Exactly what I thought. As someone who's dealt with professional burnout, it was immediately the first thing I thought of. I reached a point where I just didn't give a shit and said whatever I wanted to the point of unprofessionalism, because I was so burned out I didn't care if I was fired.

I agree. As a Yankee fan, very disappointed he has NOT been fired yet. We need a revamp in and out of this organization. I feel like as long as we have Cash, we aint gonna do jack shit. I hate feeling that way, but its the way i feel and shit like this is an example of yet another reason he should be employed by the Yanks in the position he is. He needs to put the peace pipe down and be professional and right now this is NOT a good thing moving forward for the team. Not on positive can come of what he just said.

I think you're overthinking it, guys. You're looking for logic when it's about emotion. I don't think there was a hidden motive behind Cashman's stupid comments about Giancarlo, some subtle chess move to get him to waive his no-trade clause. I think it was nothing but pure ego. Cashman seems to be a legend in his own mind, and Stanton is the glaring reminder of one of his stupidest deals, taking on that albatross contract that's hobbling roster construction. And whenever critics pile on Cashman for his stupid deals, Stanton always comes up. Consequently, Giancarlo's mere presence must be an irritant to him, and his frustration comes from knowing that his stupid trade for Stanton is going to keep being talked about. And if he has to eat $98 million to get him out of his sight, Stanton will STILL be talked about as a hallmark of Cashman's incompetence. He owns it forever. In sum, I think he mouthed off because his ego is bruised and he caused all the criticism himself, but he doesn't want to take the blame -- he wants to blame the player instead of blaming himself for acquiring him. He can't accept accountability.

Been saying Stanton hamstrings this team for years.
I HATED this trade from the beginning. It’s was redundant. Had judge already. That’s the problem with this team and it’s construct. They have compiled guys who fall in line with certain analytics. Can’t have that. Have to have guys who do different things.

Brian sounds like a drunken bafoon, almost like hes trying to get fired, this man is untouchable, any other GM would never talk like this freely, also hes the one that traded for Stanton, his contract is all on him, now trying to get out of him by bad mouthing the man.

If Cashman is really trying to get himself fired from the Yankees, he should drag the 2009 Championship trophy around the parking lot like George Costanza did.

Yankees should have their players backs' publicly, no matter what they think internally. Or else why would anyone come here, already a no-playoff .500 club. 😂

The Yankees desperately need a productive left hand power bat in the line-up. Jason Dominguez may be a real plus down the line, but the Yankees have been way too right-handed over the past several seasons. Cashman misunderstood baseball, believing that because Judge and a few other right handed Yankee hitters hit for power to right center, that meant he didn't need a left handed bat, but the reason you need right and left handed batters is because right handed batters hit better against left handed pitchers and left handed batters, as a general rule, hit better against right handed pitchers. You need that balance in your lineup to prevent opposing teams from stacking the pitching with right handed pitchers neutralizing all your right handed hitters, which is what has transpired against the Yankees over the past 3 seasons.

If the Yankees were to acquire Soto, say they take on Stanton's contract despite their financial woes, what is to say that Boone would not rest Soto like he rests other players the night after they go 3-4 with a homerun? Boone just does not play guys when they are hot because he is too much of a believer in what the computer tells him.

That agent has a great point. We are watching how NY is becoming a difficult place to play in. Fans and media are hostile. Now you need to worry about your own GM? It is a circus. Remember other teams can pay as much money now. NY is becoming less desirable place to players. I am a Yankees fan. But the fans need to be less hostile towards players who do not perform. They are making the situation only worse. How booing can make a player to hit more home runs. It is beyond reasoning.

The fellows are giving Mr. Cashman too much Machiavellian credit. Sometimes, the most simple answer is the probable right one; Cashman's recent moves haven't worked well, and he is feeling the pressure and reacting recklessly, emotionally, and even petulantly. I'll bet there is "more going on" on the inside, either with his sense of security in the organization or maybe even his personal life (or both). Cashman needs to regain his grip before he damages the team.

Why would a GM (who has underperformed with one of the highest payrolls in the sport) go out of his way to piss off a player who cannot be traded, sabotage the opportunity to sign the player that same agent represents? Why has Hal Steinbrenner let this guy damage the perception of the team to free agents and the public?
