  • Effective education of established and new beekeepers will encourage adoption of best management practices, which is important for the long term future of the industry.
The use of 'how to' videos to communicate such information is an effective method of education.
RIRDC’s series of five short and to-the-point training videos cover the basic skills required by people training beekeepers in best practices and can be used by Registered Training Organisations when delivering training package to clients.
The scripts for the videos are mapped to the Learner Guides of the current accredited training units. Of the thirty one units of competency, the following have been selected from Certificate III in Beekeeping. A separate video addresses each of the following management practices:
    1. Constructing and repair beehives (AHCBEK 204A)
    2. Re-queening a honey bee colony (AHCBEK 303A)
    3. Selecting and establishing an apiary site (AHCBEK 405A)
    4. Providing a pollination service (AHCBEK 404A)
    5. Queen bee artificial instrumental insemination (AHCBEK 402A)
