Joe Robinson does perfect breaks. He doesn’t play a wrong note. And he keeps it both recognizable and interesting. But they’re all simply fabulous. What I would give to be able to play like that. Half a dozen years ago a surgeon killed a nerve in my arm and now my index finger doesn’t work in the other fingers are slow and I have very little idea of where my hands and fingers are in space Even if I anchor with my ring finger I no longer have an index finger that works so I’m really down to my middle finger and I was never particularly drawn to Merle Travis as a player. As a composer and an arranger absolutely. I like having Melody and harmony going on at the same time.
