    • @TheMGMfan
      @TheMGMfan 4 года назад +4

      Not quite; while both the Genesis and Super Nintendo got a game called Sparkster, they are completely different games, with Sparkster on the SNES being a non-canon spinoff (as indicated with the discrepancies in the names), while Sparkster on the Genesis is the true sequel, as indicated by that game being subtitled Rocket Knight Adventures 2, albeit for some reason only on a splash title screen outside of Japan.

      @@TheMGMfan I own both Sparksters along with Rocket Knight Adventures, so I am aware of this. Note that I said "with a few notable differences." I was alluding to what you just stated while trying to avoid being overly pedantic.
      While an eye for detail is always good, I find that in general, the more drawn out and trivial an explanation is (particularly in a RUclips comment section), the more likely it is to be overlooked.

    It's fascinating how the SNES version is superior to the Genesis Sparkster in terms of sound and visuals (look at the water reflection and the morphing rocks for example) but the Sega version seems to have gotten the better story and cinematic presentation. It's a shame Konami doesn't port these to modern hardware.

      See, unlike western developers, Japanese devs tended to not make the same game between platforms, really forcing you to buy both consoles if you wanted to play games from those developers. I think the only game Konami for sure made that was the same between both platforms was Lethal Enforcers 1, and only because that was an arcade port. Nothing else from Konami was the same between both consoles.

      Except that on snes: 1.it's not funny 2.you don't feel like being on an adventure since the stages aren't linked and are just randomly put one after another 3.the shoot-them-up phase was slow and the giant robot fight incredibly lame (same for Sparkster genesis and its horrible mechas) 4.the Pig Star on RKA was just cooler, and it was also cooler that the final boss wasn't the King, and that the man-to-man battle with Axle Gear was almost at the end.
      Ok, the snes version is more beautiful (94), but that's it, I felt like it was just a lame version of RKA, a sad copy. Sparkster genesis isn't as good as RKA too, but i still prefer this one because it had its own ideas and because of how nervous is the gameplay.

      dude, wtf, the only stage is random its the musical one, also the robot and shoot em up segments in rka always were kind of meh (Especially the robot) and the axle gear battle in rka its a joke because the stupid AI
      the only real problem whit this game its the rocket, its too fucking fast

      @@xenotypos The stages make sense, and pretty much lead into one another. Even the musical stage, as you land in it after the mechanical bird throws you off at the end of stage 3. You just didn't pay any attention at all it seems. A lot of other games didn't have stages that linked to one another, and for those of us who grew up either long before (myself), or right around this era didn't give two shits, we just played these games, and loved them.

    The A-list talent at Konami would do the SNES version while some shitty B-Team handled the Sega one.
    However the silver lining is that Konamis true A-team left the company to work as a 2nd party contractor for Sega. A little group called Treasure. You may have heard of them.

      I personally felt the genesis version was a much more solid game, it did the job well and offered a fresh take. The music wad pretty good too, wouldnt call em b-team.

      Ruby Williams Anti UTTP please, just tell the reason why it's better so i can agree with your opinion.

    • @phj9894
      @phj9894 8 лет назад +2

      Ruby Williams Anti UTTP fine, i agree that graphics are better, but i thought controls were almost same that i didn't have any problems to control in both games.
      The reason why i don't like sparkster as much as RKA is that there are too many annoying traps in the most levels, which bothers me to enjoy high speed action game.
      In RKA i can just boost my rockets without risk except in some trap rooms, but in sperkster using rockets to progress levels makes me to lose health, constantly bound to opposite direction,or even get a insta-death.
      also the Continuity of rocket in sperkster is too short that spining is almost useless.
      in RKA spining was really useful especially in boss battles.

    • @phj9894
      @phj9894 8 лет назад +1

      Ruby Williams Anti UTTP looks like you are out of topic and mismemorized.
      We are compareing RKA with snes version of sperkster, not the mediocore genesis version (which you can't charge the rocket manually) as well as other genesis games. Don't change the topic to useless 16-bit console war. It was over 20 years ago.
      It's true that The shoulder buttens in SNES version looks cool and useful to charge another rocket in mid air when i get used on it.
      But, it made the control quite complex that it felt like they were forgot their objective - making a mascot game of konami.
      Do you remember how simple and easy mario game's control was ?

    • @phj9894
      @phj9894 8 лет назад

      Ruby Williams Anti UTTP i mean the control is simple, not the difficulty itself.
      I don't want to have a disscussion with you anymore.
      your answer is always "nintendo is better everything else is shit".

    • @phj9894
      @phj9894 8 лет назад

      Ruby Williams Anti UTTP hell no, i like some great nintendo games as well.
      And i couldn't even owned any sega consoles at that time and only enjoyed them by emulators.
      I have a nes clone, nintendo ds i with some game cartridges now.

    Honestly, and without giving offense to someone, but for me Rocket Knight/Sparkster is a much better character than the overrated Sonic, even his games seems much more dynamic and fun, not only because they are also fast action, but also because he is a more dynamic character, with better playable mechanics, and who also allows to have a better sense of exploration, something that does not happen with Sonic. I'm not saying that Sonic games are bad, no, but they simply can't offer me the sense of pleasure and comfort that Rocket Knight/Sparkster games do.

    • @Azel954
      @Azel954 3 года назад

      These games are vastly underappreciated and significantly better designed than any Sonic game. They offer a superior sense of speed without sacrificing solid play mechanics and level design. Although the original Sonic has an undeniable timeless character design so I won't knock that. Sparkster deserved better.
