    You can't compare Muldoon to Owen. Owen basically learned from Muldoon's mistake. The incident that happened in the first movie was famous by then everyone knew what happened. Muldoon also needed to separate from Ellie since they need the power on to call for help if they were caught at the generator room with three raptors there no one would be getting off that island. But I get where you guys are coming from.

      Alucard actually he does, it’s just the actor for Muldoon( bob peck) was diagnosed with cancer half way through the making of Jurassic park ( not sure which type) so he demanded that he was given a death scene because he accepted that he was eventually going to die. The reason he wanted that death scene is because he didn’t want the movie to recast another actor in a sequel, which would provoke confusion since he’d look different. Unfortunately he did die in 1999 so he could of come back for the lost world. So In short the reason that scene was poorly written is because it was last minute due to medical reasons

    Muldoon wasn't a raptor expert to begin with. Just because Hammond says he was doesn't mean shit because Hammond bullshitted everybody about everything the whole time they were there. He was actually severely delusional because he actually believed the bullshit he was saying until shit hit the fan. Muldoon had a background in hunting predators before going to work for Hammond at Jurassic Park. He wasn't a dinosaur expert, let alone a raptor expert. Hammond hired him because he foolishly thought a badass predator hunter with a gun was enough to protect the place. Muldoon's only experience with Raptors was his experience with them at Jurassic Park. Dr. Grant was a PhD dinosaur expert who was obsessed with raptors and studied them for years. That's why he knew how they hunted. Muldoon also let Arnold go because he didn't know the raptor fences were disabled. It wasn't until Arnold was gone for a long time that he knew Arnold probably got eaten and he'd have to assist Ellie to get there safely. When he walked outside he was surprised to find out that the raptor fences were disabled. If Muldoon knew that stuff before Arnold left he probably would have offered to escort him there the first time.

      Not to mention they are comparing him to Owen is completely unfair. Owen learned from the first park's mistakes. This was a whole new world. Muldune didnt imprint on the raptors, and they werent raised with humans. They were bred on Isla Sorna and transported to Nublar. They had to go through those lengths to keep themselves safe.
      It didnt get bad until the "Big One" showed up. Which was right before JP1 happened. She showed up, killed the gate keeper, and after that killed 5 other raptors. She then had the raptors attacking the fences, and the feeders.
      She was a blood thirsty rogue, and Muldune hadnt had much time with her. He (speculating) was trying to get Hammond's approval to put her down, but Hammond wouldnt consent to it.

      Jackson Flowers I agree with some of what you said, except the part that he's not a raptor expert. Yes he doesn't have experience with dinosaurs until he was hired for Jurassic park but this isn't like his first day, Muldoon has been working for the company for years so technically he had plenty of time to study the raptors behavior. Also the reason he got outsmarted is because he was killed by a raptor rogue, he hadn't have enough time to study the behavior of that raptor as it's different from the others. Also to curt Edwards, Owen was lucky for the raptors to imprint on him, in one of the latest fallen kingdom trailers it showed camera footage of him playing with the raptors and accidentally gave the raptors an order and they listened. It wasn't that Jurassic world chose him to train the raptors, it was all coincidence.

  • @Provos7777

    Muldoon was a hunter not trainer. And in canon these animals had been around for study for over 20 years by the time jurassic world comes out.

      Very true. But with due respect to Muldoon, could have used the trees for aerial view of the raptor location, since they cannot climb, he could have been safe buying himself enough time to be rescued.

    • @ghostmadlittlemiss
      @ghostmadlittlemiss 3 года назад +2

      @@AkshayKumar-zd4tk He didn’t know they can’t climb. And his raptors ran at least 10 mph faster than the JW raptor squad, which were deliberately redesigned to be more obedient (a tiny bit).
      So how on Earth was he meant to get up a tree with a SPAS-12 with no shoulder strap without them grabbing him first?
      Edit - Just rewatched the scene and his gun did have a shoulder strap on it, he just chose not to use it in the opening scene for some reason.
      I'm from the UK so I don't really know anything about guns. I'm sure he had a good reason for putting it down instead of using the strap.

