That ending with Tamiyo is such a gut punch, she was my favourite planeswalker, and one of the few planeswalkers that didn't cause a major tragedy that we know of. Although hinting that the three scrolls might actually get properly used in the future does seem intriguing. The return of the Wanderer and filling out her backstory is quite nice, I've always found her to be an interesting character and wanted to see more of her outside of WotS. I originally thought that they were setting up for Himoto being controlled by Tezzeret to disrupt Kaito, since they put so much emphasis on both that kami being special, as well as the dangers of merging kami and technology. Plus, I think that's now the third bend to the "no organic matter" rule, with the first two being Yanggu's dog and Kaya taking Rat.

Tamiyo was my favourite PW, honestly teared up when her compleation was described. Especially since we know what the process of 'being compleated' exactly means and what it involves... i really hope they find a way to help her like Karn. I would not have cared about anyone else being compleated, but her ... broke my heart
The Shadow over Innistrad story implies that Tamiyo was possessed by Emrakul when the Imprisonment to the Moon happened. There was a faint residue impression of a thought in Tamiyos head afterwards about "it not being the right time" (this being Emrakuls thought), making it seem like Emrakul actually removed herself. I forgot who, I think Ugin maybe, made a prophecy once that a dire fate would befall the Multiverse if the Eldrazi were ever destroyed. These plot points give me an idea that Emrakul could become a big deus ex machina (deus ex luna?) at the end of the coming phyrexia plotline, with her being unleashed as the final "rescue" against the machine nightmares. It might be combined with some kind of revelation that the Eldrazi actually fulfill a kind of (un-)natural reset button role to the multiverses planes. Ulamog devouring all that is (removing status quo), followed by Kozilek changing all that is (creating potential for new existence) followed by Emrakul catalyzing growth (propel evolution of all that is). Although the last point is very shaky, seeing as Emrakul seems to change everything exclusively into a twisted reflection of herself. I think it would be an interesting plot constellation, underlining the enigmatic eldritch nature of Eldrazi, not being easily categorized as good or evil. I'm still rooting for the Phyrexians to have a strong run though, I want loads of inspired messed up machine body horror cards, they are one of my alltime favourite fictional horror factions.

Or we see emrakul be unleashed and compleated using the combined powers of phyrexian oil and cosmos elixir and given the propel evolution of emrakul the praetors could just have emrakul evolve planes into phyrexian/eldrazi monstrosities
I absolutely loved this story, it gave me the lore of the wanderer meanwhile being a very good short story, and bringing a super intense storyline with jin gataxis and tezzeret making the first phrexian planeswalker. I’m excited for whats to come!!

It bothered me more than I thought it would. We already lost Glissa and Ezuri, two noble, heroic spirits. Almost lost Karn too. Tamiyo is a family woman and a very relatable character.

I've been wanting them to axe more Planeswalkers to give things some stakes, but it's brutal to see the first one in a while be such an unassuming, kind, minor one. Honestly, Tamiyo was part of the incredibly small club of "Planeswalkers who weren't ever responsible for a massive tragedy." RIP I really thought we would see the first Compleated Planeswalker in Koth, who had stayed behind on New Phyrexia, but dang. This hurts. I'm so torn between mourning Tamiyo and hoping that her "Compleated" mechanic means that wizards is going to cull the herd a bit.

As someone said to me in a reddit comment: "If their objective was to make them hate phyrexians to an audience that didn't know them before, they did it perfectly." Seeing the wholesomest, calmest planeswalker turned into their puppet makes me want to punch Jin in the face.
They also basically "erased" her connection to her actual family. From what it sounds like, she still *remembers* who she was before being compleated, but now she only cares about helping Phyrexia. That is what's got me pissed off, they forced one of the most successful planeswalkers (as in she has made and has *kept* a family that doesn't really get put in danger) to leave her family. I'm a family man, myself. I want the Phyrexians to burn >:(

