The loss of the wall running is a crying shame, but I won't claim to know better about game development than the person developing the game, so simply take it as an observation rather than criticism.
Overall a massive update that looks fantastic. You're blowing a bunch of other devs outta the water right now.
While wallrunning is cool and all, it's just not for every game. Games with wallrunning require large maps, ways to build lots of speed, and that it's part of the core mechanics. Not just tacked on to the side.

@@domevans_devwall running looked super cool, but I think your climbing would be a good mechanic. I remember when advanced warfare was released and it was a nightmare trying to play with people boost jumping everywhere 😂 good dev decision on your part!

@@domevans_dev a thing that might be interesting is being able to pull out a pistol if you have that equiped but as you shoot you slowly slide down the wall like you are losing grip

Another mechanic you could add to avoid fall damage that hasn’t been done in many games is sliding down the wall to slow your fall. In other words you air strafe back into the wall and being against the wall while falling slows your fall rate and removes fall damage. I think it would pair well with your climbing mechanic because it would be cool while climbing to be able to turn your camera and automatically pull out your gun and start sliding down. Would provide some good mixups in vertical movement speed. I think I’d feel pretty badass shooting at somebody while sliding down a wall lol

@@xMvmory yeah it’s pretty common in 2D platformers. I’m sure it’s been in some 3D games before but can’t think of any implemented the way I was thinking of

@@domevans_dev literally the first thing i thought of, also jumping from a wall slide could give you a boost forward for some advanced tech
You know I really like this idea and it would feel very badass to slide down the wall. I also wonder if the animation of the wall climb could be changed as well. The slow climb up I feel would take away a lot of the emersion and speed of the game

Hey it looks great, love the addition of the wall climb to add extra verticality. Something I would suggest is too have certain customizations of the gun change the crosshair and such to make it easier to aim. Take tf2 as an example how you could do it while keeping it quite stylized.
This looks fantastic mate, I know it's only early days of development but I think maintaining the stylised look is a good idea but I feel like having realistic lighting and shaders could go a long way. Keep up the great work nonetheless!

That looks so cool! (just so you know if you make a player model that only renders as a shadow and remove the shadow from the arms you can fix the floating arm shadow)

Man, I was so excited about the wall run mechanic. The unusual, fluid locomotion was the whole reason I was invested in this game. The climbing just feels so... jarring by comparison.
I really hope this turns out great. I love the idea of switching mods on guns and having some movement alongside it. The movement animation looks great but you should give it more character to fit your game style. IMO it looks choppy and kinda basic. I bet that if you made it more dramatic and playful (idk what that would be lol) it would fit more into the universe of your game. Almost like the Splatoon movement if that makes sense. I know animation is hard and I'm sure it's not high on your priority list but that's just my insight. Best of luck on your game dev journey.

Since Ive never game programed the Integer Gun combo sync is so clever.
One thing I thought about after the first part was having movement abstracted to it's different components (jump / sprint / crouch becomes vertical up / horizontal / vertical down).
Those components can have different ways to be expressed (vertical up can be a "normal" jump, jetpack behaviour, a long leap, vertical teleportation)(horizontal might be sprinting, dashing, retracing your last steps, slowing down but shielding up)(vertical down like ground pounding, sliding, sneaking, dropping through the floor)
These expressions can then be bound to the gun parts and/or other equipment or trinkets or something.

So impressed with how easy you make it look; Also sliding ,realistically that is, would fully break your legs after a fall. The only reason rolling works is because of spreading the impact along your back and thus making it better an less painful to land. Just a little nitpick for realism, you don't have to change it if you don't want to.
Nice looking game so far! Cant wait to see the complete version! I do feel that the shaders should be a little more intense to add more vibrance to the game!

Great job. All I think it needs is some kind of way to balance it (maybe have you make the gun but you are limited to X amount of parts or a perk system which has a perk for extra parts), whatever you think will work, and of course polish.
could be cool if a drone follows you around carrying the gunparts, like a bordelands vibe, idk, great video.

Also idk if I missed this in the last devlog, but are the bullets hitscan or projectiles? Just wondering as a game design tip, and do projectile bullets fit in a fast paced shooter?
The game is looking GREAT! I have one more suggestion, when you make the settings menu, can you make a setting for the graphics. If the game looks too good, my laptop may blow up😂

I’m no coder. And I have no idea how blend trees work. Or what you currently have for the animations, but I saw another video where someone was making games, and they added a blend tree to their animations. It made it so the animations, well, blended.

concept for a hidden mechanic to replace the reload interupt,
reload before running out is faster like a lot of fps game but the kicker is that if you reload with a empty mag and a bullet in the chamber you get a small buff
it would be really cool if you made a coilgun as a base for a gun and it would use less powerful projectiles but have more range and shoot fast and it could also turn into a railgun with a attachment to the barrel

Great video. I think if you wanted wall-running again, you could probably give it some gravity & stamina to make it used for traversing over gaps. I do think wall-climbing will add a more unique playstyle though. Also, the inaccuracy looks high but that could just be from watching it and not playing it. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy watching these videos.

Damn I really love the idea. I hope that you will add some really game changing parts for guns because just changing the stats a bit is borring... Why not looking for inspiration in the borderlands series? Like guns with melee attack, new mechanics, elements etc... I'm just throwing some random ideas here lol... Anyway this looks great great job!
exciting stuff. love the premise of the idea. always dreamt of a game that took this concept but mashed it up with borderlands/destiny style mmo/raiding/bossing etc... farm variety of gun part rareness and parts that change element, effect, shot count, etc.... then build your ultimate guns to take to raids to get even better stuff. seems like a no brainer that nobody has decided to develop and i feel like the tech is finally there to make it happen in a smooth polished product.

Wall kicking, if you are on a wall push jump to kick off of it and gain momentum in both vertical and horizontal, and if you are in the falling state and looking away from the wall push jump to kick off of it and gain 1.5x more momentum then doing it normally.
You should add underbarrel atachments like an underbarrel shogun or a m203 Launcher, that way you could make an underbarrel grappling hook to help movement and verticality.
You could also keep wall running but only in some special kind of wall
I know the VR audience isn't very big but VR support would be pretty cool to add in the future

You should make a modular crosshair builder. So you could unlock colours and shapes for the crosshair.
one of the reasons i love Apex is because of the skill ceiling on movement, and learning mechanics that a bit to learn but hours to master, I wish more games would create more skillful movement mechanics
Wall climbing kinda reminds me of how splatoon works, with it being so exposed but giving height advantage.
Different skins might be a good shout... Great work tho 👏

also the name will be reconsidered right? custom fire sounds a bit generic in my opinion, you could try something unique (i sometimes translate words into other languages for name ideas) but eh you can solve that on later

I feel like the guns would make more of a pew than a bang sound. just my opinion for when it comes to making sound.

Since the game is about creating guns I think it would be pretty dope if some unique movment mechanics tied into the guns, it would make for an extra level of complexity when building guns as well. Classics are of course grapple and grenade/rocket jumping but you could also shoot at the ground to have a little hieght boost when a specific attachment is on or launch a teleporter that activates 1 sec after shooting, im sure there are plenty of super cool mechanics you could add but none would be to overpwered cause the attachement would affect your gun as well (like maybe the height boost attachment decreeses aim)

instead of completely binning canceling reloads, idk how much development it adds, but I always enjoy seeing video games do staged reloads, so if you cancel after taking the mag out and continue to reload it starts with you putting a mag in. or if you cancel right after putting the mag in, reloading or shooting will cause you to chamber the round first
