Informative video. Didn't realize you had CEH as well. I attended a course at a computer learning facility which you stopped to visit the instructor during his lecture about 10 or 11 months ago. Btw honestly I don't quite remember the way you showed us that subnetting technique. Currently holding A+ and two MTA certs, OS and Security Fundamentals. Looking at Sec+ as well as C|EH. This helps clear the air on what to expect.

I'm taking my CEH this week and wanted feedback regarding the test, so thank you!!!!

Thanks so much. I feel that people who ask this question haven't really looked into the purpose or objectives of the certs, or maybe don't have much background in IT. Great video. I was wondering about the difference between Sec+ and SSCP, and thinking that if my end goal of getting CISSP IN a few years would be better served with SSCP, but I think I'd rather have a job using CEH in the near future. I’m also looking at CySA+ but for a cybersecurity job I'm interested in only Sec+ or SSCP are required. 20+ years in IT and education, looking at career change.

Congrats on passing and I myself have Security+ but will eventually take CEH in the next year

Security plus is for blue team
    CEH is for red team.
One is offensive another one is defensive

I have had Sec+ before... I ended up letting it expire by accident, so I decided to take CYSA+ aka CSA+ instead. Thats more geared towards Sec+ from my experience with it, just more in depth than Sec+. CYSA is more for defensive strategies imo, while CEH is more similar to Pentest+ and the offensive side of Cyber Security. My ultimate goal is to get CEH though, I believe it's the harder more practical test for Entry/moderate pentesting than Sec+ would ever be. First time I took Sec+ it was easier to me than the Microsoft exams and etc. CYSA was difficult (I took it twice before passing, only failing by one question each time BUT I spent probably less than a month in preparation) but it really depends on the direction you are trying to go. I am currently studying for CISSP but plan on taking Sec+ again and Net+ before I take CISSP. Also plan on taking ITIL since it is required by my current school and hopefully will be done with all 3 by the end of the year to focus on CISSP.

Nice. I passed the Sec+ recently and hoping to take the CISSP in the next month or so. Looking at CEH after that.

Great information! Thank you so much. I am wondering where to start when learning about IT Security, and this knowledge is helpful to parse out the differences in the certs. Congratulations, and keep up the hard work!

Really informative video. I am going to take my CEH exam in near future but I don't have plans for doing security+. Instead I am thinking about CPENT by EC Council. I want your feedback about my decision and also please do a video on CEH practical exam as well.

Security can be sliced in two domain if one will, offense and defense. sec + is theory on defense and CEH on offense (meaning hack the dam thing to see if its secured, as Red-team there's compliance way of doing this CEH theory touch on this as well ). CEH is ranked along with CCNAs which is immediate cert and it has no practicality on it, and its expensively stupid. I wouldn't advice taking them both why? they both in the same immediate realm like, CCNA, CCIA, CHFI and ComPTIA security +. what i will do if i was some of your. take security plus honestly you don't have to be certified for the damn thing, just learn to know it (professor Messer has free videos on security). then straight from it go take CompTIA CySA + (you've learned sec + info anyway and its no prerequisite to have sec plus in order to get CySA +) . before than, please take Kali Linux also Linux Plus why? these are tools they will prepare your ass for offensive security real hands on shit (and use Udemy for cheaper courses not some CBT nuggets shit) . After you certified for CySA plus get CompTia Pentesting which sit along with CCIE , OSCP. Linux plus and Kali i said take would have prepared you for Pentesting - and Kali will teach you for most of the shit CEH will teach you cheaper though(kali has theory on offensive security which CEH offers with a ridiculous amount of money) . Go to compTIA roadmap certs for IT and check ranks of these IT certs all of them and be informed.

CySa and Comptia Pentesting along with CCIE?? , you do not have idea what are you talking about, CCIE is one of the toughest certs. out there. Likewise only 50000 people on planet have it from begening of Cisco certf. CEH nor Security + are not even close to CCNA, CCNA is one tough exam . Pls don't spread wrong information.

I would suggest Cysa+ over CEH after Security+ but that's just my opinion.

That's accurate! I think with CySA+ being newer, the Sec+ is still the go to.
I'll do a more in depth comparison when I make the CySA+ videos because that deserves some attention. I've had about 100 people ask me about CEH vs Security+ and I wanted to make the point that they are pretty different.
I can't say I was super impressed with the CEH but I understand it for specific applications.
I think CySA+ is the way to go for now!!

You will have to understand the concepts behind writing code. Specifically scripting languages like python and powershell are highly sought after.

CEH is not a standard exam, no employee looks at CEH... go for OSCP ... CEH is money oriented they love your money