I also love the way he introduced tamyos -completion- with the breaks in the cards and the zoom in on the card pieces. It's like she was broken like the card, but now she is together!
I also believe compleated Ashiok is a guarantee at this point. Ashiok went looking for phyrexia and knowing Ashiok, it wouldn't suprise me if he went through the compleation process willingly.
I could totally see *war of tarkir* as a potential boiling point in the future with the khans and the dragons maybe teaming up to fight the phyrexians. Presumably, after more planeswalkers are compleated.
Maybe the fight culminates on Tarkir? Maybe Ugin and Bolas make some return from the Meditation Realm being connected to Tarkir somehow. They return at some crucial moment during the fight, may be wishful thinking. But i feel like Dominaria is definitely gonna continue the Phyrexian plot

As someone mentioned, it's tragic that it is TAMIYO who is the first, and this certainly does set up Phyrexia as a multiverse-wide threat. As much as this turn of events is terrifying, I hope they let it develop for a while rather than the bizarre and hasty way they ended the Eldrazi and Nicol Bolas.
What the freaking heck, whats goin on?! Tamiyo's compleation took me by surprise. It's really sad. Will she be able to turn back to normal? I can only hope. Ashiok learned about Phyrexia from poking around in Elspeth's head, and Tibalt had some weird seed thing jammed in him by Vorinclex, whom I doubt removed it when requested. Those two are likely next, imo. Alternatively, Wizards decides to go for the throat, and has Tamiyo lure Ajani into a trap and he gets compleated too. That'd fuckin' suck.
Personally, I really hope Tamiyo can at least, mentally and emotionally, be returned to her former self. I feel the reality chip is key. Afterall, it seemed it was just as important as a planeswalker to their plans. So, maybe the chip can be used to return Tamiyo to normal, maybe not her physical state, but the rest of her at least.
From what we know so far, there’s little hope for the Tamiyo we knew to return. However, Compleated individuals DO have a sense of self agency, and have even betrayed Phyrexia at times.

See, I kinda think the opposite. Tamiyo in a sense is a "key" to Emrakul. Although mind controlled, Tamiyo is the one who sealed Emrakul in the moon with a spell. So, it would be assumed she is the only one who can "release" that spell. Now, let's say all this Phyrexian stuff builds up into another "War of the Spark" scenario where all of the multiverse Planeswalkers battle the Phyrexians in an all out war, and let's say, they are looking as though they are gonna lose. What would you do? My thought process would be, "if we can't beat them, bring in something that can." Nahiri manipulated Emrakul to Innistrad, why not to New Phyrexia? Get Emy out of Innistrad's moon and drag her to New Phyrexianto wreak havoc. Kind of like a Thor Ragnarok moment. Thor couldn't beat Hel, but Surtur could. And he was simply a natural force, not necessarily a malicious being with malicious intent as Hel had. It's the same with Emrakul. Although also a world destroying monster, she is a natural being withing the multiverse. The Phyrexians seek to warp it to their will. I just think that maybe they want Tamiyo under teir control to avoid what would be a catastrophe to their plan (as a giant, world warping giant Lovecraftian being would be).
@@turtlebro0017 I am Really hoping for a Mechanical Body Horror vs Cosmic Eldritch Horror showdown set in the future where it turns out that Compleating Tamiyo was a massively bad choice because of her connections to Emrakrul. You get two themed sets. One like Shadows over Innistrad where there's hints something is wrong in New Phyrexia and the second is like Eldritch Moon where old Emmie shows up and shit goes south real fucking quick for the Phyrexians, honestly they could do with an L as the last few years they've been getting win after win.
I mean, here's the thing. I feel like somehow it's all gonna tie back and Emrakul will inevitably be involved. Tamiyo was the one (although mind controlled by Emrakul) to trap the Titan in the moon. In some way I feel like that's gonna come back into play. Whether the Phyrexians want that to happen or not has yet to be seen.

