Your drone footage of the canal boat was pretty awesome! When you are out by yourself, just riding for fun, what type of speed do you average?

Thank you :). In this video I felt a bit lazy and drove a bit slower than normal. 26.6 kph (16.5 mph) on average. This means that when I'm on the straights, I usually hit a speed of around 30 kph (18.64 mph), but because I need to slow down on intersections and roundabouts, the average is lower.
Most of the time when I'm alone, I do challenge myself and try to drive at least 36 kph (22.3 mph) continuously or faster. And after a while I speed up till I drive between 40 kph (24.85 mph) and 50 kph (31.06 mph) for about half an hour when possible. Then I drive a bit slower to 36 kph (22.3 mph) to recover again. This is what I like to repeat during solo trips. Good to know Is that the faster speeds usually fit rural area's. In cities I cannot mostly cannot drive that fast.
Good to know is that a couple of factors determine how easy it is to drive faster.
      Tire and air bellow pressure:
If the pressure is to high, the bike will bounce to much. If it is to low, you need to put more energy into pedaling. The pressure needs to be adjusted on your weight and how much stuff you carry with you. You can only determine this by trying.
      Weather:
When it's cold, lubricants on the chain, shockbreakers, pivoting parts, axle etc will be less "flexible". Because of this you need to put more energy in it. And to be fair, when it's cold, I must admit, my body isn't that flexible either. I guess it makes a 5 to 10 kph (3.1 and 6.2 mph) difference between summer and winter temperatures
      The road:
It's really unbelievable how much the subtle differences between types of asphalt determine your speed. Sometimes it feels almost like driving through mud or gravel. And sometimes it feels like driving without any effort!
When I take part in tours, they are usually split up into 3 speed categories. People who drive, 20, 25 or 30+ kph (12.42 mph, 15.53 and 18.64+ mph).
I think I can also say something about age a little bit. Generally speaking and certainly not everyone, I do see that most people aged between 20 and 40 drive comfortably at speeds around 36 kph (22.3 mph). Most people between 40 and 55 between round 27 (16.77 mph) and people older than that around 22 kph (13.67 mph). It is not my intention to harm people with these statements.
If I did learn one thing in my life about age, is that it really does not matter that much as what I was thinking. I did ran half marathons and loose everytime from people older than 60! And was around 30 years old that time!
I think that I might bundle this knowledge in a video some time.
Does this answer your question sufficiently?

@@julesvelomobile Yes indeed! I average about 9.5 mph on the trike.
