Bruce Lee was awesome. Leaderboard golf too. surprised there was no gunship, dnd goldbox, or Pirates! to be found. ive got a soft spot for the hobbit text based game too
Gunship was magnificent, I agree it deserved a mention. I Think Pirates was 128K from memory so not sure if it would work on a C64. But yes a great game. But perhaps not suited to everyone. The Hobbit is a ZX Spectrum masterpiece, surely?
My top 10 would be 1: The Last Ninja (especially 3 foe the intro) 2: Boulder Dash 3: Turrican 4: Vendetta 5: Alien Syndrome 6: Ushagi (Ninja rabbit) 7: G.I. Joe 8: Zaxxon (not sure bout the name) 9: Aztec Challenge 10: Karateka
Great list! California Games was def one of my favorites. I didn't even know you could do bike tricks until I accidentally did a 360 one day. Then I was even more hooked trying to figure out what other tricks existed! My personal favorite was Montezuma's Revenge. Kind of crude graphics but it had it all for an early platform adventure game. First game I ever beat, too. Oh yeah, and Lode Runner!!! Stick figure villains have never been scarier! Hehe
Yes! I love California Games, helps me get through the winter every now and then 🤣 The surfing and BMX are my favourite events. I’ve played both of those games you mention, they were fantastic games, crude, but fantastic all the same. Lode Runner still holds up today if you ask me and could easily be a Switch title. Happy times! Thanks for watching and for the lovely feedback. Please share with other like minded people 😊
The C64 would have more memory than my TI 99/4A, but my uncles Vic 20 turned me off of Commodore. (At least until the Amiga came out. I wish I could have had one of them.)
That was like the ultimate Christmas present. I knew a kid that had an Amiga, NeoGeo, PC-Engine. You name it his parents bought it. I used to go round his house, five time bigger than mine and play on systems people only read about in magazines. For me those were incredible times.
My top ten would have (and I didn't get to play anywhere near every game out for c64) would include: leaderboard executive edition golf, turrican 2, first samurai, bard's tale, last ninja 2, pirates!, ikari warriors, arkanoid 2: revenge of doh, paradroid, and kikstart 2.
@@ClassicReplay yeah, but I prefer 1 player zen like experiences now or team games, as I had some rows with friends over games like bubble bobble and ikari warriors.
1. Gi Joe 2. Demon Stalkers 3. Hardball 4. International Karate 5. Bruce Lee 6. Montezuma's Revenge 7. Arkanoid II 8. Action Biker 9. Falcon Patrol 10. Pooyan
The Shoot Em Up section of Turrican 2 was Katakis...a whole separate (great) game initially released but pulled due to its blatant ripping off of R Type. It eventually did get a full release renamed Denaris. Cracks me up they managed to drop part of it into Turrican in the meantime....great way to use the built game. Enjoyed your video 👍
Best game EVER for the C64 (1987 and still to this day) "Maniac Mansion" ! ! ! .... doesn't get any better than this ! ... Barrow Dr. Fred's hamster, microwave it and return the remains. "Dear Fred, I have a gift for you". LMAO
Did laugh when you started talking about Microprose Soccer, i was thinking hang on Emlyn is better and then you mention it 🙂 Who Dares Wins 2 wasn't a budget game when initially release. That cost me £7.95 iirc!
I've never played it but apparently Liverpool is a decent C64 game. Emlyn is a great game though, same he's left us. RIP. I got lucky then, only paid budget price for my copy.
@@ClassicReplaypoor Emlyn. He was always so funny on A Question of Sport. There's a Liverpool game on C64? I'll have to check that out. I have my original c64 but that's in the shed, I'll dust off the mini.
I know it's about personal taste, and there are hundreds of games for the C64. But how can you do a top ten without legends like Archon and Impossible Mission? The games you mentioned only have nostalgic value for someone who played them back in the days. Archon and Impossible Mission on the other hand have very unique gameplay and even get interest from younger generations who never played them before. Cheers!
This is the beauty of opinions. I personally never gelled with Impossible Mission, left me feeling annoyed and cold. I respect what it did, I think I can understand why people really liked it. Archon couldn’t hold me either. Two player was decent enough. Not enough options for me and one I don’t revisit. I get my kids to play all my games and they passed on the two mentioned after five mins of play.
@@ClassicReplay I’m afraid I’m not much of a Master System fan tbh. Went from C64 to Megadrive as a kid so missed out on the MS. I do like Operation Wolf with the gun though...
I pretty much went the same path, so although I own the MS I don’t have a great deal of knowledge about the games that came out on that system, plus all the RUclips vids just cover the same games over and over
Thank you so much, I’ve received the equivalent of death threats over this video list, you wouldn’t believe how horrible people can be 🤣 so good to hear someone likes my choice of games 👍🏻 thx
Started collecting Commodore 64 games a few years back instead of upgrading from AM4 ima went full retard on retro systems and spent a whack on commodore tech upgrades the lot love it more so more than in the 1980's just an epic gaming platform those that know just know the SID FX 3 is a must with a dual stereo monitor speaker system OMG it just is another level of Commodore love cheers lad fantastic pics but ima love so many more games just countless to mention lulz the new games being made like A PIG'S QUEST is OMG just sheer amazing even got my brother a Commodore Breadbin and upgraded it a little with just better VIC and SID serviced it like new old stock condition with a SideKick64 and countless games CRT load had to put them on two separate SD cards as they crashed the Commodore 64 aye that many from 0 to 9 A to M on one SD and the other N to Z it has not stopped me collecting games cassette disc and cart's just in love with the Commodore 64 again aye OCD love pure mental it is an addiction better than any drug or drink ever totally following Lad as love The C64 to bits lmao
Moim zdaniem z tej prezentacji tylko parę pozycji z commodora zasługuje na zagranie w XXI wieku. California Games i Wizball, to absolutne ekskluzywy. Ich remaki na inne platformy to porażka. Mayhem to podróba Mario. A Bubble Boble? Przecież dużo lepsza jest arkadowa wersja na emulatorze. Ten soundtrack rzęzi niemiłosiernie. Trzeba mieć ucho z kamienia, żeby to wytrzymać.
Loved it
After more than 30 years i still cherish the good old C64 - best homecomputer ever with so many amazing games! 😍Thanks for your great video! 🙏👍
Yes, great computer/console. I will do a better updated video on the C64 soon, watch this space and thanks.
@@ClassicReplay Very cool, looking forward to your next video! 😉Cheers...
Bro.... The Last Ninja is my favorite game ever!!! Just love that profile pic man ❤️❤️
The C64 was THE gaming machine of the 80s.
If you mean most popular then yes 👍🏻
Nice video. My favs were; The way of the exploding fist, Impossible Mission, Pitstop 2, Summer Games, Archon, Bards Tale & Spy v’s Spy 😃
Thanks for sharing! I loved the Bards Tale. At the time I’d never played anything like it