Emrakrul hinted that they would be rejoicing her return or that they should be and it was odd. Then proclaimed it is not time and forced Tamiyo to read her spell. She seen something and basically said I don't want to play right now.
This story is incredibly compelling. I've been wanting a return to Kamigawa ever since the return to Ravnica was a thing. I'm highly anticipating the future storyline. We had Vorinclex on Kaldheim stealing sap from The World Tree which could be like the kami energy. Seems like we are headed for another War of the Spark style event in a few years.
So just hoping we can get Tezzeret as the new father of machines across the multiverse, which ideally get invaded in constant losing battles for the next literal decade of mtg lore. I miss the old days.
So angry. I loved Tamiyo, and HATE Phyrexia. Makes me feel impotent since I have no control over where this story leads, but hope that some day there's a way to reverse this process and save her.

it was only a matter of time til phiraxians would figure out how to make planeswalkers, especially since they lost Karn the first time. Honestly I think this is a good development as the steaks has been greatly risen. Nicol Bolas was a great threat to the multiverse, but so are the phiraxians. Before they were limited to one plane, then due to shinanigahns took over Mirroden, if i got that wrong my apologies I am fairly new to mtg lore. This definently rises the tension of the multiverse and will definently challenge the gatewatch and all other planeswalkers much like the war of the spark. But now planeswalkers will literally have no where to run anymore. They don't have the option to jump to a new plane and try to start a new life...if they keep jumping from plane after plane, a normal planeswalker would get exhausted....phiraxian planeswalkers however...they might not ever tire as they have become more machine than organic matter....Literally going full 'Terminator' at this point. I look forward to seeing what is to come.
Elesh Norn as a Phyrexian Planeswalker God They now have the technology to turn Planeswalkers from Kamigawa and the Cosmos Elixier from Kaldheim to make gods...this will be so epic! Can't wait to find out what the other Praetors will do to compleat their plans ^^
I like how they took the wanderer, my favorite planeswalker because of how messed up her spark is and made her even better with her being an actual kamigawa emperor. And I love kamigawa.

Very possible considering she sealed herself into the moon its likely that Eldrazi don't see time in the same way as we do and she foresaw the phyrexian and tamiyos involvement. Emrakul is very intelligent as seen with her conversations with Jace
Oh, I'm so torn on this! The fan in me is so crushed by this reveal. Tamiyo was one of my favorite Planeswalkers. Her magic associated with the power of storytelling is incredible and made for an interesting character. Her attempts to be completely neutral also raised a lot of ethical issues regarding the nature of Planeswalkers, which I think was needed for the lore. Also, she's one of the few Planeswalkers with a stable family life. It was hard to see the art for Tamiyo's Compleation without thinking about the pain both mentally and physically she is feeling in that moment. She had children for God's sake, why must you be so cruel? But the writer in me absolutely loves this twist. It's what the lore has been needing for a while. We needed something to make us feel, to raise the stakes, and to actually get us fans talking again about this story. It's been rough getting back into the story since War of the Spark, but this is finally starting to get interesting thanks to the Kamigawa story. I look forward to another era of good storytelling if this keeps up. I'm mad they killed my precious Planeswalker, but I can't wait to see what they do with this now.
This is a bigger turning point in MTG's lore than the War of the Spark. And hearing every japanese word/name being pronounced flawlessly was satisfying. Good work man!
Tamiyo is a very tragical character. Previously she was controlled by one of "Great Eldrazi", now she is phyrexian puppet. Furthermore, 1st Vorniclex in Kaladheim, now Jin-Gitaxian in Kamigawa suggest that we may get Phyrexian-focus expansion in the next year. Finally, don't forget that Tezzeret is working with Dimir guildmaster and they already gained Grull and Orzhov support.
Great content, thank you. I would love if you showed more of the actual cards that portray the parts of the story you're describing. It's much easier to remember the key points that way and it's cool to see how the story impact is portrayed in the cards mechanics too. Which we missed out on in this video, but it was still great!
I’m such an optimist but im REALLY hoping that this will turn into a weird emerkul saves the day spin. She warps stuff. phyrexians warp stuff. We know shes up to something… if only we could turn the two against each other. I get it, gut punches happen for a reason… but this us why i could never kill anyone in my stories XD i was the only one in college who didn’t enjoy the occasional character murder XD
Bold move, good choice, it shakes up the story by a major mile. This means any Planeswalker is now at risk. Worse then death, servitude under corrupted mind is now not only possible, but as the “compleat” mechanic suggests, but recurrent

