Hello friends. Hope you enjoyed the video of Eduard's Harrier GR7. If you did please leave me a like and subscribe as it's not the last time you'll be seeing this jet, I've got some plans in the future where it will be reappearing 😎 And don't worry, the main landing gear will be fixed in the next video. My patience with this kit was running out and I wanted it finished 😩 its not an oversight 😉
@@fredtedstedman Eduard's Harrier is perhaps the worst for that sadly. The undercarriage for Kinetic's 1/48 Sea Harrier is perhaps the best that I've come across, Airfix's 1/72 Harrier GR.9 also has a fairly good undercarriage, better than Eduard's.
Beautiful model mate. I was with No1 squadron in early eighties on Gr3’s and Gr7’s when we went to Denmark on winter manoeuvres we painted them exactly as you have and your weathering is absolutely spot on 😁👍🏻 an amazing job you should be very proud af your achievements 😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 regards Kenny 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Ah yes, remember slopping that distemper on. It was easy on the GR3’s as you just covered the green bits but ( model making authenticity tip) you never distempered over any insignia or warning signs. When we first took the GR5’ to Bardufoss in Norway for their first proper play in the snow it was the first time they were allowed to turn on the Zeus ECM and were promptly told to turn it off again by Norwegian ATC as it blinded them! Worst bit was scrubbing it off when they got back to the UK. I seem to remember Paul the aircraft cleaner always took vacation then! Most of the rear end white was then black from soot! Dirty Girls!
Absolutely beautiful. All the details are just amazing, the paint scheme is awesome. What an incredible model as always. Take care and have a great day my friend
Now there's something that must be on every modellers wish list, four pairs of hands! Just what I like in a video, lots of scratch building and great build and paint work. Best wishes Vic.
Love your work, I'm happy to see that even the best hobbiests struggle with decals, your window decals obviously took you to the edge of sanity. Nice work.
Excellent, made me come over all nostalgic seeing the first job you did was the"blow-down doors" on the engine intakes. In another lifetime I used to build the Harrier intakes including the blow-down doors, that was way back in the '70's on RAF GR.1's and USMC AV-8A's.

I can see where you hit a few snags. It's a bear of a kit and you did an outstanding job. Some next level weathering and a great video. Btw..flying leatherneck decals makes a nice det cord sticker for these kits....
It's interesting seeing all the chopping you had to do to get the fit! I've just completed all that part on mine and all went together fine with only a slight amount of filling needed!
Thank you so much! I appreciate your view, I mean at the end of the day thats what you come for right? ☺ Hope you can learn something new from my videos. The Inner Nerd

