I’ve got a betta community tank with 3 bettas. It’s a myth that you can’t mix bettas. You can just as long as you only have 1 male. You can have 1 male and unlimited females. I have 3 1 big blue and red crowntail male and 1 koi female betta and 1 red female betta
Wayne I've been watching your videos for many many years I finally got into the saltwater game and I thank you so much for all your inspiration and this fantastic Hobby🐟🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠🐬🐬🐬🐬
Marian not true about the water flow , my betta loves it I catch him all the time swimming against the current having a blast he also sleeps on the pipe cause the vibration messages him to sleep .
You Have been very busy Wayne ! Good job on the chicken pen, best of luck on staying ahead of the predators. Nice fish as usual, cute little Bala Sharks..I just uploaded a video yesterday of one of my 150 gal tanks and the Balas in that are 8 inches long :) Keep the great videos coming mate !!
bettas and art sell imported betta In America. I'm an Australian show betta breeder so i don't shop in usa much but that's where I've heard you'll get them. or on aquabid. you'll need at least 5 in the tank to sort out aggression issues.
bettas thrive with plants in there with places to hide. With the aquascape you have going on right now, they cant evade each other at all because they are always visible. Also, you put this single betta in there. She is going to explore that tank and claim it as her territory. If you were to put in another betta, or multiple, the first girl is going to be very aggressive towards them and bully them. If you want to start a sorority, the best way to do that is by buying them all at once. Once they are in their transport cups, put them all next to each other for at least 30 mins so they can see each other. If you notice one is acting up, you need to put her back and get another one and repeat until you find the perfect match. They should not be interested in each other at all. Your best bet is by buying them all from the same litter so they are all siblings and have known each other. I dont know if you meant you were going to put a male in there with them. If you do, please dont. Females can live together just fine. But, if you put a male in there, there is going to be hormone exchanges and the aggression levels are amplified. This will result in bullying of the less dominant girls and in the male getting bullied. Males and females should only be kept together for breeding purposes and then separated again so they cant exchange hormones. Because when the female notices there is a male around, she starts producing eggs wich she wont get rid of, because she needs the males bubblenest. So she has to either reabsorb the eggs, or, if she cant do that, she will keep the eggs inside her body. The eggs will harden and make her sick and she will die. There is no solution to that case. Wild bettas can be kept in groups of males and females. But the colorful ones not. If you have any more questions feel free to contact me.
Meme Queen 2K'17 Yes of course but it is a simple fact that bettas are territorial.Males and females alike. :) Thats why responsible breeders do not recommend a sorority a) for beginners, bc it can br a bit tricky to see micro aggressions and separate the culprit before one of the girls gets seriously hurt and b) bc many people pick go at it the wrong way. I havent re-read my comment, but I think I roughly explained why putting one female in, also without plants isnt a good idea. :)
Right. Well I've been breeding bettas for 5 years so I know what you meant, but I was commenting regarding when you said females cannot be placed together. It's all about acclimation and patience.
Meme Queen 2K'17 Oh did I? As I said I havent re read the whole thing. But what I meant was that putting in one at a time is a terrible idea and that its very likely to not work bc territory etc . :3
I would never keep a male betta in a female betta sorority. And I definitely would add more plants in there so the girls can hide better from each other.
Its a common misconception but no betta can really live together peacefully for any sort of extended period, not even the females. a lot of people like to say that the females can go together because they're supposedly "less aggressive" but there's not a lot of hard evidence supporting that. Most sororities crash within a few months and even if the girls don't end up killing each other, its super stressful on the fish which compromises their immune system and makes it much harder for them to fend off opportunistic diseases like fin rot. I'm sure this girl would love having all the space to herself or maybe sharing in with some Khuli Loaches or those mountain minnows. Glass catfish also tend to do well with betta and look super cool. If you are dead set on having a betta tank though you could try some wild type betta like betta pallifinia or betta brownourum. The wild types haven't been bred for aggression like betta splendens (the common pet store type), and theres around 70 different types of wild betta! EDIT: also! forgot to mention it but keeping a male with a female is a really bad idea!! even when breeding them you can only keep them in the same tank for the copulation or it gets dangerous
hey how you doing buddy you're probably busy as heck when you going to do another fish video I miss listening to your voice you're one of the coolest aquarium RUclipsrs
1. FEMALE AND MALE BETTAS TOGETHER ARE A BAD IDEA! 2. Anubis nana and possibly java fern at the back would look sick. Amazon frogbit would be amazing too! 3. Love the scape and the new fish! your tanks look awesome too
What is a koi Betta? Koi and Bettas are two separate species. Not being grumpy or anything just confused. So any clarification is appreciated. Later! P.S:. Ok I saw the fish toward the end of the video. I had read that Bettas can have koi markings. So that's cleared up. Nice tank!
She is pretty. I think you should do a sorority and soon. Adding them all at the same time and while they're still young is one key to success, from my experience anyways. Then they grow up together so omce they're adults and grumpy they have worked out their differences, lol. I do like the look of the branches but plants would be good in a sorority. Small anubias or buces on the branches and then maybe taller plants in the back behind the branches might work? I have several videos of my sorority on my channel and you can see they all get along really well. They are fun, the girls actually like to interact with your hand and be picked up, have videos of that too. I have had them in a 10 gallon, heavily planted, then a 29 gallon, had to take them out because they were stuffing themselves on corydoras food, and now they're in a 20 gallon. They've been all over my house, heh. :)
I got one, she has super bad ammonia poisioning. the ammonia in the cup was 4ppm. its been a few days, and she is starting to eat only freeze dried brine shrimp that have been soalked in water. I hope she will be ok
If you want other fish in the tank besides bettas, consider cory cats and plecos if you need a male presence. The plecos will clean the wood anyway. But add those other females soon.
The most expensive pattern type of a commom/comet is red & white or sarasa in japanese. Although when young can cost 10 cents, but they cost between 35 to 60$ when they are about 5 to 10 inches. its very common, and u can find them goldfish this small about 2 to 2 1/2 inches at any feeder fish tanks in pet stores. I am planning to breed sarasa goldfish, and one day, i will make money out of them if i give them more space and care ❤:).the most beutiful i will keep for the goldfish competition and breeding because during selective breeding, u can breed the most reliable trait from generation to generation.
I have a 40 gallon, freshwater tank and I need help! I think I overpopulated. I have in total about 40 fish in this one tank...! I'd say 70% of them are maybe 1, no bigger than 2 inches long (neon tetras, rosey tetras, plattys). The rest are no bigger than 4 inches long, so my 2 plecos (common and albino) and 2 catfish (those common leapord print ones you find), maybe my mollys are just scraping 3 inches. Most have been in there for a couple months and now that the tank is established with fresh plants and rocks to swim and hide in, they all seem happy. But I've been told I'm overpopulated, and so I thought about it, and I feel like that's the case. Even though my eyes decieve me... They look as happy as the ones in your videos, and all get along nicely.
The first few months we had ammonia poisoning pretty bad and lost a few fish... but we managed to get rid of it. The water is healthy and the fish have established their ranks/health. A few still bear some wounds from the ammonia though.
Ok so first of all dont even try to put a male in that tank, bettas can not live in pairs ( this species at least which is betta splendid) and i would recomend getting all the females at once or before you put the other females in the tank move the aqua scape around and add live plants, they will have places to evade eachother when fights break out, and im going to be selling koi bettas in the near future i just spawned a pair of halfmoon plakat kois last month on the 3rd they will be going up for sale in August if you might be interested in them, but they are still quite small. :)
Joseph Ace37 Sounds prefect for 5 to 7 of them. But keep in mind that they will reproduce like crazy and if the parent's don't eat all the babies, the tank will become over populated.
Joseph Ace37 Wait, the other two people gave horrible advice. A 5 gallon would never comfortably fit 5 black skirt tetras, and they'd never breed. Choose smaller tetras or a larger tank.
That's looks like a dangerous aquascape they could be darting and snag themselves and in MY OPINION that set up just looks horrible you should try tying little water plants in there
U mm guys how do get rid of algae without taking any of the animals out or like I have an animal like a turtle and I don't want to take out or do anything like that is there anything except anything or anything that will clean the tank or in thing I should do to the tank without removing anything at all if there isn't a way show me the easiest way or if you can't the cheapest way to clean the tank and thank you very much please reply you know an answer also my tank is you can say 20 gallons with a really sucky filter but the filter does a job thank you and reply if there's if you know the answer thank
Most Walmart don't really know what they are doing with their fish... go on RUclips and search for Walmart fish abuse videos and you will find a lot. I am not saying that all walmarts take bad care of their fish, if the manager of the store cares about their fish then the bettas can be nice. It all depends.
Bettas are NOT meant for sororities. They are territorial and (in)bred for aggression. They are extremely solitary fish. Even if they don't immediately fight, there is still growing stress and anxiety which will eventually burst and lead to dead betta fish. I can't control what you put in your aquariums but I hope that decide to put something else in the aquarium instead of the bettas such as some minnows or other fish. I would recommend going through this video as the creator cares for many betta fish and even had a gigantic tank in hopes to avoid a fight: ruclips.net/video/aEarfUEQAcw/видео.html I love your can-do attitude and would hate to learn that your bettas died/were injured because of an uninformed mistake.
You should check out Bettas & Art on Instagram. They have beautiful fishies! instagram.com/bettasandart/?hl=en