My question is.....which Planeswalkers do you think will be compleated next? Imagine if members of the Gatewatch start going missing and then we find out theyve been turned into Phyrexians.
Up until this point, planeswalkers and their sparks were untouchable by the Phyrexians - to me they felt like a beacon of hope in the fight against Phyrexia. But the compleation of Tamiyo was disturbing to me in that it shows no one is safe. Nowhere is safe. She is the first, but she won't be the last. Who'll be next? (Plus what'll become of Koth, who's pretty much fighting day and night within Phyrexia itself?) However, I really like how they wrote Kaito and the Wanderer. The animated Kamigawa trailer was beautiful. Here's hoping to see more of them!
I think that Phyrexian planeswalkers are exactly what the current mtg story needed. There's a lot of potential to explore here in the coming conflicts and I'm excited to see how the events unfold
Oh my sweet summer children... yes, Tamiyo's fate was a gut punch, but do you remember how the Magic novels used to be? Do the names Avila, Crovax, or Ertai mean anything to you?
It really sucks that this wasnt a 2-3 set block, already 3 minutes in theres like 3-4 different groups that should represented in a set. Theres just so much going on in the set, it would be so cool if we could get more ninjas and samurai and such while still having as much if not more phyrexian representative cards.
I'm curious how the relationship between the Phyrexians and Tezzeret is. Do they see him as already compleat? Is he controlling them? Will they turn on him, infecting him.. and then with his powers he would truly be a force to recken with, especially on Phyrexia.
Don't forget Ashiok is heading to find Phyrexia also after ashiok got into the mind of Elspeth. So Ashiok might become the 2nd phyrexian walker. Tezz, Ash, and Tamiyo is a powerful trio.
I don’t know how it could be done. It would take some masterful skill to write it well… but something tells me the phyrexians can’t control a planeswalker as well as they think they can. I think Tamiyo was chosen for more than just her fanbase. She is a being of truth and neutrality. This goes against her nature. I see an anti-hero in the future, not an enemy. And i still think something is up with Emerkul and that scroll. But would they really try to write such a big story so soon after WOTS? Eldrazi vs phyrexia vs phyrexian planeswalkers vs everybody else? And Tezzerett and Elish Norn… boy thats a match made in heck and its either going to work, or go down in flames…
So far two planes need to be glassed... (3 technically) kaldheim and now kamigawa... Possibly even on ixalan too.... Mirrodin needs to be ended, I wonder if emrakul will meet them and fuck up the phyrexian plane
It's official. We have the possibility of Phyrexians and Eldrazi at the same time in the same time due to Tamyo. Maybe as enemies to each other. Working together? I can't see that happening.
Damn... I know I said I wanted to see phyrexia return, but not this way... We already lost Venser to them, and now Tamiyo... They keep taking my favorite Planeswalkers. I really hope we get an Elspeth story with Tamiyo where she fights to free herself.
You know, I kind of figured Tezzeret would be the first compleated Planeswalker considering he has no issues working with Phyrexians from the way it seems, he's already partially metal, has the Planar Bridge in his chest, and is a solidified antagonist of the series. Months ago I would have painted him as someone who would be the 3rd Father of Machines after Yawgmoth himself and an unwilling Karn.
This sets up a second war of the spark in a couple of years, a new gatewatch including a monored raging ajani, elspeth in white, a healed garruk led by jace vs tezzeret and his phyrexian minions tibalt and tamiyo.

