Thank you very much Mac for this objective review and for understanding the reason we created this product this way :-) So glad your Magtube is a permanent part of your gaming sessions. Will do our very best to improve our Valve solution which is, we admit it, a weak point.
Thanks for the feedback, the Index mount works well but just looks a bit 😳 I think you've done the best you could, the controller itself is a bit of an odd shape 🤔
How about the cocking of a gun? MK18 (pop1) is being cocked in the back. Also the different offhand positions (P90 near vs AWP far) could be a problem. I had my problems with a basic 2-piece printed Gunstock in Pop1, so it's never been used again.
I have this stock and it worked great with quest 2 because they have that big tracking ring on the controllers that stick out, but the quest 3 this stock simply doesn't work/track reliably as they don't have those rings, the stock occludes almost all of the controller.
I've been planning and designing my own VR gunstock. I have my vr sent in for repairs, so I'm waiting on it before I can take measurements and start making physical mock-up designs.
I have both the mk iii and the protube. As an AK user in Pavlov it's gotta be the protube. The mkiii bonks my headset trying to view the sights. I'm also going right-handed but left eye dominant so maybe the mkiii problems won't affect right eye doms as bad.
Hey, just curious about the handling with reloads and switching to a side arm. How is it on the Protube? Does getting the magnets back in place feel difficult after a reload? Is it hard to get the thing locked back in when you disengage both magnets for a side arm or reach behind the shoulder to switch guns like in Pavlov? I've got a VRS (MK2, granted) with the off hand grip. And reloading is a dream on that and feels so easy. One of the big complaints I hear about VR stock reloading is it's easy to "panic reload" and fumble getting the connectors back on right with fast reloads, while that averts the issue. But I've had some issues with getting it dialed in right on my 8k X due to the HMD's massive horizontal size and sometimes can't push my head down enough, plus the thing is HEAFTY so even those few extra fractions of a second on twitchier movements vs people without a stock or lighter things have gotten me killed sometimes. Been thinking about the protube since I feel like it'd help me more with the 8k X's size and it looks lighter. But I worry about fumbling around on reloads because of both hands being magnets or if I remove both to switch guns/grab my pistol. How're the VRS and Protube on that front?
It's a muscle memory thing, I have a VRS MK III but I use my ProTubeVR more often. The most important thing is to get your sling in the right position so that when you drop the stock to throw a grenade or switch to sidearm, it sits in the right place when you drop your hand down to re-engage.
I haven't tried the Mammut Apto 2.0 so can't comment, does look similar to a ProTube so maybe their function is similar so it comes down to price. ProTube are sending my a ForceTube to review so I'm currently on cloud 9 about that 😀
been looking to find a video that covers these stocks (and other stocks) for vr users. This was the best one I've run across so far. I know you mentioned reloading here and there in this video but it might be worth a small section of its own? Or is this more or less what you meant by engaging the suction cups?
Engaging the mag-cups while reloading the VRS is more fiddly than the ProTubeVR BUT I also use my ProTube more often so it could be a muscle memory thing 😉
I got a VRS MK III but the tracking on the dominant hand has been really bad. I have the microstock as it was the only one available so its really short and not adjustable. Im wondering if I get an adjustable stock and bring out the dominant hand more if it would help?
Thanks for the video..I ordered the VRS with non dominant hand grip for my index controllers and my pimax 8kx hmd.. combined with my bhaptics x40 haptic feedback suit and bhaptics tactosy haptic arm feedback, Pavlov, onward and contractors are going to become premium experiences.. are there any other vr shooters you know of that can take advantage of the gun stock?
@YaBoyLloyd the only gun stock that I think will be better in hindsight is the protube forcetube ruclips.net/video/7B57luIMBYw/видео.html that has haptic feedback kickback which really adds to immersion but I only discovered that since purchasing the mkiii and is very expensive and I already have the bhaptic tactsuit x40 and tactyos arm devices for feedback
In the beginning you show a clip of you playing Population One, but then did the tests in Onward, my question is, do you use a gun stick while playing Population One? I’m asking because with the climbing, flying, reviving, eating bananas, and sodas, I’m wondering if a gun stick would, or does hinder all or some of those actions at all?
I only climb with my left hand and my right hand only clips into the gunstock when I want to shoot (CX-4 is my favourite gun). I've got the stock setup so that I just drop my right hand to my hip and thats where the magnetic cup is, works really well and has upped my accuracy a lot.
Where is this shooting range in onward? I’ve only found the range where you stand statically and shoot the distant static and moving targets and not move around like this..is this only in an older version of onward? thank you
You'll see a door with a red arrow, its in there. Its one of my favourite parts of Onward, really well implemented. I should do a speed run table on my Discord?
How difficult do you find it to adjust for changing weapons mid game on the mag tube? My biggest fear about the mag tube is that I’ll be forced to go through a lengthy setup process every time I want to use a new gun
I set the ProTubeVR up for my favourite guns (in Onward M16, MK16, MK18, AKS, & MK17). It can be awkward to setup for multiple guns but that is the nature of the beast 🤔
You can loosen the screws a bit, so that they arent floating, but will snap to steps under force. This way you can make adjustments without taking off the headset, but it's also easier to mess up your setup if you push too hard while just playing.
hey Mac im looking to buy Population one but I wonder if I should buy it trought my quest 2 store or on steam and play with virtual desktop. I have a i7-10700k + 3080 with my PC but I know Its not an amazing game with graphic. Do you recommand the quest 2 version because of the imput lag ? Thanks !
Buy the Quest version because its cross buy and your progress carries over from Quest to Oculus PC version. I mostly play on Quest 2 using Virtual Desktop but sometimes I play standalone and any progress carries over so best of both worlds 🌎
@@MacInVR oh really !?! so you buy at one place only and you dont have to buy it again on steam ? Or you mean if I buy it on the two store it will progress over ?
I ordered up MK III and some accessories. It'll be here next week. Denise from VRS has been a dream to work with. It's not cheap, but what is that's well made?
@@parkernagtegaal195 It was $130 USD. I ended up getting some additional accessories that made it more expensive. It's cheaper than the protube as the price for it is in euros.
Do you know how to contact VRS? I placed an order but never got the email confirmation and there isn't a contact page or email on their website..? Thanks
@@MacInVR haha they play cool too, I just got them yesterday, it's my first gunstock so I can't compare but I think the design is very smart, you can even pump shotguns while keeping your offhand on the barrel :)
@@MacInVR and by the way thanks for your videos, they helped me a great deal in choosing a stock (I was going for the VRS but wanted a cheaper equivalent) and deciding to upgrade my Q1 to a Q2!
Haven't played for nearly 2 years because of the pandemic but yeah, love playing airsoft. Very lucky that we've got 2 great sites nearby as well, Dirty Dog Airsoft at Shildon and NAA at Dishforth 😀
More like if you are Jeff Bezos, buy both companies and make them build a customized gun stock to your liking haha. I have a 3d printed gun stock designed by Sanlaki. They sell them on their website but they also provide the 3d designs for free. It is more like the VRS and it looks awesome. Adds a ton to the immersion.
Lol The price of a basic build is comparable to buying an entire 3d printer. Why not just buy the 3D printer an print as many builds as your heart desires. I guess the developers are hoping you are just lazy either that or they’re not that good at marketing

Just got VR last week. Watched A LOT of vids on VR. This channel is the best out of all of them in my opinion. Keep up the great work!

Holy shit, I've never seen your videos before, but this was an AMAZEBALLS comparison between the two. Subscribed, yo!
