What if the Calculator App Was a Roguelike!? | Let's Try Calculate It

We've made a calculator roguelike! Yes, it's not a joke. A boring device has turned into an interesting strategy, where each calculator you collect sets its own style of play. Can you count all the numbers and prove who's the king of calculations here?

Richard from "the amazing world of gumball" was a head of its time!1!1😧
Omg no… you’re right. The next Simpsons fr
Elaborate? Which episode are you referring to? I’ve seen the whole series but I’m not getting the reference
@@Grim528 He opened calculator (which he pronounced cal cule uh tore) and thought it was some sort of game. Not sure what episode this happened in.
@@srn347 Oh that’s right! I have to watch that one again. Thanks
@@srn347 when I was like 11 I watched that episode I remember he got zero and said he beat the game
Math lesson time! The modulus operator (%) is simply for getting the remainder when you divide the left by the right, so 21 % 5 = 1, because 21/5 =4 with a remainder of 1. Unfortunately, the wording is a bit unclear on the tooltip, but that's what that operator does. It's mostly used for programming purposes from my understanding, so most people don't really encounter it, so I'm not surprised it was a bit tricky to understand.
as a programmer I can confirm, it is my favourite operator.
@@YuumiGamer1243 so useful in programming
It's also a key component of encryption and one-way functions.
It’s also something people are constantly doing in their head whenever they do clock arithmetic. You mod your answer by 12 or 24 when adding or subtracting hours from a certain time. For example 11 pm + 4 hours = 15 % 12 = 3 am. Or 23:00 + 5 hours = 28 % 24 = 4:00
Mod2 is indeed used quite often in programming as the simplest way to find if a number is odd, since if a number is odd, the mod2 will return 1, giving an easy conversion to true
If it exists, someone will make a roguelike of it
When are we getting a youtube comments section-based roguelike
I mean do you want one...??? LOL what is the gameplay loop? Hero or Villain track, like to dislike ratio? Trying to destroy careers from the RUclips comment section. KEYBOARD WARRIORS!!!
Keyboard warriors seems like a legit title of a legit game, oh wait a minute...@@thebatinthehat1984
@@thebatinthehat1984 there is one that's close, some Twitter themed emoji auto battler, we just need a little more time
You have to win an argument in x rounds. Winning is impossible.
So what internet rule would this be
what number would fit it well anf isn't used?
Imagine your friend doing something in a calculator and saying sometimes "wow im so lucky....damn, i really need those small numbers. You know what - i actually dont hate the square root. That was too easy - i think its time to ASCEND "
Oh man this is a game that would 100% appear in my nightmares.
The +-10 snaps to the number you need if your in range of ten
Considering that it only says “add”, I had no idea it would subtract as well until I saw this video 😅
I think something as simple as +1 to basic operators after each boss would go a long way, or just a shop re-roll. Pretty interesting though, overall.
The Mod button is like division, but takes the remainder instead. If you divide 16 by 15, you get 1, with a remainder of 1. If you divide 23 by 4, you get 5 with a remainder of 3.
Same thing with logarithms. They take the exponent instead of the base. Like 6^2=36 and log6(36)=2.
I feel like it would be better if you had your buttons refresh, and the targets were moving.
Meaning like on the later phases, you would need to get 88,then 55, then 33 etc. then you go to shop.
But like having to re-buy basic functions like multiply/subtract, etc. doesn't feel too good.
You need to use as few resources as possible
what a fun idea! I couldn't help but think of interesting "Relics" that could be added in the future.
But no jokes - i think this game can be actually useful in a math class if you're a teacher with high charisma
Very, Interesting Game - I see this as the Spiritual Evolution of the, Nintendo Switch Calculator App and the, Race to count to 1000
This isn't fair. I WAS JUST thinking about making a calculator based roguelike
I want to know what happens in this game if you try to divide by zero
Watch and find out
@tristanpegnottga2002 did he do it in the video? If he did then I missed it
the old +1 and then press = forever 'game' was the original calculator endless mode
man, I don't wanna get ahead of myself, but I think the writers of this season of roguelike jumped the shark here...
yeah okay, I see the vision

Ever heard of Calculator Speedrun for the Nintendo Switch?
i cant believe this actually looks like a smart game
"Richard, are you still playing that game?"
"One negative is that there's no female characters but at least there's no male characters either."
Aw dang it, I knew I should have saved the remaining Steam Wallet balance on this, it actually looks fun as hell!
Not a big fan of the hidden buttons. Neat game though
I felt that retro I felt that 6:05
Poker was first, then blackjack, now calculator... What will be next?!
Brother said he wasn't good at math but then proceeds to sqrt 41 as if it's nothing 😂
Eh, I just knew it was closer to 6x6 than 7x7
This was so stressful to watch, lol.
Terrence Howard is gonna have a hard time on this one
I'm triggered by the number pad not starting with 1 in the bottom left corner
This has been explained a couple times already but let's see if I can make it a little simpler. The mod (%) operator. It's really only useful in programming although I'm sure there are some weird mathematical functions that actually use it in the real world. Great use case for programming is to determine if a number is even or not. For example to determine if X is even: if (x%2 == 0) return true. So if X=5 then 5%2=1 (because 2 can go into 5, 2 times evenly with 1 left over. So 2*2=4 and 5-4=1)... ok I didn't make that any easier/simpler.....
I remember how smart i used to feel in coding class after using operators instead of if/else/elif sentences lol. Our tasks would be so simple that no one cared to learn operators, but i always loved to optimize the code to my limit. This brings back a lot of memories man
haven't watched the video yet but I need to see sneak item/char/effect/archetype
(It's a gumball reference)
Is there a roguelike wordle style game?
like the old wordworm adventures type stuff?
Words Can Kill
@@sophiasabkv1372 That's scrabble, not wordle.
as a kid i used to pretend my calculator was megaman battle network and the gameplay is kinda what i did
couldn't you do +, 1, 4 to get +14?
Yes
@@Max_JustMax no?
Have roguelikes gone too far? (yes, they did)
They did a long time ago. I just want more regular games being popular again man.. (Without counting AAA releases that is)
i feel like rogouelike games becoming another bad apple. if it exist there will be a version of it
Richard from "the amazing world of Gumball" did a better review of the game
Can you run doom on this..?
Awesome
I am so confused. Do I not understand the game or no? 5:20 couldnt you do +40? And earlier why waste 2 negatives while you could use 1???
no multi digit numbers
@@mathematicskid That explains it :D
OperaGX is not working

Definitely hate math lmao so this video is not for me but i will leave a like to support you see you next vid lmao
Say wut? 😂😂
The only downside is, there are no female character
But there are no male characters either so thats ok I guess
Yes, gender equality is very ok.