These plot points give me an idea that Emrakul could become a big deus ex machina (deus ex luna?) at the end of the coming phyrexia plotline, with her being unleashed as the final "rescue" against the machine nightmares. It might be combined with some kind of revelation that the Eldrazi actually fulfill a kind of (un-)natural reset button role to the multiverses planes. Ulamog devouring all that is (removing status quo), followed by Kozilek changing all that is (creating potential for new existence) followed by Emrakul catalyzing growth (propel evolution of all that is). Although the last point is very shaky, seeing as Emrakul seems to change everything exclusively into a twisted reflection of herself.
I think it would be an interesting plot constellation, underlining the enigmatic eldritch nature of Eldrazi, not being easily categorized as good or evil.
I'm still rooting for the Phyrexians to have a strong run though, I want loads of inspired messed up machine body horror cards, they are one of my alltime favourite fictional horror factions.
Yawgmoth revives steel cage match with Emrakul then Urza outta nowhere with the steel chair. Let’s full send it, but seriously since the eldrazi fell phyrexia has leaked into almost every plane, coincidence?
Or we see emrakul be unleashed and compleated using the combined powers of phyrexian oil and cosmos elixir and given the propel evolution of emrakul the praetors could just have emrakul evolve planes into phyrexian/eldrazi monstrosities
I absolutely loved this story, it gave me the lore of the wanderer meanwhile being a very good short story, and bringing a super intense storyline with jin gataxis and tezzeret making the first phrexian planeswalker. I’m excited for whats to come!!

It bothered me more than I thought it would. We already lost Glissa and Ezuri, two noble, heroic spirits. Almost lost Karn too. Tamiyo is a family woman and a very relatable character.

I really thought we would see the first Compleated Planeswalker in Koth, who had stayed behind on New Phyrexia, but dang. This hurts. I'm so torn between mourning Tamiyo and hoping that her "Compleated" mechanic means that wizards is going to cull the herd a bit.

As someone said to me in a reddit comment: "If their objective was to make them hate phyrexians to an audience that didn't know them before, they did it perfectly."
Seeing the wholesomest, calmest planeswalker turned into their puppet makes me want to punch Jin in the face.
They also basically "erased" her connection to her actual family. From what it sounds like, she still *remembers* who she was before being compleated, but now she only cares about helping Phyrexia. That is what's got me pissed off, they forced one of the most successful planeswalkers (as in she has made and has *kept* a family that doesn't really get put in danger) to leave her family. I'm a family man, myself. I want the Phyrexians to burn >:(
This has been one of my favorite lore videos so far in terms of editing. Love the phyrexian voice for Jin-Gitaxias. I for one welcome our new machine overlords.
I also love the way he introduced tamyos -completion- with the breaks in the cards and the zoom in on the card pieces. It's like she was broken like the card, but now she is together!

As someone mentioned, it's tragic that it is TAMIYO who is the first, and this certainly does set up Phyrexia as a multiverse-wide threat. As much as this turn of events is terrifying, I hope they let it develop for a while rather than the bizarre and hasty way they ended the Eldrazi and Nicol Bolas.
What the freaking heck, whats goin on?! Tamiyo's compleation took me by surprise. It's really sad. Will she be able to turn back to normal? I can only hope. I dare to say that I've never felt the stakes so high, not even in war of the spark. Things just got real!

Ashiok learned about Phyrexia from poking around in Elspeth's head, and Tibalt had some weird seed thing jammed in him by Vorinclex, whom I doubt removed it when requested. Those two are likely next, imo.
Alternatively, Wizards decides to go for the throat, and has Tamiyo lure Ajani into a trap and he gets compleated too. That'd fuckin' suck.

Personally, I really hope Tamiyo can at least, mentally and emotionally, be returned to her former self. I feel the reality chip is key. Afterall, it seemed it was just as important as a planeswalker to their plans. So, maybe the chip can be used to return Tamiyo to normal, maybe not her physical state, but the rest of her at least.
From what we know so far, there’s little hope for the Tamiyo we knew to return. However, Compleated individuals DO have a sense of self agency, and have even betrayed Phyrexia at times.

