Glad to hear you finally got through to the cleft team! I'm also looking forward to getting a bridge this summer :)
I really appreciate the peace of mind knowing that I have the opportunity to access cleft services at any time -- whether that's next year, in 5 years' time or even 50 years' time! There are a couple of things I am considering at the minute, but it's always nice to know that there's no real rush to get everything done immediately.

Yes so true! Haha don't know if I'd say I'm looking forward to it, at least not the part where I'll be toothless for 3 weeks 😅 But I suppose it will be good, from what I was explained, it may better than what I have now. I probably should have mentioned in the video why I'm getting a new one, but it's just cos the other one has come away a bit from one tooth due to the front tooth moving.

@@SarahAliceDouglas I'm currently wearing a retainer with a fake tooth attached, and it's a bit of a pain but I suppose for me getting a bridge is something of a 'milestone' (if that's the right word?) in terms of my treatment and makes me feel that bit closer to the end of years of treatment 💜

Yeah I've had it before (and during my debs which is like the equivalent of prom, if you will... which I was devastated about), but as a singer and singing teacher it isn't the most practical situation as I may be a bit lispy! Plus I haven't seen myself with a gap since October 2014, so it will be strange to look at myself in the mirror 😅
Yeah definitely, milestone is the right word! 🎉 I do remember being happy to finally get the bridge and reach that point of being finished with my treatment (well minus the ongoing dental checks for the rest of my life and future bridges haha, and almost a decade later now, work is being done again). That photo in the video is from that day, I posted it on FB, announcing I had reached the end ❤️🥰

@@SarahAliceDouglas it definitely is difficult as a singer! Occasionally I will be a bit naughty and take out my retainers just for choir 😂
My brother's getting confirmed next month (the week before I get the bridge put in) so that'll be a interesting time... (usually a few people from my school's choir go and sing at that Mass)

Never knew they did impressions with a machine! That would've really helped when I was younger because I was awful at having them done!😂

Me too haha, though I've had over a decade of practice at this point 😁

Yeah I didn't like the mould in my mouth, I have a small mouth, and also felt harder to breathe with my palate covered! This modern machine one is much better, still annoying to have something in your mouth, always is, but it's better. And the wonder of the technology, the impression being created on the screen before your eyes!

@@SarahAliceDouglas I'll have to go back to the hospital just to try this out😂

@@SarahAliceDouglas That sounds so cool! The most I ever got was when my orthodontist adapted one of the plastic trays to account for my back teeth having come in at a weird angle 😅
