I’ve had this Sears Tower Reflex for years but it’s just been sitting on the shelf. Today, we’re dusting it off and seeing what we can make with it using some expired Kodak Portra 400VC. It has some limitations but it’s still a very capable camera.

I shot with my first TLR at age 8 y/o, using a Bedfordflex, still have the photos I took with it and yes, I still have the camera at age 58, I can email the photos to you if interested. Like so many, I drifted into digital, but over the last few years watching your channel, it reignited my passion for film and my love of the TLR format. Thank you for all the great entertaining AND educational videos over the years, keep up the great work, hope the finger recovers fully but delighted to see you have recovered so well and doing well. Please do make a point of going back to that Gas Station !! Love to see more, I've shot a couple similar disused gas pumps here in Ireland! Cheers from the Emerald Isle.

Thanks for the give away opportunity Matt Day. In comparison it’s hard to imagine any of today’s entry level digital cameras will ever become a desirable piece decades from now no matter how more capable. I’m guessing that your strength is returning based on the preference for the Pentax 6x7. I’m glad. Also thank you for the video on digital camera film digitising. Thanks again.

Matt, I am glad you are recovering, albeit somewhat slowly. Ticks can be very nasty. I started shooting in the 60’s and preferred b/w. Your pictures are great especially those of your family. Thank you for posting them. Digital can be easy and cameras are getting better, but there is something about film that still takes my breath away. Thank you, again, for all your efforts. Jim

You're quite an inspiration not just in terms of your photography but in terms of your recovery from the Tick incident. My dad is severly disabled so I appreciate how frustrating it must have been and still is in terms of still suffering with some nerve damage but you never gave up. I have followed you for a while and you had a lot to deal with but toughened it out and still give so much to others. Your photography, your strength and the fact you adopted your dogs makes you a hero of mine! Cheers from the UK.

One of these Sears TLRs, rebranded from a Japanese manufacturer, is the "Tower 25". This was made by Aires, which made a couple o of versions of a TLR. The version sold as the Tower 25 mounts an exceptional Nikkor lens, 75mm 3.5. Either as A Sears Tower or as an Aires, this TLR is one those once in a lifetime collectible "finds". It's also a decent photo machine with a great lens.

This looks a lot like my Rolleicord K3B. Mine goes up to 1/500 but it doesn't have flash sync and a self-timer. The ground glass is dark as well. Saving up for the US-made custom ground glass.

Humm! Nostalgia is such a sweet-bitter feeling! From time to time I suffer from nostalgia for the era of analog photography and the remedy is to take the Ashai Pentax K1000, carry it with one or two rolls of film and lose myself in any landscape taking pictures. Film development and post processing are also part of the treatment.
By the way, the photos taken by this Sears Tower Reflex were very acceptable.
I hope you recover 100% the functionality of your index finger.
    Greetings from Portugal

Hey Matt, thanks for the incredible enthusiasm for film! The Tower Reflex looks almost identical to the Toyocaflex, which fits the narrative of bringing Japanese cameras over and re-branding them. For an entry level camera (at the time) it has given some great results. Nice to see that it has a front mounted shutter release button. My one gripe with the more expensive Rolleicord is the shutter release that has to be pulled sideways, it's just not as stable.
