You came to the forest because you want to learn about nature and not read about idle gossip and what they don't like . I think your doing a good job. Keeping it tied up like a dog can be stressful for the bird with so many movements. If they had been more aware, they would have at least left it somewhere where it could be calmer. I'm not an animal rights activist, I just believe it's not the right way to treat a flying bird to deny it even that minimum freedom.
