For the Master Cycle Zero, to prevent suffocating in low ceilings, maybe you could use the new commands that exist to alter the height of the horse to be taller without making it wider or longer.
You can change the size, so all that really matters is that I choose an entity with the height:width ratio that I want. So the size attribute could be very helpful here. There IS the problem where most mobs don't automatically step up full blocks, but in the most recent updates, we can control that with an attribute too
@@Howzieky just thought of an idea, maybe get a large mob that takes up the space of both the bike and the player riding it, have a negative height interaction riding that mob, then make the player ride the interaction this shifts down the player to the correct spot on the bike, and prevents the bike from going under small ceilings
During Howzieky's absence, I started university, and am doing an IT degree. I did not realise quite how profound a change it was to my life until this video, when I realised that every time you talked about broken code, or having to code something particularly difficult, and even the moments of "this works fine, and if I make it better it'll reduce my lifespan by three years, so I decided to make it better" ... I understood *exactly* how each of it felt. Good to see you around again. Feel proud of everything you managed to do. Thank you for making the coding process fun to watch.

In order to fix the drifting, here: Drifting is, in short, when your vehicle is facing in a different direction than its velocity. Idk how botw drifting works, but here is how it would work in a racing game, for example. When drifting, you want the vehicle to have a base of basically ice physics (give it less drag while drifting) and then slowly modify the velocity every tick to align with our target velocity (the facing direction * current velocity magnitude) The actual calculations can differ, but one solution is to take the difference of the current and target velocities, divide it by some amount, and add it to the current velocity, but you could probably find a better way.
you have insane dedication for coming back to old features to make them better, not to mention all the animations, quality and time you pour into these videos. Keep it up, you got a really good thing going here
YAAAAAY! I absolutely adore your videos, the math behind what you do is always so, so cool. For the old Master Cycle video (the linear algebra bit), I stayed after class with my PreCalc teacher, drew the explanation on the whiteboard, and we messed with it for 30+ minutes, just talking about translating math into other engines, how genius the explanation was, and all that. AND GUESS WHAT. He USED that explanation in a future class!! (I of course, made him credit you lol) I’ve been waiting for your next upload to share this story
This is awesome to hear, thank you for sharing! It always makes me really happy to hear people genuinely engaging with the math sections. They're by far the parts of these videos that I put the most time and effort into. Good luck with your studies!
I remember watching this series however long ago and when i saw a new video i like rubbed my eyes and blinked, then when i started watching it i realized that my blender obsession over the past couple years was actually useful for something and i understood what the hell you were talking about with quaternions and normals and stuff! I'm actually so pumped for the second part of this, please keep making this, it's so nerdy and just fucking cool :)))
i want to say, as someone that’s starting to make videos again on another channel, i’m trying to find ways to keep engagement. your videos are GREAT. i know it isn’t easy but you truly make it so seamless. great job dude fr, i can barely imagine how long all of this takes PURELY on the editing side.. cant imagine the code at ALL. i know there’s so much more that goes into it. but i want you to know that as a viewer and also an editor, your work is VERY appreciated and i hope you continue 25:40 LOL i typed this before i got to this part. you did a GREAT job!

I don't even make minecraft datapacks and I still thank mojang for display entities every day because of all the power they have given the people who do, and all the incredible things they're able to make with them
Hey, what an awesome video!! I love that you actually explain the math behind the datapack; it helps me better understand 1) how much work goes into something like this and 2) how HORRENDOUS Minecraft scoreboards are. Just let us store variables and do math on them like normal, Mojang, please...
i love how everyone is creating a datapack to challenge themselfes because they wanted to try something new but i don't recall seeing any mods of botw that are so wonderfully made
its amazing how well explained the math is in all your videos thanks to the time you take to make the explanation animations and stuff, this is like the best highly technical minecraft video ever I love it
been here sense episode one and I just wanna say that even though it looks like you keep abandoning the project every time I see a new video from you it makes my day. I love the videos you make and the way you explain the complicated problems with humor and still get the point across. it really is amazing every time I see that you kept working on this amazing project even after so long.
Another update (that i didnt see mentioned) was manually setting the players' gravity scale. This would be helpful for the climbing mechanic, so that levitation effects dont get interfered with. This could also help bullet time! Either way, it looks so good right now and i doubt this would be necessary :)
Fascinating series on the Datapack! It was intriguing to watch in reverse, seeing the evolution of your improvements. The math-heavy sections were particularly engaging, and I loved your use of 3Blue1Brown's actual animation software. You mentioned possibly making a video about the Python code behind your particle effects and other elements someday - I'm really looking forward to that if it's still in the plans!
I'm learning programming at school and getting better between every video post since the beginning, so now I realise even mire how crazy this all is, amazing job man
I’m not usually one to be sincere however I must say that you and your videos genuinely inspire me to try and lead a life this is mainly driven by creativity
Man, looking at all the finagling required to implement controls for the Master Cycle and climbing really makes it clear how absurdly useful the new player input predicates are gonna be.
4:08 From my personal experience with racing games, drifting feels more like your back end is slipping out from underneath you in a controlled manner, and depending on how much you’re turning vs how much you’re accelerating determines how tight the turn is (more turn then acceleration = tighter turn, more acceleration then turn = wider turn), so actually drifting can make your turn tighter or wider then usual depending on the situation!! :D Not sure how well I was able to explain all that, but I hope this helped at least a little bit if nothing else! :P
THIS, This right here @ 13:20 is WHY I love making plugins over datapacks. WE have ALL of that, co sine, sine, math pow, everything I will never be able to deal with data packs because of this XD Also later on sliced lime came in clutch xD
god, i need something that gives that BOTW map a chance to just naturally generate as you explore. like, imagine you're minding your own business, boating along, and mount lanayru just pops out of the FOW and you realize you've just come around the east side of hyrule, and all of that is waiting to be explored.
This is incredible! But anyways as someone who plays a lot of racing games and has drifted irl (intentionally!) you did drifting wrong. Kinda of a shallow explanation, but while drifting, your bike is moving in one direction, while your wheels are pointed in a different direction. Edit: I just finished the video, and this is insane, I love it!!
about the master cycle, if ur using a horse, u could use the jumping function to jump, its way way more intuitive than other ways of doing it nyalso, the bike should lean more or less during turns depending on the speed, because having it be constant even at slower speeds looks weird
I absolutely love your videos, and I'm finally in math classes that let me appreciate the insane amount of math and optimization brilliance that goes into these. I can't wait for the next part

raise the armor stand to the height of the player, while not having it ride anything. Make sure that it is part of the bike collision, and that will fix the ceiling problem.
I have an idea for the logic for when you ride under a low ceiling. I don't have the game with me right now, but I think I remember that if you crash into a low overhang where the bike could fit but Link can't, you get kicked off the bike and it may or may not despawn. Don't know how that will work in Minecraft, but it could be cool.

i don't think that exists (?), there's the scale attribute but you can't change width or height differently
I think the player should take some damage and get dismounted