    In the first park, raptors were never intended to be trained. Muldoon wasn't a trainer, he was a warden (definition: manage the wildlife, if it does something management doesn't like/kills people, kill it). He's not the head of security at Jurassic Park either. During the T-Rex rescue, smartest thing to do to hurry along the doughnut brained Ellie Sattler, who decides that finding another car is more important than not ending up as dogmeat (They had Malcolm patched up anyway; in the book it was muldoon who swiftly deducted that there had been survivors). Knows all the dangers of the park. Correct, he does. Jurassic park as a film accurately depicted the fact that management decided not to listen to people who actually knew what they were talking about, so he decided to let them learn the hard way (Reading the other books and seeing the other films shows clearly that Ingen has the mentality of "Managers in suits know best, everyone else is incompetent").
    The book does the actual character of Muldoon more justice. A grumpy, middle aged bugger with a whiskey addiction wielding a rocket launcher and hurling abuse at Ingen's managers when they're being stupid.

  • @ZawiszaTheBlack
    @ZawiszaTheBlack 7 лет назад +39

    Muldoon was right about killing them. Why?
    Because the Big One and her two friends have nothing in common with Blue and Blue's sisters. They were too agressive and dangerous, so InGen decided to move them to another, smaller paddock. Training them? Are you kidding me? xD
    Read about IBRIS project - InGen created another frmale, but she was so agressive they decided to kill her. Blue and team are much less agressive animals.

    To make one defence of his behaviour, he appeared to me to be sacrificing his life to save Ellie. He knew full well the raptors were hunting them and that if they both ran to the shed, they’d be chased and killed.
    So he banked on the fact that smart pack hunters would ignore unfamiliar running prey to stay on someone they knew considerably better and he was right.

  • @onbored9627
    @onbored9627 5 лет назад +4

    The point of the scene where he got eaten by the raptors was to show that even with everything he knew about raptors they still outsmarted him. Of course he knew how they hunted. That's why he wanted to kill the alpha female. He thought he was going to kill her and the others would then run scared. It's another metaphor for the main theme of the movie which is that no matter what we think we know we can't control everything. Even the smartest minds and most experienced hunters pale in comparison to the strength of these creatures. Also, in the book Muldoon was much more of a bad ass directly.

    • @bodoor8172
      @bodoor8172 4 года назад +2

      He knew nothing about their hunting behavior and thats exactly why he died in the movie, he never got a chance to observe them hunting, they were feeding them the same way how they would feed a lion. The point of his death is that you cannot control nature as despite these raptors being brought up in captivity they still had their hunting instincts. You can easily tell by the fact he was caught off guard, surprised but at the same time admiring her intelligence that he had zero knowledge about their hunting behavior. He found out the hard way.

Bob Peck died of cancer, aged just 53, in 1999, certainly much missed and 'remembered' by fans of his body of work.

    i also think he sacrificed himself to save Ellie. from the moment he saw the tracks, he had to assume they were probably being hunted. he had to to go into the trap because their destination was in the middle of raptor territory. "the trap" cld be anywhere. he cldnt exactly run out of it, neither one. he knew the raptors well enough to know that an attack was imminent. best solution was to draw the raptors off, tell Ellie to run like hell away to the breakers (and dont stop) and try to get within range to kill the one he could see, at least. muldoon knew that he was going to die, im sure. that's why he stayed in the building, like, "f this shit!" he wouldve died if he'd assisted arnold, too. trying to save him.

      Finally, someone else who agrees it was a deliberate sacrifice.
      That’s why he was dripping with sweat. He knew something was wrong, that that raptor was too still. He knew he only had moments to live, that’s why he was so slow with that stock, to keep their attention on him.
      Easily one of the bravest characters in the whole franchise. (That being said, I never spotted that he slipped in the rain before and I’ll never unsee that! Lol)

    The entirety of Jurassic Park was a chaos waiting to explote, with or without Nedry. Controlling dinosaurs is not that difficult as controlling xenomorphs, they are animals, thread them as such, not as monsters and everything would be fine.

