The combination of the music, the video and then at 0:19 when Gisele and Linda come on the screen...it really just starts this whole dream! Gosh...I love fashion...I love glamor...I love this art in every way. Bravo.
I saw this video 16 years ago when I was studying Fashion Design. It was so inspiring for me to see those images of the making of a haute couture collection. The talent and attention to detail are amazing. Thank you for uploading this video. This is a memory that reminds me why I decided to work in the fashion industry. I love what I do, I never had a B plan, always fashion was my only plan❤.
Its like Gianni Versace said once "Beauty will save the world". And things like this video, this beauty, gives one hope, bliss, when the world is under quarantine, this is so perfect, exquisit and beautiful.
some constructions are just better done by machine mainly linings and areas where you really need strength and cant afford things falling apart - you can clearly see that apart from the embroidery and embellishments that everything is basted by hand and certainly finished by hand but as I said you really can not have linings and support structures falling apart no hand stitching will ever give you the stability required ...of course certain things can only be done by hand
@thangvicouture89 Not true... everything is sewn by hand by the atelier. Lesage Embroideries, do the embroidery for Dior on all levels... ie. Ready to wear and the couture.. so that would make couture and RTW the same?... everything is sewn by hand, watch Signe Chanel, you will see the workmanship that goes into Couture, compared to RTW.
So I know the rules of couture are that you can't finish any seam by machine...but I have seen a few Dior videos where they are definitely using a sewing machine. What do they mean by "finishing a seam" can they not back stitch? or do they have to knot the threads at the end by hand?
@videocrack246 it shouldnt cause any designer can hand sew a garment but making it looks like that is difficult and the hours and the work these people put in i guess the way u think is just too simple
the machine is used only for straight seams not really to finish..since it help to make faster since by hand will not be so perfect and faster..unfortunately is all about money not anymore haute couture..
