Here is a dirt cheap upgrade you may want to do. Add a strip of white LEDs to the bottom of your rod rack, up inside the channel. I did this on my my cat rack and it's my favorite light upgrade. It's like having a shop light in the boat to unhook fish, tie leaders, etc. but you don't get blinded by looking at the light.
Great video Hagan. I've always run older boats. That way I don't cry if I get a little blood or mud on something. I really enjoy your channel and learn a lot from you.
I run a old boat also, a 17.5' alumacraft . It gets the job done. I occasionally go to boat shows and admire the new boats and choke on the price tag. I think it's great that there are folks that can afford to buy them. I have noticed that they dont catch anymore fish than I do. I don't have expensive electronics just a basic unit.
I fell in to a great deal last month,I purchased a 18' starcraft aluminum with a 85hp Evinrude ,been setting for a while now, will be fishing by the end of April..
Hagen brother I love watching your videos. I learn alot from you. Love the family vibes from you. Keep up the the great work everyone loves y'all brother. Big fan Mark
Good video. I like that you are a down to earth fisherman, and the content and commentary are always good and always respectful, thats why I subd and I havent been disapointed yet. Keep em coming. Oh, and see'in as how Im from Arkansas, I luv that boat, roflol. Cant wait till the next one.
I am amazed at your many talents. Looks like there is nothing you can't build if you put your mind to it. Wish you and yours good health and the best of luck with your video channel. Love your videos
At 5:04 when you shot that rear angle my first thought was, hold on a minute does he have a fire pit in there what's he need wood for. Then I saw it wasn't actually in the boat. Thought for a sec you really had it going on.
And if you ever get board my pontoon needs to be rewired, I've been putting it off, it's gonna strand me I know but my goodness wiring is a tedious job.
nice rig. i got a old boat too its a 1987 sylvan pro fisher deep v with the steering on a side 18 foot.. its really similar. i love it. i got the splashwell in back that takes up a little more room. but it came with a deck on it so you could stand on it in calmer waters. i like your slimmer splashwell though. its cool you can work on your own boat. hopefully ill learn the motor ins and out and get a aluminum welder someday. since hardly anyone around here has one, and can save a ton of money doing it yourself.
Nice set up - Hardest part of boat shopping - finding the right style/design that will work for the intended use. I myself prefer a boat with taller sides. Not much for the raised platform boats myself.
The first Video I watched of yours was you and your son a couple of years ago and you were having some problems but got out of it OK. I'm from Kentucky but moved away to SWFL a long time ago. My Kids and grand kids are still there
Looks like you've got a nice fishing boat that you don't have a small fortune in. You've done a great job setting it up customized to how you fish. That boat was made not far from my home. Nice video.
I just bought me a 89 tracker magna to fix up for a catfish boat. Do you just fish this one in big rivers or do you fish it in smaller rivers? I want to fish mine in Arkansas River but am planning on fishing it in my two local rivers the lower black and Lower white here in Arkansas.
Thanks for the video. I’m fishing off of a 24’ frankenpontoon and love it. It’s paid for and gets me out after some big cats. I would love to upgrade down the road to a deep walled V like that. The lake I’m on, Watts Bar, gets some large waves from the wake boats and such. Gives me some great ideas to look at when the time comes.
Hello. Really enjoy the videos. What size Bimini are you running? Looks like 8 foot. My boats the same size. Would like to have the same amount of coverage.
MonArk boats were made in Monticello Arkansas as Hayden stated. The company got sold. I cant recall who bought them and ultimately the Monticello plant closed. Then shortly thereafter SeArk Marine was started (South East Arkansas). They built BIG aluminium craft for military and off shore commercial use. It was crazy seeing those huge boats in our town with machine gun turrets and small cannons. They had to test them in our local lake before sending them around the world. Duracraft had also been made in Monticello years before and had moved out before MonArk. So during the 1990s War Eagle was born at the old Duracraft plant and are made in Monticello today, though at a new plant location. SeArk then got out of the big crafts and begin making recreational boats (speculation: probably after a no compete ran out). So Monticello still has two major players in aluminium boats. SeArk and War Eagle. Crazy how many boat companies have come from Arkansas in additon from the above. Ranger & Xpress just to name a few.
