Ha ha my washer idea is famous on youtube now.🙂thx.
I was hoping you comment! You are now pinned to the top of the comments section sir! For everyone to see! Thank you, it was a great change!
The washer(idea) is a great tool/knowledge to have! 👍🫶
@scheers100 indeed it is!
This is a beautiful demonstration of your technique. I remember that comment… it is fun watching your techniques evolve as it happens! Your videos are a very appreciated Sunday treat, I miss them when sometimes you skip a Sunday!
Your filming and editing are as always very good. Also, I like that in your videos you not only show your work and technique but you also present the big picture by sharing pictures from the past (when available) and the future (😮👌) of the tree.
I thought this time was not that good. It was freezing and I skipped quality in shooting, for some fast footage and hurry back inside! Ha ha ha! Thank you very much Alexandros for your very kind support! It means a lot! I'll keep trying my best and try not skipping Sundays!!! Have a great and warm week!
@ of course… you clearly have very high standards!
Remember your freezing next time you complain about the mild winter 🥶
Thank you, have a good and warm week too!
Excellent how you show the future result that you’re aiming for !
I find this very interesting so I spend some time in Photoshop to make it happen! Thank you John!
What an interesting technique. The stage is now set for future follow-up videos for the next decade....what a grand result in the end :)
I feel under pressure now! Ha ha thank you, I'm doing my best! Have a great week!
The washer idea is great, I’ll remember that one 🙏🏼 much love 💪🏼💚
Yes, it worked great! I'm glad I was referred to that idea in a previous video comment. Makes life kinda easier!
Fantastic!!! I love it. You always inspire my my bonsai journey!
I'm truly honored Dave! Thank you!
Beautiful piece of wood. ❤
Yes it is! Thank you Martijn!
@ I’m really curious to see what it will look like in the future with this tree.. :) really nice video again!
That’s a cool method I’m gonna use that one day.
Going to look awesome when your done
Will we see it in a video??? Thank you Andy!
@ more than likely mate.
I’ve got a video out tonight at 8pm gmt if you can make it. My first big forest 👊👊👊
@Bonsaicrazy of course dude! Good luck!
Do you plant into pure pear lite? What is the fertiliser that you use? Make sense the washer technique 😊
Thank you John! It is actually 50% zeolite 50% pumice. No perlite. I use a semi organic fertilizer with values 10-8-12 and some Fe and Zn, produced here in Greece. Cheers!
How do you protect the rest of the deadwood? What tools and bits did you use to carve the channel in the wood? Thanks
I did one coat of wood hardener all of the deadwood and a second coat just the part that will be in touch with the soil. That plus my climate will be enough to keep the wood like that for decades. Plus in the future I will use lime sulfur on the part above the soil. I used my Dremel for sanding and carving and my carving bit is a simple carving bit for bonsai, a 10mm (1/2.5 of an inch). Nothing special. Any carving bit will just fine. Cheers!
could you add a rubber washer underneath the metal one ?
Of course! But I think it's not necessary. If I keep an eye on the tree as I water it, I'm going to see the washer starting to push the bark and act fast. It's not that big of a deal. Cheers!
I’m new to bonsai so my question is will it really look like your reference in about 10 years? Thought it’s like 30
Fast growth in a deep, training pot, long growing season and good aftercare will bring the tree close to that in 10 years. The live tree you see it's just one year old since it succesed as a tiny cutting be ause I placed it in a big pot with great substrate. So, the growth is there if you know how to develop it. It's more difficult to maintain it there for decades. Cheers!

Quick trigger!
