My Philosophy: I love music. I love all kinds of music. And I go into every album wanting to love it, so that’s my starting point for every review. Keep in mind, though, that music is a very personal thing. An album may hit me personally in a very different way than it hits you. That’s complexly natural and unavoidable, which is why I try to include some personal context in my reviews. It’s so you’ll have a better idea where I’m coming from. In the end, it’s still just my personal opinion, which is inherently biased, and which you may or may not agree with. Hopefully, once in a while, we’ll find common ground.

Great to see Foreigner finally get in. Kind of surprised Peter Frampton wasn’t in already. My dad insists the current biggest injustice with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is that The Guess Who aren’t in. Bad Company and Boston are still MIA along with many prog bands like Jethro Tull, Supertramp, King Crimson, Kansas, Uriah Heep, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

Hello Trax . Glad to see my 2 favorites Peter Frampton and Foreigner make it . I am not a Dave Matthews fan but they do deserve to be in there and I am happy for the band and their fans . This year’s decision was certainly better than the lame one last year . Anyway I am not really surprised at the induction of Jimmy Buffett in the special categories which of course is the Hall’s choice and not on the fan ballot . However the induction of MC5 and John Mayall blew me away , particularly John Mayall. . John Mayall had never been even mentioned but him and his Bluesbreakers were big and hugely influential in the day . When Eric Clapton was with him Eric already had some guitar skills but he stated that it was basically John with his encyclopedia knowledge of the blues that taught him . Anyway maybe we one day we can get Jethro Tull, King Crimson , and Boston in there in some category

Not kidding at all. Relative to acts from the 50s and 60s still waiting to be inducted, a 90s act is, by any definition, newer. Jane's Addiction shouldn't get in before Joy Division/New Order, Pixies, The Smiths, Sonic Youth, or The Replacements. R.E.M. are basically the only indie/alternative act from the college radio era that's been inducted. The hall of fame has honored proto punk (The Velvets, Stooges, now MC5), classic punk (Talking Heads, Ramones, The Clash), post punk era acts (U2, Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Pretenders) and skipped straight to the commercialized 90s (Green Day, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, 80s holdovers RHCP). Getting some those snubbed indie acts might take an act of God, along with a restraining order or two. (Morrissey, you hear me?) But waiting any longer will risk either more members passing on or their relevance becoming more and more nonexistent. You can't continue to deny Joy Division and Pixies influence on music in general any longer.

I don't think they measure, say, Dave Matthews Band against Peter Frampton because they're from different eras, but they may measure DMB against Oasis.

I’m happy for Kool and the Gang, Foreigner, A Tribe Called Quest, and Dave Matthews Band. Not a big Cher and Ozzy Osborne fan bud like induct em get it over with. Happy For Mary J Blige bud wanted Mariah over her. Kool and the Gang was happy they’ve been long overdue kings of feel good music, Foreigner been number 1 for long time far as rock bands. Tribe Called Quest my favorite rap group. DMB couldn’t be snubbed twice. Like Dionne Warwick going in and Buffet far as musical excellence. As finale sing Celebration by KATG or I Wanna Know What Love Is by Foreigner.

@@TrackXTrackSome reasons Bryan Adams has a shot: 1 He rescued KISS from crashing further. 3 songwriting credits especially 2 songs in Creatures of the Night. 2 He took advantage of early MTV. 3 His coklaborations with other musicians and writers refined songs which he would release for his albums. Stay was written for Prism. Heaven is a derivative but is more polished. 4 He wrote and performed for soundtracks. A Night in Heaven, Teachers (40 years cake), Robin Hood, 3 Musketeers, Don Juan de Marco brought wider audiences. 5 Adams created a world 🌎 class studio 🎙 in Vancouver where many famous musicians record. 35 years ago Billy Joel recorded Storm Front. Among the 1st clients. AC/DC, Jennifer Lopez and others record there.
The problem with John Waite is that he has not many hits as a solo singer after Missing You. Most of the hit songs were with The Babys 👶. Yet, the songs are not great but good. Bad English had a few hits but the band broke up 💔 at the end of the 2nd album, somewhere near 1993.