See, I kinda think the opposite. Tamiyo in a sense is a "key" to Emrakul. Although mind controlled, Tamiyo is the one who sealed Emrakul in the moon with a spell. So, it would be assumed she is the only one who can "release" that spell.
Now, let's say all this Phyrexian stuff builds up into another "War of the Spark" scenario where all of the multiverse Planeswalkers battle the Phyrexians in an all out war, and let's say, they are looking as though they are gonna lose. What would you do? My thought process would be, "if we can't beat them, bring in something that can." Nahiri manipulated Emrakul to Innistrad, why not to New Phyrexia? Get Emy out of Innistrad's moon and drag her to New Phyrexianto wreak havoc. Kind of like a Thor Ragnarok moment. Thor couldn't beat Hel, but Surtur could. And he was simply a natural force, not necessarily a malicious being with malicious intent as Hel had.
It's the same with Emrakul. Although also a world destroying monster, she is a natural being withing the multiverse. The Phyrexians seek to warp it to their will.
I just think that maybe they want Tamiyo under teir control to avoid what would be a catastrophe to their plan (as a giant, world warping giant Lovecraftian being would be).

@@turtlebro0017 I am Really hoping for a Mechanical Body Horror vs Cosmic Eldritch Horror showdown set in the future where it turns out that Compleating Tamiyo was a massively bad choice because of her connections to Emrakrul. You get two themed sets. One like Shadows over Innistrad where there's hints something is wrong in New Phyrexia and the second is like Eldritch Moon where old Emmie shows up and shit goes south real fucking quick for the Phyrexians, honestly they could do with an L as the last few years they've been getting win after win.
I mean, here's the thing. I feel like somehow it's all gonna tie back and Emrakul will inevitably be involved. Tamiyo was the one (although mind controlled by Emrakul) to trap the Titan in the moon. In some way I feel like that's gonna come back into play. Whether the Phyrexians want that to happen or not has yet to be seen.

Emrakrul hinted that they would be rejoicing her return or that they should be and it was odd. Then proclaimed it is not time and forced Tamiyo to read her spell. She seen something and basically said I don't want to play right now.
This story is incredibly compelling. I've been wanting a return to Kamigawa ever since the return to Ravnica was a thing.
I'm highly anticipating the future storyline. We had Vorinclex on Kaldheim stealing sap from The World Tree which could be like the kami energy. Seems like we are headed for another War of the Spark style event in a few years.

it was only a matter of time til phiraxians would figure out how to make planeswalkers, especially since they lost Karn the first time.
Honestly I think this is a good development as the steaks has been greatly risen. Nicol Bolas was a great threat to the multiverse, but so are the phiraxians. Before they were limited to one plane, then due to shinanigahns took over Mirroden, if i got that wrong my apologies I am fairly new to mtg lore.
This definently rises the tension of the multiverse and will definently challenge the gatewatch and all other planeswalkers much like the war of the spark. But now planeswalkers will literally have no where to run anymore. They don't have the option to jump to a new plane and try to start a new life...if they keep jumping from plane after plane, a normal planeswalker would get exhausted....phiraxian planeswalkers however...they might not ever tire as they have become more machine than organic matter....Literally going full 'Terminator' at this point.
I look forward to seeing what is to come.

I like how they took the wanderer, my favorite planeswalker because of how messed up her spark is and made her even better with her being an actual kamigawa emperor. And I love kamigawa.

Oh, I'm so torn on this! The fan in me is so crushed by this reveal. Tamiyo was one of my favorite Planeswalkers. Her magic associated with the power of storytelling is incredible and made for an interesting character. Her attempts to be completely neutral also raised a lot of ethical issues regarding the nature of Planeswalkers, which I think was needed for the lore. Also, she's one of the few Planeswalkers with a stable family life. It was hard to see the art for Tamiyo's Compleation without thinking about the pain both mentally and physically she is feeling in that moment. She had children for God's sake, why must you be so cruel?
But the writer in me absolutely loves this twist. It's what the lore has been needing for a while. We needed something to make us feel, to raise the stakes, and to actually get us fans talking again about this story. It's been rough getting back into the story since War of the Spark, but this is finally starting to get interesting thanks to the Kamigawa story. I look forward to another era of good storytelling if this keeps up. I'm mad they killed my precious Planeswalker, but I can't wait to see what they do with this now.

