50 Years of Cabra

They came to live here in Cabra, during the last World War
to this Heavenly place down on Dublin's North Facade
and through the winds of change, its folk, they still remain together
so for 50 years, they've lived through the good times and the bad.
No, Arthur,r he lived in a tent not so far away from the railway
talking to the passing folk as they were going for a pint in Matt's
and from the Liffey Junction, the drovers would parade with all their Cattle
down the Bannow Road, they'd wave after Arthur with his cats.

So let's sing the praise for 50 years of Cabra
Lets all dance like they did in Finbarr's hall

Tony pushed a box-car full of turf all along Kilkieran Road
passed an old tin church where the Father Flash said his Mass
while Whacker collected the scraps from the houses of Inver and Dingle
and down the Rathoath way they said, Norbury's Ghost would pass.

Brings back so many memories, thanks John. We practise that song in christ the King choir for ages before it was preformed with John, Andy obrien & any others. I remember it weather was lovely too 😂❤
