Let me know how you practice applications. Do you follow the exact pattern of the kata or do you extrapolate the moves from the kata and make them work?
The down block to a passing step lunge punch is found in old bare knuckle boxing manuals as a counter attack to lunging left straight leads to the mark.
Hello Sensei, I notice that you open and close in transition your hands sometimes...has it a pratical issue or just for relaxing your arms? Its just curiosity because I do it also and my sparring partners and mates from the dojo laugh me the whole time, it would appear to them "old fashioned way, but out of time".
It's all because of relaxation. Should always have a relaxed hand if you are not in contact with your opponent. Once you contact, then tighten hands or fists to generate power. I don't recommend tighten fist all time. It will make you slow. I think having a video on this subject would be more helpful than typing it out.
@@continuousfist oh thank you, Len 🙏🏽🙏🏽 I do it maybe I crosstrain a lot- ultimately Whooping Crane and my Sifu tells me to relax and use contraction only for a brief moment... so I subscribe your response 🙇🏽♂🙇🏽♂