I love when Magic takes a darker turn, this next set is going to be great story wise. Phyrexians coming back means nobody is safe.
So now I'm waiting for the "Best of Both Worlds" expansion where Tamiyo is brought back and she uses her Phyrexian knowledge to take them down.
Tamiyo is a very tragical character. Previously she was controlled by one of "Great Eldrazi", now she is phyrexian puppet. Furthermore, 1st Vorniclex in Kaladheim, now Jin-Gitaxian in Kamigawa suggest that we may get Phyrexian-focus expansion in the next year. Finally, don't forget that Tezzeret is working with Dimir guildmaster and they already gained Grull and Orzhov support.
Tamiyo was just a side dish of every storyline and expansions. Now, once COMPLEATED, she can be the star! Perfect.

I’m such an optimist but im REALLY hoping that this will turn into a weird emerkul saves the day spin. She warps stuff. phyrexians warp stuff. We know shes up to something… if only we could turn the two against each other. I get it, gut punches happen for a reason… but this us why i could never kill anyone in my stories XD i was the only one in college who didn’t enjoy the occasional character murder XD

Up until this point, planeswalkers and their sparks were untouchable by the Phyrexians - to me they felt like a beacon of hope in the fight against Phyrexia. But the compleation of Tamiyo was disturbing to me in that it shows no one is safe. Nowhere is safe. She is the first, but she won't be the last. Who'll be next? (Plus what'll become of Koth, who's pretty much fighting day and night within Phyrexia itself?)
However, I really like how they wrote Kaito and the Wanderer. The animated Kamigawa trailer was beautiful. Here's hoping to see more of them!
This set could have totally had a novel and probably revive interest in the novels.

It really sucks that this wasnt a 2-3 set block, already 3 minutes in theres like 3-4 different groups that should represented in a set.
Theres just so much going on in the set, it would be so cool if we could get more ninjas and samurai and such while still having as much if not more phyrexian representative cards.
I'm curious how the relationship between the Phyrexians and Tezzeret is. Do they see him as already compleat? Is he controlling them? Will they turn on him, infecting him.. and then with his powers he would truly be a force to recken with, especially on Phyrexia.

I don’t know how it could be done. It would take some masterful skill to write it well… but something tells me the phyrexians can’t control a planeswalker as well as they think they can. I think Tamiyo was chosen for more than just her fanbase. She is a being of truth and neutrality. This goes against her nature. I see an anti-hero in the future, not an enemy. And i still think something is up with Emerkul and that scroll. But would they really try to write such a big story so soon after WOTS? Eldrazi vs phyrexia vs phyrexian planeswalkers vs everybody else? And Tezzerett and Elish Norn… boy thats a match made in heck and its either going to work, or go down in flames…
So far two planes need to be glassed... (3 technically) kaldheim and now kamigawa... Possibly even on ixalan too.... Mirrodin needs to be ended, I wonder if emrakul will meet them and fuck up the phyrexian plane

It's official. We have the possibility of Phyrexians and Eldrazi at the same time in the same time due to Tamyo. Maybe as enemies to each other. Working together? I can't see that happening.
Damn... I know I said I wanted to see phyrexia return, but not this way... We already lost Venser to them, and now Tamiyo... They keep taking my favorite Planeswalkers. I really hope we get an Elspeth story with Tamiyo where she fights to free herself.

You know, I kind of figured Tezzeret would be the first compleated Planeswalker considering he has no issues working with Phyrexians from the way it seems, he's already partially metal, has the Planar Bridge in his chest, and is a solidified antagonist of the series. Months ago I would have painted him as someone who would be the 3rd Father of Machines after Yawgmoth himself and an unwilling Karn.

This sets up a second war of the spark in a couple of years, a new gatewatch including a monored raging ajani, elspeth in white, a healed garruk led by jace vs tezzeret and his phyrexian minions tibalt and tamiyo.