These genres influenced and shaped the development of rock 'n' roll, providing its foundational elements. That doesn't mean that contemporary artists, who've never once played a lick of Rock 'n' roll should be inducted. Induct them in the Blues, Jazz, or R&B Hall of Fame. Should not be able to label yourselves Rock & Roll if you induct non-rock artists over actual deserving rock artists. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2024: The induction class review.
Not too long ago, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced the inductees of 2024 class & they went wild with 16 members this time which is almost as big like back in 2012. That's pretty interesting even though it would have an impact on the scheduling for the ceremony.
With said, I have very mixed thoughts about this, this class is so populist just like what happened two years ago. Not only that, it's also a year when classic rock acts has pretty much taken over whereas the boomer era is highly represented here. Plus, the Hall went hard with the side categories especially Musical Excellence & Influence.
Alright so here's my take on the class of 2024 inductees.
    Performers -
Mary J. Blige: Ngl, I actually thought it won't be her year given the tough competition on the ballot, yet obviously that didn't stop MJB from being inducted following her second nomination. Kudos to her!
Cher: Oh well, I don't mind seeing Cher getting her recognition from the Hall however I highly doubt she'll ever accept it when the time comes. After all, she's more well-known as an entertainer than an artist.
Dave Matthews Band: Not surprising that DMB would make a return on the ballot following their namesake leader's appearance at last year's inductions. I'm 50/50 on their chances & they got in. Though I don't mind them receiving the honor, it's just feels like more about popularity & participation which is something the Hall isn't there for.
Foreigner: Even though Foreigner sold million records & have countless hit songs on the charts, that doesn't make them true Hall of Famers since they lacked artistic influence, solid innovation & groundbreaking impact. I mean such artists including The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Elton John, Led Zeppelin & Pink Floyd didn't get in just because they're considered as the best-selling artists of all time, they're in because they changed the game which is something Foreigner hadn't done.
Peter Frampton: Even though Frampton has an stellar career, he only had one relevant/remarkable album under his belt. His induction is mostly just an participation award (See DMB) & like Foreigner, he didn't change anything.
Kool & The Gang: A very well worthy recognition for Kool & The Gang as they remain among the acts who defined funk as an legitimate art form. I definitely think the induction of the Spinners last year proved to be the case for Kool & it worked out great!
Ozzy Osbourne: The metal icon would be the 27th artist to join the ranks of the Beatles, Eric Clapton, Tina Turner & others in the "multiple inductee" club. His solo work may not be as groundbreaking like with his time in Black Sabbath yet it did have it's highlights.
A Tribe Called Quest: Third nominations always work well in the end for most artists in the past & Tribe ended up becoming one of them which means they're off the ballot finally. A very deserving honor for their solid impact on the landscape of rock & roll.
The Hall has done themselves a remarkable job for the side picks especially since most them are gone while few are still alive.
    Side category honorees -
Excellence: MC5, Jimmy Buffett, Dionne Warwick & Norman Whitfield
Influence: Alexis Korner, John Mayall & Big Mama Thornton
Ahmet Ertugun Award: Suzanne De Passe.
Here's who I think will be the presenters & special guests for the ceremony:
    Brandy
    RuPaul
    John Mayer
    Mark Ronson
    Josh Homme
    Joe Bonamassa
    Bruno Mars
    Tony Iommi
    Post Malone
    Rob Halford
    Zakk Wylde
    Slash
    Questlove
    Busta Rhymes
    Tyler, the Creator
    Henry Rollins
    Tom Morello
    Mike Patton
    Kim Thayil & Matt Cameron
    Don Henley
    Elton John
    Eric Clapton
    Gary Clark Jr.
    Lionel Richie
Anyway this is my review for this year's class. Maybe next year would be better with greater selections based on true legacy & not populist regime.

But as we all know, so many important bands ain't in the HOF: Judas Priest, Motorhead, MC5, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains... The list goes on.

Judas Priest was inducted in 2022 although it was in the musical excellence category. MC5 is getting inducted this year. I used to vote for MC5 every year on the fan vote and I was always disappointed that they were in last place and never got in. I'm glad they're finally getting in somehow.

Agreed, plus like Styx or not, I think what they contributed to music should be in consideration as well. I highly doubt that Opeth, that started in the early 1990s will ever be in consideration for this Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and easily should be with Mikael Akerfeldt the vocalist that made growl vocals mixed with clean vocals so popular and used often in modern metal. I highly doubt that the band that made symphonic metal so popular, especially in Europe, like Nightwish will ever be in consideration for this as well. But we get Cher, the person and her producer that made robotic sounding autotune a major part of vocal use in modern music. Fucking hate that robotic affects of autotune because it sounds so unnatural. If used to a minimum for minor pitch correction for studio recordings I can live with that but so many vocalists and producers today are using this autotune for just about every vocal line in a song, especially Hip Hop and pop music in general.
