trad bows you shoot on a 45 angle not st8 up and down its not a compound or a target bow its more a hunting bow i have this bow and i have no worries hitting where i want and its a good bow
Trad bows can be shot vertical or canted. If the bow isn't cut centershot you will have to allow for that by canting it or however the archer wants to
It’s a sub $200 bow. Deal with it.
I’ve seen tat grouping, tight like a tiger, but left, left, left! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!