They do great on bright colored monofilament line such as the berkley solar collector or slime line. The one on my little boat is a better quality strip and it is great. The one on my white boat is a cheap one from Amazon and it isn’t nearly as bright. Thanks for watching, if you have any more questions feel free to ask. 👍
I have the xi3 and I bought the gps module and added it on later. I then linked it to my lowrance units. There are problems and the rumor is MG knows about it and there is a reflash update coming out to fix the issues. Just thought I would share before you or anyone else drops some more money on something that isn't quite working right. Hopefully they will fix the issues and stand behind their product.
I just picked up a 16 foot sea ark flat bottom. Wish I could get your thoughts on upfits. I am not as handy around a shop as you so I'll probably have to pay to do some stuff. I am really torn on rod holders. My daughter and I tool it to TN last week and had a blast. Drug baits for the first time and we had success. Great feeling. We live your channel and watch every video. Maybe I'll FB message you some pics. I went and saw Steve Douglass on the way to TN and loaded up on holders but there isn't a good way I can see to mount. I just decided to fish on boat with the holders that are on it before I start drilling ones etc. Thanks again, great video as always.
Thanks for the tour looks perfect imo. Heck I'm still in a jon like your old one still pulling in cats but am thinking on something bigger. Have fun and be careful out there.
You can get a remote control trolling motor on Amazon for $560 when I got mine they were just $400 it’s called haswing but they are awesome trolling motors I have a 21 foot pontoon and with a 55 pound thrust trolling motor it will whip it around pretty good I haven’t had any issues out of the trolling motor and I’ve had it for two years and it’s still doing good
I love that old boat man, it seems like a great boat. I have the same problem with my boat, the center console takes up sooo much room. But I really don’t wanna go back to a side console. I’m toying with the idea of swapping out the console for a narrower one, or modifying this one .
This might sound crazy but I found your channel last week looking up boats and I’ve watched and liked all the videos from last year up til now. Love the content bro. Keep it up.
I enjoy your videos. You have a nice set-up there. I fish out of a 17' SeaNymph and would really love to have a deep V-hull but like you I have a budget and make it work. If you ever decide to upgrade and consider selling this boat I'd be interested in buying it. Happy fishing and stay safe.
Great set up!!! I just got a procraft that's set up for striper/catfishing. Have you ever fished Douglas Lake or Cherokee Lake in East Tennessee? My son and I love your videos!!!
I want to compliment you on a really great channel ...I hope you get my comment since this video is a year old..I found your channel and it's became my favorite fishing channel....I see you use skipjack on a regular basis....I was looking for a way to make alittle extra money and had planned on comercial catfishing but I see alot of guys frown on it but for me I wouldn't keep or sell large fish to pay lakes...I don't like to see people do that...My question is do you think a person could sell skipjack to fisherman? Do you think guys would buy them? It just seems to me that if a guy had fresh skipjack at a good price it might be more profitable to sell bait fish than catfish to markets....I had a friend that did well selling shad but I think they were shut down bc they got greedy and was over fishing due to the fact they were putting in jars and selling to Walmart .....the demand was to great so they drew attention to what they were doing and was shut down.....This was 20 years ago....I'm not talking about catching bait on that level....I'm talking more like a small amount that would equal a part time job at best ...I' see in Hendersonville TN they have a bait house that sell skip and shad ....I can't find anyone with info on doing this....I'm curious if it would be a welcomed service or if it would be frowned on.....my thinking would be if they were affordable and if they we easily purchased maybe weekend angler's might be interested....I'd value your opinion ....All this is just a thought
Always enjoy your videos I have a 16ft. Duracraft with a 25 horse mercury going to build a hagan Grubb rod rack on it and put some lights on its nothing fancy but we have a lot of fun in it God bless
One of the most underrated fishing channels ever. You know he is something to be recommended by Catfish Dave.
Awesome set up buddy that’s a nice boat man don’t need a 50 thousand dollar boat to fish and have fun that’s for sure
These are one of my favorite kind of videos. We've seen you catch giants, and you show it can be done by the blue collar man. Thank you HG
I love these kind of videos. She may be an old boat but you didn’t have to mortgage the farm to get it.
God bless you and yours!

