I just wrote a long love letter to my new home of Dallas but I accidently hit cancel. Suffice it to say that this is a lovely little town in the middle of farmland. Small town feel, folks are welcoming and kind and you can make a left turn without needing a traffic light. Any kind of culture, shopping, sports (all year), food and beverage just over an hour away. Wineries everywhere! Some nice restaurants and stores if you don't want anything too fancy. Homes being built like crazy. A very good retirement facility here that has a range of options in assisted living homes and apartments. For surgery rehab to end of life care.
Great place for families with kids and older folks.
There are hills in the near distance. Sometimes the clouds are so low they block the deep greens of the woods and farmland on the hillside. Mountain top in the distance on a crystal clear day.

Lots of younger folks are moving here, too, who don't want to be stuck in the city. Room to breathe and time to think out here. Anxiety levels drop as Salem traffic is left behind. Avoid the West Salem bridge out of the city anytime near rush hour. Been out of Salem six years and cannot believe how much worse the traffic is now. And homeless people everywhere. Long waiting lists for affordable housing for low income, seniors and disabled folks.
