please be care with street foods in yangon (in myanmar general), most street food vendors are not sanitary, especially when they clean their kitchen utensils (dishes, forks, cutlery, etc.), they have to make do with very limited water available where they set up their stalls. It's confirmed that hep b cases are quite prevalent across the city.
I have similarly been warned. On the other hand some people also tell me that the "dangers" of Burmese street food are exaggerated. If anyone is worried about food hygiene and sanitary conditions - eating entrails is probably not a good place to start.
This is formerly BARR Street Rangoon. The Northern Block was a series of Automotive Spare Parts Shops owned and operated by Sikhs (Punjabi men). The Middle Block fronted onto Fytche Square now renamed Maha Bandoola Park facing the Rangoon Supreme Court. Next to the Supreme Court was an elegant building that housed the British Store named "Bowers Sowden & Co". On the South Block was the Barr Street Lock-up where Prisoners on Remand awaited their Court Case in the Law Courts nearby. At the end of Barr St cnr of Strand Rd stands Customs House. Opp Customs House stands Port Health Station Wharf where Passenger ships disembarked their passengers from the UK etc that arrived on B.I.S.N. Ships and P. Henderson Line ships also Bibby Line ships. (All from memory) I lived at 108 Sparks Street (now Bo Aung Gyaw Lan) . I am now age 76. in Australia 50 yrs.
Thanks Svein Arne - I think most tourists would probably hesitate diving into this food as it is so unusual compared with the usual fare we eat in the West. We eat offal as well but probably not as much as was served up here.
Is this street food market open everyday? I don't think you sampled any of the pork/beef entrails, did you :) I heard one lady telling you in English "beef stick, delicious" hahaha!
There are beef pork and goat meat They are really delicious please visit to myanmar and come to eat our street and traditional food we will always warmly welcome you
@@ericdeniz5413 Yes, after living abroad for 43 years, I was ready to re-settle in my home country BUT then February 1, 2021 happened and I reluctantly had to change my mind. But Myanmar is always in my heart.
thanks again for posting new video on food vendors,,,it looks scrumptious to see all the food,,,,the lady with the postcards looks young viewing from the back,,,,So I figured she was born in millennial era,,,that being said she should know mailing hard copy of letter and postcards are obsolete,,,it has replaced by many internet typhoon,,,smdh
Thanks for the comment Nanpya - Yes the Postcard lady has to drive a hard sell. I remember her from a previous visit to Maha Bandula park with my family. She sat down and chatted to us as if she was part of the family and would not leave even when we repeatedly declined buying her postcards. In the end we left. But as I said such pushy traders are very unusual in Yangon.
@@EatSleepYangon It is unusual to see someone as persistence as she is,,,and get into conversation w/o invitation with your family is a bit rude....I wonder how local survived in myanmar,,,what you see pork skewers looks cheap, but actually not,,,I sat there with 2 of my friends ate one night,,,not much and we ended up paying 23,000 kyats,,,which is about close to 20 usc,,,,for that,,,,and that is only snack,,,normal person make a little bit over 100,000 kyats a month and they have to send money to their family in outskirt of myanmar,,,,the country still has no check and balance ,,,and hard to do business there,,,just saying,,,,but anyway enjoy your stay...as always it is refreshing to see your video...
Hi Will, Prices are slightly lower in Yangon, but average Yangon wages are less than half those in Bangkok which makes it relatively less affordable and widespread. In general, the street food in Yangon is not as plentiful and less flamboyant than Bangkok.

Thanks for sharing! Looks like a busy venue. But I don't think my favorite food is found there. :-)

I think it is open every afternoon and evening. No, I didn't sample any of the food on this occasion. Thanks for commenting, Cho Sett.

Yes it is.
How do the street food prices compare to those in Bangkok. If anyone would have an answer about that it would be you.

Sounds like Siem Reap: 1 2 3 4....
Yep but to be honest this postcard lady is unusual in Yangon. I have met her before, but no one else I have met drives such a hard sell.
