I am impressed that someone figured this out. I make boxes from hardware cloth (some people call it “wire mesh”). I fill them with rocks, stones, pebbles, lava rocks and then use as door stops, water diverters, etc. To close mine up I lace them together with wire. Copper, aluminum, or stainless steel wire is good if you want to avoid the rust problem.
Yes Madam. Thats 1 of the best things that we were used to do in the past..in good times..was a simple life.May Allah(God) bless all our Grand parents🙋♀️🙋♂️
Thank goodness I found this video. I've been tearing my hair out trying to find wire baskets for my garage that weren't "decorative" but would fit between the studs and shelf supports. This means I don't have to spend lots of money for fussy stuff that I had to settle for.
Came across this video months ago and finally finished a spice rack using this technique. Thank you! Afterward I went over the edges with a hot glue gun to cover the wires that were poking up.
Just what I needed! I'm redoing a dresser with a missing drawer, so now I can make a basket to fit. Thank you! I'm going to make a fabric liner with drawstring ties also. It will cover most of the wire edges.
These are so darling! I love that they are completely customizable. I'm going to give this a try for our home office and will be sure to give you a shout out and link! 💞
Awesome idea!! I love nice wire baskets, they just make a home look organized. Had no idea how simple it is to make these yourself! Cant wait to try making our very own with my daughter (she is 13..we so got this!)! TY:))
This is a fabulous idea!! I am so sharing this on my facebook page! I just subscribed and I'm so excited to binge watch your channel tonight after the kids go to bed! 💜 haha 😊
You can use those yellow handle aviation snips for wire if you want- but cutting a lot over time will damage those snips. Actual wire cutters are designed for cutting round wire.
Oo add foam pads to protect surface and maybe stain a wood piece to fit inside. This is my goal haven’t tried it yet. I want to make some to hold towels so metal mesh needs to be sturdy enough and idk if what I need will be maleable enough to do this folding over trick.
Nice Mommy, but those wire ends and yarn/material craft supplies don't mix well. Consider plastic dip from a hardware store. Its thickness tends to close loopholes and cover wire ends. It also comes in bright colors since it is purposed for tool handles.
How sturdy do you find these when they're a larger size? If I made one 18.5" x 24" would it just bend under the weight of the stuff inside of it when I pick it up?
Thanks for the great lifehack. One question: what's your hardware cloth's gauge (wire thickness)? I want to buy one that isn't too malleable, but since nowadays the shopping is done through the internet, I can't feel it myself.
Why didn't you blunt cut the top edge? Does it still leave a point if you don't do the bending option?Curious because I am totally going to make these.
If you’re in the US, Home Depot or Lowes in the fencing section. Your local hardware store may have it too (even better). Just ask for hardware cloth or chicken wire.
Brilliant!!!... So gonna make some!! Thank you!!

Muchas gracias por compartir, la voy hacer .

This is gold 🪙. Had some extra mesh & now I know what to do with it. Thanks diy mommy.

Thank you so much. I have been looking for this tutorial. Want to make wire door baskets for a narrow bathroom closet door. 😊

Great idea! I'll have to try it out sometime. I bet you could also make dividers in the baskets with the scraps for a more versatile office organizer.
+The Kohn Tribe AH, fantastic idea! Thanks!

Did you find some? I want to know myself.
@@Triciarose506 not yet. My hunch tells me to go with 1.1 mm thick gauge for my purposes. I'll let you know about the results once I get it
Can you do them in a round shape? 🤔😍
great job. i would like to know the size of the mesh. it is very beautiful and trendy!
Just came across your video as I'm looking on how to make a gravestone saddle for flowers. Would you be able to make one? Thank you.
Why didn't you blunt cut the top edge? Does it still leave a point if you don't do the bending option?Curious because I am totally going to make these.
Yes, it can still be a bit scratchy, so bending them helps keep the top edge nice & smooth.
I never see this kind of wire, it's always flimsy stuff. Where do I find this?

did u get wire at home depot? i am in alberta as well.
Yep! In the fencing section.
+The DIY Mommy thank you. i am gonna try it 😄

Hey everyone hardware cloth contains lead. Avoid cutting yourself, don't sand it and wear gloves.
It’s Hardware, not harware