I'm mostly impressed by how clean that garage is lol.
Guess I'll clean mine now 😆
Great video Hagan. I've always run older boats. That way I don't cry if I get a little blood or mud on something. I really enjoy your channel and learn a lot from you.

Mark
Hey hagen I've seen you use a garden hose on your boat to spray your hands off how is that run
Very cool boat and rigging dude !
Like the video. I live in Minnesota and have seen monarch boats up here. Did not know that’s what it stood for.
nice vid bro I love seeing pals set ups and how they modified there boat for fishing. I have a '87 boat and motor myself I can def relate.
I like the anchor ball / oil jug idea, Ill have to do that on my little boat. Great video I love to see how other boats are set up!
Great looking boat Hagen thanks for showing me around it. You gave me a few ideas for my boat.
Gotta love a deep V! Good stuff. I love my casting lights, like you said I use them way more than I thought I would. Thanks for sharing!
Good video. I like that you are a down to earth fisherman, and the content and commentary are always good and always respectful, thats why I subd and I havent been disapointed yet. Keep em coming.

Thank you for the kind words👍

I completely agree. Thank you for watching

How does the led light on the rod rack do. Does it light up the rods at night enough? just asking before i go through the trouble if it doesn't work.

Awesome video!
I got some extra poles for my bimini and stood it up (instead of laying down) It's out of the way (for the most part) now. Hope that helps.
It gets the job done!!!
Thanks for the tour looks perfect imo. Heck I'm still in a jon like your old one still pulling in cats but am thinking on something bigger. Have fun and be careful out there.
Awesome job
Nice boat
I have a 2004 Monark King 160.
That's a great setup Brother.
New to your channel. Great little boat. Great video.
Great video Hagen! God bless!
Cool set up man, just bought a cutting board for mine off your code. Thanks
Man Hayden that was interesting good job
You can get a remote control trolling motor on Amazon for $560 when I got mine they were just $400 it’s called haswing but they are awesome trolling motors I have a 21 foot pontoon and with a 55 pound thrust trolling motor it will whip it around pretty good I haven’t had any issues out of the trolling motor and I’ve had it for two years and it’s still doing good

I got cube lights on back of my boat trailer that are wired in to my backup lights on my truck tkx for the videos
That’s a nice boat ! Is is there a model to look for to get the tall sides ? Really enjoy your videos too!God Bless
Do you know if Katfish offers square rail mounting options? I’d like to get one of those for my pontoon.
Is it fur cell?? :) Come down to tennessee we will get her out on old hickory/cumberland.
Good info
This might sound crazy but I found your channel last week looking up boats and I’ve watched and liked all the videos from last year up til now.
Love the content bro. Keep it up.
Welcome John. You will not find a more down to earth guy than Hagen

29-30 mph ain't bad for an 18' boat. My top speed is 32 with a 70 hp yamaha (4 stroke) pushing a 1756 loaded down
Great set up!!! I just got a procraft that's set up for striper/catfishing. Have you ever fished Douglas Lake or Cherokee Lake in East Tennessee? My son and I love your videos!!!
Badass setup buddy!!! Watched the video where you was making the rod holders and those were some damn good welds!!! Do you weld for a living?

Thanks for sharing have a blessed day in the name of Jesus
How long does the 2 battery last for the trolling motor
Like them steps on trailer nice. J.P
A paid for boat is the best kinda boat. I love the new ones but have always had the older ones. Awesome job. 👊
Get a Minn Kota trolling motor. I have a motorguide and wish I went with the min Kota.
Does it extend your time mich over just one
Check out the Haswing gps trolling motor.
Love the set up but want to know more bout troiling motor on front. I want cheap remote one
Always watch all you videos would really like to take a fishing trip with you if you’re interested.
Hey buddy, did I miss the skips running behind the dams on Ohio
I got me my first boat but can’t get anyone to wire it for me . Inboard mercruiser. Can’t get it to fire up
That's what me and my son need I. Stead of our bass boat
I like.
You shouldn’t keep your life jackets near your batteries . The batteries will release acid vapors and damage your life jackets
Mine slow to I got a 19ft with a 75
Faster boats are overrated son believe me I know I got rid of my fast one I got a pontoon boat now it goes 26 miles an hour and I love it
should have that garmin on it own battery that motor every has an electrical issue it will fry the motherboard on that garmin
Always enjoy your videos I have a 16ft. Duracraft with a 25 horse mercury going to build a hagan Grubb rod rack on it and put some lights on its nothing fancy but we have a lot of fun in it God bless