Well the kit is originally based on a Hasegawa mould and reboxed as Eduard to include the resin and PE and other stuff. Good kit overall with the options and stuff, but only if you overlook how hard it is to build. Patience was running low with the build by the time I got the to final images and found that the undercarriage wasn't long enough! I've just bought the kit and may get the flaps upgrade too! Does anyone know if the Harrier's flaps and nozzles move in unison or can be moved serarately? It's just some models I've seen have the nozzles down when the flaps are up which may be due to the Hasegawa kit not having positionable flaps but just wanted to be sure! Thanks.
They can move separately to a certain degree that's why harriers come into their landing pattern over the water instead of over the deck and then drift over onto their landing spot, much like a helicopter. I may be mistaken but I do not believe the flaps move independently. I do however know that the nozzles can move independently, I hope this has been helpful. Good luck with the build.
Hello. Okay so I wouldn't reccomend going too expensive to begin with as there is a learning curve and you wouldn't want to mess up an expensive piece of kit. I started with a Sealy AB9321. It's gravity feed double action and is a great starter. At £30 when I bought it supplied with an air hose, 3 needles and nozzles or various sizes and the fittings for the compressor it was a good deal. I still have it too and as long as you clean it out it will last years. I hope this helps. I have got a video coming out on Friday (29/1/21) covering the basics of model making. Airbrushing and paint thinning is covered in detail so may be worth watching to aid your research. Good luck and thanks for watching :)
Yeah, I think I will stick to 1/72 or 1/144 scale. You did beautiful work, it just seems to take a lot more work at the bigger scales than I want to spend.
I'm using AK Gauzy agent to apply a super glossy coating to the canopy. The clear parts in this kit weren't particularly shiny or reflective so were dipped in the agent to give them a clear varnish. To dry I used a paper towel and left overnight and covered to stop dust setting on the varnish.
BRUTAL!!! means... more than great. I am starting with this model and the camu was very attractive. but seeing this master class... you convinced me. One quick question, please, what is the product "plastilina in Spanish"... (might be something more technical not leaving stains in the surface), that you use in 22:45? Thanks. Again Great model.
Hello and thank you! I use Blue-tac. It's a stationary item that can be used to hold paper in place etc. I hope this helps but I can't think of an alternative
I know people who have been taking apart the Typhoon DA4 prototype and that has a composite wing. From what I have heard, no rivets but there are lots of fasteners that look like rivets until you get very close. I don't know about the harrier but I have access to a FA.2 at a museum so I could probably take a look
I built this one in around 70 hours. By impossible for you to follow, do you that the video is too comlicated or not explained well enough? Thanks for watching :)
The subtitles explain but I wrte them off basically. The decal was so flimsy and wrapped itself up during the application and there was no way to fix it Being supplied with only one I had no choice but to leave it out of the build
Did you use the kit nozzles? I've heard the two parts don't line up that well! Also, was it the rear wheels that were to short or the pylon wheels that were too long? Thanks.
Yes I did. They take some alignment but if you fit them in stages (front first then work to the rear/side to side) then they will come out okay. You just can't got ahead and glue the entire nozzle together at once. And the problem for me was the centre wheel that was too long. I sorted it by taking out about 3mm from the leg
Brilliant job.....such fine and delicate weathering but with great effects. Your builds are such good fun to watch and I've picked up lots of great techniques from you over the past (and this) episodes. Just wondering....I noted that you used white glue for some PE parts....do you follow this up with CA after or does the white glue do the trick?
This is absolutely staggering, I used to make models as a kid and over the last year or so got back into it (only 1/72s mind) and I’m happy with what I’ve made but this is next level stuff, truly remarkable work and a pleasure to watch. How long did it take overall?
Thank you so much! Welcome back to the hobby and I hope it's going well for you and my videos are helping along. Aircraft usually take me around 4 weeks to make. I don't do this full time like some of the other RUclipsrs so that slows me down. But 4 weeks is my typical project time working an hour here and there.
It's the fit of the kit which is poor. Don't worry though good kit overall with the options and stuff, but only if you overlook how hard it is to build. Patience was running low with the build by the time I got the to final images and found that the undercarriage wasn't long enough! Thank you. The NLG is on straight but I think it's the angle of the photos that make it look skewed. The MLG was sorted out after this video since I didn't notice it floating until I was taking the pictures. Thanks for watching :)
I guess it would yes. But then again the additional weight of the 48th scale may pull it down more than the 72nd. I'll make a 72nd and I'll give it a try 😂
hello, I see that you have the same problem as me, the wheels simply do not sit on the ground at all. I think that the additional parts from eduard are responsible for that. The arms of the stabilizer wheels are too long :( I will rework them today
Hello. Yes the middle gear is too short compared to the outboard legs. To fix it I added styrene shim to the main gear after I'd made the video to make it the same length. It's easy enough to do but takes a bit of scratch building to make them even. Hope this helps and thanks for watching :)
Good day! After applying the primer, you do pre-shading on a black background. You apply gray, brown shades and effects of surface heterogeneity. But after applying camouflage, those effects are not visible at all. I see no reason to do such preshing.
Konrad is correct. In the video narration it is stated that the effect is very subtle and barely visible, but the camera does not pick up the effect quite as well as in real life so is difficult to show properly. The main reason for including this detail in the video however is to show viewers how to inter-shade and how it works to learn from
I use Micro Scale Kristal Klear, but I have been told this is just PVA, so yes. I find it much easier that superglue because you have much more time to work into position. The hold isn't as strong but you can always add some superglue around the edges if required. But as most PE isn't weight baring then I guess this doesn't matter to much
After all that I'd had enough of stuff not fitting and having to go back and fourth to fix things. I did sort it out though in this video ruclips.net/video/XQt-Hj3-BsE/видео.html

how long did this build actually take you? this takes it to another level and has given me a lot to think about... great job
I’m not sure exactly as stop watches don’t go on for that long 😂 but I’d estimate around 6 weeks - so around 40 hours
@@TheInnerNerd for me i even took it for 4 month's because of my laziness
Sir hi, your center body wheels are not touching the ground, WHY is that so ? and where is the canopy detonation chord ? you fumbled.
Does 1/48 have more flight range versus 1/72?
What did you use to mount the plane on the painting swivel disk?
It's called a JH Model stand. I believe the 48 scale one is item number 4801, 72 scale 7201
Good day! After applying the primer, you do pre-shading on a black background. You apply gray, brown shades and effects of surface heterogeneity. But after applying camouflage, those effects are not visible at all. I see no reason to do such preshing.
Often cameras do not pick up the very subtle variations, so thats probably the case here
Konrad is correct. In the video narration it is stated that the effect is very subtle and barely visible, but the camera does not pick up the effect quite as well as in real life so is difficult to show properly. The main reason for including this detail in the video however is to show viewers how to inter-shade and how it works to learn from
Did you use PVC glue for the photoetch cockpit panelling?
I use Micro Scale Kristal Klear, but I have been told this is just PVA, so yes. I find it much easier that superglue because you have much more time to work into position. The hold isn't as strong but you can always add some superglue around the edges if required. But as most PE isn't weight baring then I guess this doesn't matter to much
@@TheInnerNerd Good to know. I use micro kristal as well, but only for canopies. I'll have to try it for PE.
And after all that hard work & excruciating attention to detail...the main gear wheels don't touch the ground. What happened there then?
After all that I'd had enough of stuff not fitting and having to go back and fourth to fix things. I did sort it out though in this video ruclips.net/video/XQt-Hj3-BsE/видео.html
