I recognize many old faces here. Bud and Bonnie, Doron, Jack, Richard(of course), Kan, Mrs. Hatsumi, and I thought I saw Rumi and Larry Beaver in the back ground, too. VHS, a bit grainy. I'm sure Steve was there, somewhere. Thanks for the vid! Stay safe.
Yep, Steve was there. Nagato and Oguri as well. It was my first tai kai and i still have the VHS copy. I remember how starkly different 89 was from the 1992 Tai Kai in Atlanta. In that , in 89 there were several black belts in attendance but definitely in the minority. by 92 the vast majority of the participants were black belts and dozens were now GoDan's.
The t-shirts for that Tai Kai were awesome!
Was Sensai Dion Kalos there? I doubt it, he has moved beyond such spectaculars.
Ha ha Richard Van Donk from Mars. I wonder why he didn´t say " - Over and out!"
Well of course he's "crushing" his opponent when he's just standing around like a rag doll waiting to be thrown. Try that against a resisting opponent and see what happens...
Of course this is how demonstrations are done for instruction clarity and safety. Nobody learns to do anything by watching or using the fastest motions possible.
@@NinjutsuBujinkan The main problem is that the training is slow as well. I trained in three different dojos before I just gave up because of the lack of resistance, sparring and aliveness. I understand the demonstration part but far too many senseis wants to keep it slow because "if you can do it slow you can make it fast." Oh really? Have you ever seen mma fighters go suuuper slow just for demonstration purposes?
Not to mention P.J. in the wheelchair. Isn´t that what they usually call him?