The C64 is the best console from the 80s i have ever seen and played. I have a C64 at home and really enjoy it to play with this Computer.
California Games for the win!
What about The Great Giana Sisters? This was my favorite game for the C64. I also played that game on the A500.
I really liked that game on the C64, but I never saw it on the shop shelves.
My favourite c64. Had them all but always go back to c64
Karateka is legendary…at least in my circle from the late 80’s.
It didn't translate well to my home system, but it was certainly legendary on the C64.
My top 10 would be
1: The Last Ninja (especially 3 foe the intro)
2: Boulder Dash
3: Turrican
4: Vendetta
5: Alien Syndrome
6: Ushagi (Ninja rabbit)
7: G.I. Joe
8: Zaxxon (not sure bout the name)
9: Aztec Challenge
10: Karateka
Very good list 👍🏻
At first i found wizball tricky as a kid, but when i stuck with it and managed to upgrade my movement, i loved it
Every word. The same thing is true for me. Initial difficulty curve was very high, but easily one of the best. Thanks for watching 👍

Uridium on Switch was made by the original creators son.

Microprose Soccer was excellent, I especially loved it when it was raining and you could slide the entire length of the pitch in the wet :o)
Great times, great game and gave birth to the one and only Sensible Soccer! ⚽️
This list was so good. Thanks for helping us newcomers figure out which games to play. A++
Thank you so much. I’d be eternally grateful if you could share this video with other like minded people and friends 👍
Mayhem In Monsterland with Creatures I and Creatures II, best platforms and graphically-impressive games on C64. :D
I think a lot of people had moved on by that point, sad but true I believe. So they might have missed Mayhem and Creatures 2.
All good choices. Good memories playing IKari Warriors and Kickstart 2 😉
@@ClassicReplay yeah, but I prefer 1 player zen like experiences now or team games, as I had some rows with friends over games like bubble bobble and ikari warriors.
For me personally, especially with the likes of Street Fighter II - the two player experience is great fun, as is the camaraderie 😝
1. Gi Joe
2. Demon Stalkers
3. Hardball
4. International Karate
5. Bruce Lee
6. Montezuma's Revenge
7. Arkanoid II
8. Action Biker
9. Falcon Patrol
10. Pooyan

All great games from memory. Ocean did a fantastic conversion of Donkey Kong. Even the Amstrad CPC conversion is stellar.
Last Ninja Remix is on my list
Fantastic game, the whole series in my mind was excellent. The music and graphics always a pleasure to experience.
If you can, try the Master System port of Bruce Lee. It’s stunning!

The greatest computer ever
Of that there is no doubt. A truely wonderful machine with an exciting history and amazing catalogue of games.
Great list but what about my all time favorite, Creatures? 🙂
I’ve never really played it if I’m honest, aware of it. But I think I’d moved on to 16bit by this point. But I will definitely revisit

Sid Meier's Pirates!

No Last Ninja?
For me, the top ten is about the games I revisit the most often, hardly ever revisit Last Ninja, although I did enjoy it back in the 80s 🥷
No c64 games were colourful and that is my big issue with it, dull and drab as hell colours compared to the other home computers
All highly subjective. Gameplay will always win out for me personally, the C64 had this in abundance.
4th & Inches
Yes! 100% really enjoyed that game. Not long played it for the first time after your recommendation 👍 ahead of its time