    SPEAKING BRITISH: MuLdOoN's An IjJiT
    I know the video was just for fun, but a lot of Muldoon's "flaws" as they were pointed out here were how Hammond was managing things. Muldoon's job was literally Game Warden, not trainer/zoologist. The whole 1st generation version of the park was basically a dinosaur prison, and Muldoon's job was to keep them contained. For the security stuff, he clearly DID do his job (which wasn't even his responsibility) insisting there be locks on the vehicle doors, which Hammond obviously ignored (spared some expense). There are numerous examples in the novel of Hammond ignoring Muldoon's professional expertise because of his ego or wanting to cut costs. This video did get funnier after awhile...especially the socks bit...and it's funny to pick apart stuff from movies just for shits and giggles.

    Muldoon wasn't bad at his job, these were creatures that had never before been seen/studied, and the first scene in Jurassic Park illustrates why Muldoon say's they should all be destroyed, which I personally feel extends beyond just talking about the raptors. Muldoon is on edge the whole time, he knew these were not tamable like pets, which for whatever reason these newer films seem to be all about. The entire premise of the first novel, and film to some extent was to show why dinosaurs wouldn't co exist well in present society, but Owen is good looking and the raptors sense that, and trust, and whatever the fuck else these stupid screenwriters/directors want to inject into these new films.

    Maldoon should be saying “I’m very popular right now” while hiding in a pipe.
    Not “clever girl” before being pounced on.
    Either way, when you see a target it’s hard to pay attention to the ones attacking from the sides, plus they didn’t see them hunting, they saw them feeding and unlike in the movie, Alan wasn’t predictions guy and didn’t say “they attack from the sides” because looking at fossils doesn’t tell you how they behave…
    Simply put
    Maldoon is supposed to be an action movie hero
    And Alan Grant has magic prediction powers in the movie to despite the skeletal evidence, predict that a trexes vision is based on movement like a frog’s because of the DNA.

    Owen can control the raptors because Jurassic world is one of the worst movies this franchise had ever seen at that point, surpassed in stupidity only by its two sequels. Muldoon is not an idiot. He didn’t design the mechanism for transferring the raptors into the pen, thus the workers death in the beginning is due to negligent, poor design. Keep in mind that by this point, Muldoon had (presumably) been successful in transferring the previous and subsequent raptors into the pen using the same method, but this time went wrong, because the design of the cage had an inherent flaw he couldn’t control, just waiting to be exploited. He didn’t put locks on the doors because Hammond clearly didn’t want him to (presumably as a cost cutting measure). If he had been allowed to, he wouldn’t be complaining to Hammond about how many times they should have put locks on the doors. He didn’t want to stick around the Tyrannosaur paddock because it’s a Tyrannosaur paddock and THERES A TYRANNOSAUR. Trying to leave before the thing showed up again seems pretty smart to me, especially since he was smart enough to know that they weren’t likely to find Grant or the kids by that point. He lets Arnold go off on his own because by this point, they weren’t even sure the Raptors were out, so he perceived no danger. We see in a later sequence as Ellie switches the power back on that the Raptor enclosure is separately powered, so Muldoon would have no reason to believe it’s power was out just because the building lights came off. And he runs toward the Raptors, further into the jungle to provide a distraction for Ellie. He knew he was at a high risk of death, which is why in his final moments, when the Raptors finally do outsmart him, he shows no fear. He only utters two words… “clever girl”. Muldoon is definitely not an idiot.

  • @LeoDomitrix
    @LeoDomitrix Год назад +1

    Um, he was a total badass in the book, and comparing him to "Owen" is ludicrous. Owen was frigging realistic as Tinkerbell in how he handled raptors. The only thing I found idiotic about Muldoon in the film was 1. he didn't live and 2. he didn't have his rifle stock locked before he went into the trees and 3. people thinking it's soooo easy to just make a big project work when you're dealing with a Nedry/Hammond. 4. Muldoon did know the raptors, but as a hunter. Not the same as what a paleontologist would *deduce*.
