My unpopular(?) opinion is that Lavender Haze should've be a pre-album single. Imagine she released it and we got all those Easter eggs that hinted at future tracks and we got to hear the sound of the album for the first time, we would have screeeeamed. Also the whole "meet me at midnight" is such an iconic opening that I feel like would have really added more hype for the album on top of all the hype there was already

All the sounds and voice modifications in Dear Reader make sense though. She took elements from all the previous tracks on this album to wrap things up.
The autotune in the part "never take advice from someone who's falling apart" was also really cool because she literally sounds like she's shaking and falling apart.
one more unpopular opinion that i just realized about snow on the beach is that how it is perfect, taylor could have easily given lana a verse and would have said that you do one and i'll do one, but no she wanted to show people how well their voices blend together, the dreamy haunting nature of this song is so well shown with them harmonizing together, this never would have been possible if they had individual verses. hahaha little hint of goddess lana is what makes this song a subliminal that transports you to the world of love and magic and then there's taylor shining so bright like she always does.

literally like my top 3 are folklore evermore and then rep, these three positions are never going to be changed so like i switch stuff from the fourth position, and let me say midnights has gained the fourth position absolutely in love w this album and 3 am editions have made that happen.

Just found your channel and I am a huge Swiftie so I subscribed (obv haha) but I do have to say for most of Taylor's merch throughout the years, I have liked the fan made merch on Etsy or whatnot more than what is on her album shop. That may be controversial, but I just feel like some people can capture the feel of the album on merch more than what there is in the store

I think Sweet Nothing is AMAZING! It reminds me of my partner and I love it. I have a lot of anxiety and have always had a lot of pressure on me so finding a person (and song) that makes me feel like I can breathe is so beautiful.
Plus the line "To you I can admit that I'm just too soft for all of it" is how I feel. Like he is the one person I don't have to be strong for and I believe in Sweet Nothing Supremacy

My unpopular opinion is that the concept of the album is great and every single song has so much potential, but some songs were kind of ruined by the production😭
I don’t like the voice changer in Midnight Rain, I think it would’ve been such a beautiful song if it was more acoustic and if it didn’t had that voice changer. This extremely artificial sound is also what ruined reputation in my opinion. Reputation has so much potential, but it is one of my least favorite Taylor albums as the lyrics are really repetitive and the sound overall is quite artificial.
My faves on rep are Call It What You Want, Don’t Blame Me, Dancing With Our Hands Tied and New Year’s Day.
I feel like Gorgeous was kind of ruined by the voice changer though😭
I feel the same way about Midnight Rain, about Bejeweled, the beginning of Question…? and Labyrinth, they are good songs, but the voice changer and the production is ruining it.
In my opinion, some of the songs would sound so much better if they just had a piano or a guitar as background music.
But I also think that Midnights includes some of the best songs of her whole career, I still LOVE Anti-Hero and I am convinced everyone who says they don’t like it only “doesn’t like it” because it is the most popular song and they want to be different😾 I love Maroon, I love Karma, I love Mastermind and also Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve. I still think that every single Taylor album is a masterpiece, but I think that in some albums, quite a bit of potential was wasted :(
I also do not like the cover of the album, the one that is one spotify with the lighter😭 my favorite cover is the one she chose for the Jade Green Edition. The Mahagony Edition and the Moonstone Blue Edition covers are not that pretty in my opinion, they kind of look like random selfies somehow😭
Midnights for me is a 9/10, because the concept is great, every song is catchy and it included many masterpieces, but some songs unfortunately don’t live up to their potential. When I list my favorite Taylor Albums it’s:
1. Red
2. Evermore
3. 1989
4. Midnights
5. Speak Now
6. Lover
7. Folklore
8. Fearless
9. Debut
10. Reputation
So I agree with Midnights being better than Rep.
I also think that her best albums lyrics wise are:

People forget about her great songwriting in Red, I mean, haven’t they listened to All Too Well (10 Minute Version)?😭

🫣🫣🫣 That's just how I feel! The middle is so tough though! The choices I'm passionately sure about are 1-5 and then the bottom 2. 6-8 is hard cause they're all so close! Although if I could make Speak Now and Fearless tied I would as well 😂
I don't think that they are objectively better albums than Lover or Rep, it's just that Fearless and Speak Now are such special albums to me 🥰

I love the Midnights album and era so much and I love the song Midnight Rain, I just don't love the autotune in Midnight Rain and there are fanmade versions of it without the autotune and it sounds incredible!

Ok I saw there were a lot of views about hee voice modifications and I know that she uses it a lot in this album, but I LITERALLY ADORE the voice modification I love it so much and it’s sad to see that others don’t like it.
The midnights font is literally just the apple font in my opinion
i could not agree more with the midnights merch one! like you said whitney, i only like the bracelet and that one t-shirt and hoodie (i have the t-shirt) but everything else is just not it (sorry taylor). i don't like the colors they chose even though it kind of fits with the album vibe, it just isn't giving

the album covers, pictures and concept don't fit the vibe and production we got. i expected more of a sad album or maybe rock. yes she is talking about past relationships, but if you ask me the 3am tracks sound much more like what i was expecting from "things that kept me up". still love the album, but i think she could have done more with the concept of midnights, like releasing something on new year's eve, the most important midnight and so on. i hope we get more of the kind of darker songs like maroon, wcs or dear reader in the future, and i think midnights is definitely in my top 5 even if it was different then i thought

My unpopular opinion is midnights had some great songs but the production was not it. It’s currently tied with lover for 8th/9th place in my ranking.
Oh and also, it should’ve been the rock album all the moody pictures made it seem like it was going to be.

I feel Midnights was rushed and you can tell. I think she wanted it out so she can tour. I feel Jack and Taylor have gotten out all they can production wise. The swearing is lazy and felt like it was just put in without any thought. I don’t like the production with the weird voice modifications on a lot of the songs and weird added instruments. I feel this album could have been better if the production and a bit of the lyrics were better. One thing I really didn’t like was the way they released the “limited edition” covers of the albums and they weren’t
Omg we don’t talk about the “limited edition” vinyls enough. The way Taylor Nation PUSHED those out to make it seem like they’re so limited and they won’t be in stores was so weird😭

I think that midnights is definitely one of her weaker albums. It's good just compared to other albums like Lover, Reputation, or Folklore it just doesn't hit the same. Songs like wcs, yoyok, and others do better than songs like karma, lavender haze, and more of the poppy ones are only okay. This is just my opinion.

My unpopular opinion is.... I don't like anti-hero. There is better songs on midnights. My second one is that I like all the bonus tracks mire than the 13 sleepless nights. I will forever be a would've could've should've, bigger than the whole sky, and your losing me Stan don't test me
Anti-hero production is very disappointing. Listen to the acoustic version. It is so much better. Unfortunately Taylor sometimes overdoes it. Her song writing and story telling are so strong. The over production often detracts from that. 😔
