It’s always a good idea to cut a few extra cm / inches, in case your tension is looser, or you are using a slightly thicker rope.

I love your music. I have a question, my 4mm cord is cotton but it looks thicker than your cord.
Thank you so much Renee! I have quite large hands so that might influence how thick the cord looks, but if you're unsure you can always add a few inches to the length and use a slightly longer dowel. This way you're sure you have enough length in case your cord is slightly thicker :)
