So basically, it's like bisexuality except you're not attracted to both genders, you just view them as the same.

Tom's reaction - so authentic. Tom Clarkson and Burt Hummel (Glee) are actually really good role models for fathers of gay teens. Neither of them is easy about it, and they really try to not have to face up to the facts. But they both realise that it's THEIR duty to change, not their sons'. They both love their sons enough to let them be who they are.
I'd expect something better from Sam. She's the one who's usually so broad minded but even she has seems to have a problem with Josh being gay.