It was a bad idea to get a betta before you get the rest of the females considering they do much better if you add them all at the same time.

Betta's don't like strong water flow, just some movement.
completely depends on what your using as a filter good luck! lava rock is the way to go wouldnt put more than 8 though
wouldnt put more than 8 tetras that is
I would do 5 or 6 also won't those sticks hurt there fins
Marian not true about the water flow , my betta loves it I catch him all the time swimming against the current having a blast he also sleeps on the pipe cause the vibration messages him to sleep .

All those sticks and stuff will shred any males fins...
I love the koi beta!!!
i think it would be awesome to have a community of bettas in a tank im ready for the update on it already lol
I would highly recommend plants for Bettas! They like to lay on them to sleep, and they are more gentle for their fins.
Koi bettas are beautiful
Glad to see you back wayne
I love koi bettas
hey a tip for your tank !don't use the pump all the time Betta's love slow moving water or still water but yes!😎love your vids

A Betta Life Females can live together in harmony. Males cannot.

The females will probably get along very well and there. If the tanks big enough they usually don't fight😄 that's with my experience at least.😉
I would never keep a male betta in a female betta sorority. And I definitely would add more plants in there so the girls can hide better from each other.
Haha great video
The Koi Bettas at my LFS are amazing. They are, in my opinion, prettier with more orange and black.

How is your wakins doing? u can breed a wakin and a ryukin to make a watonai goldfish!

they can be grown in a 20 gal, but it has to be saltwater. not freshwater.
def plants
Any plans for a new algae scrubber here? :)
-Paola
The tank set up is not good at all. There is also too much current in that tank. Bettas prefer a very low to nonexistent current.
