- The gorilla family in Antwerpen has a new family member! Baby 'V' was born on 24th of June 2020. We don't know yet if it's a boy or girl but we do know that it's name will start with the letter 'V'. Because in Belgium it's the year of the letter 'V'.
The mother of this little one is Mambele and the father is Matadi.
The little one has a bigger (half)sister called Thandie (born 26-11-2018). Thandie is a daughter of Matadi and Mayani. It's amazing how Mambele lets Thandie come so close to her and the baby and even touch the baby sometimes.
I hope you'll enjoy these tender moments of baby gorilla 'V' being one day old.
You might notice Mambele her mouth is a lot open, she does that when she's relaxed. I used to do that too, that's why I find her so special

@@annychest718 Glad you could get that off your Chest, Anny. However, haven't you ever wondered why gorilla's nostrils are so large? It's to accommodate their big fingers which makes sense. I'm surprised you didn't know that....you should be more informed. The baby didn't feel a thing.

@@lux4785 male silverbacks taking over a harem have been known to kill the previous silver backs babies. Bonobo males usually cant commit infantcide because the females fight back.

The more I see how gentle these gorillas can be, I really find it difficult to imagine how Harambe
would of hurt that kid who fell into the enclosure.
Gorilla's are very friendly creatures and don't eat meat. But they are very protective of their family. But I absolutely get your point ❤️

Awe so beautiful! The big sister and the whole family are beautiful! Is it common for them to have albino thumbs? Or do they sometimes have a white spot of skin or limb. Either way doesn’t matter as long as the beautiful baby is accepted and in good health is all that matters.

Thandie was so gentle with that baby. I have seen other videos with a baby and his older brother where the brother was rough and very jealous of the new arrival. Is Thandies gentleness because she is a female of the species and that nstinct is an nherent trait?
