      It is hard to keep focus, when the pay off seems minimal. Get back on it! Budget every penny, track every penny spent. Maybe its not your spending, but the income that is the problem. Could you pick up something extra on the side? Being a widow and a single mom myself, I understand the struggle. My boys are grown now, but still lives at home.

    I make good money and somehow ended up $20k in credit card debt due to impulse shopping. If I wanted something I bought it. I was also somewhat of a hoarder so to speak. If 1 of something was good, 10 was better. I finally decided I didn’t want to be a slave to the credit card companies anymore. I created a budget (never had one before) and started living on the bare minimum in order to throw all my money at my debt. I’m currently on track to be paid off by October 2024. I still feel sick thinking about all the interest I paid. I know how daunting it can feel when you just don’t see the progress but just keep chipping away. You can do it!

If I were you, I would get $3000 as fast as you can in a high yield savings account for emergencies. Then I would start with the credit cards and get them paid off, but you need to cut them up so you never use them again. Then I would work on your student loans. Your situation is not impossible to get out of. You need to stop making excuses to why you’re in the situation you’re in and do something about getting out of it.

    This is an very relatable story, I got in to debt at a very young age and just recently just got out of debt. It was a long journey for sure. It took a long time for me to get around the mindset that I was broke, and had to work a lot and put a lot towards my debt. I wasn't taught my parents finance, but I learned some things in my journey that helped. I keep a journal and read as much as I could budget books for free. You can do it it just takes lots of discipline and I had to stop school so I could pay back what I had. After you get out , your mindset changes and I am never going into debt. Everyone got my money and I was so upset, I could have done so much with what I have had and made, but lesson learned. I am 40 myself and finally learned my lesson. But I hope all works out for you and your journey. Good luck 👍 Dave Ramsey is a good financial guy to listen to.

    The way we talk to ourselves matters. When we continue to express regrets for decisions we made, it keeps us stuck in cement. No one can move forward by standing in the past.
    Many of us have a debt story. We know what it takes to get rid of debt and so do you.
    If you're filming in your apartment, you aren't broke. Your apartment looks specious and well furnished and you're warm and comfortable. However, no matter how comfortable your apartment, debt is stressful.
    You have debt because you chose to take it on. It no longer matters what you didn't know, or weren't told; your life is "here" now and your future is in front of you. You can retire your debt as quickly as possible, if you choose. You're the boss - how many changes and which you are willing to make to retire your debt is up to you.
    There are hundreds of videos by people in debt on YT. Some are more serious than others. They tell their story, walk through their monthly budgets and talk about their debt. One I like is "mistakes were made". You might like the budget sheets she uses and how diligent and determined they are.
    You CAN do it!

      Excellent statement. I totally agree. I feel like there’s some victim mentality going on with her. She’s fortunate as compared to many folks. She needs to realize that. Once that triggers, she’ll do whatever it takes to get that debt retired sooner than later. A few years of sacrifice are in order. She was willing to drag out those multiple college degrees and take on that debt, she should have the same gumption to find a part-time gig to speed up these payments. At least she’s in her early 40s, and not 60s or 70s or 80s like many struggling. She has many options, but I think more excuses.

If you borrow money you have to pay it back. There are no freebies in life. It is not fair to expect tax payers to pay off your loan. The last 2 years for me have absolutely sucked financially. At the end of 2021 I had a pretty decent amount in checking & savings, well in 2022 I took a job offer in another state that turned out to be fraudulent costing me to lose thousands & thousands of dollars from moving expenses & car repairs that came about because of the move, I still have yet to recover from it. I tried to sue the company involved with no luck, I was lucky on one hand because I was able to go back to my old job, what sucks about that though is that my old job is in Southern California where the cost of living is pretty much you need to make at least $250k annually to live comfortably. America is a place right now that just seems to be forcing everyone into deep debt like your being thrown into the deep part of the pacific ocean with no life jacket...

The deal was no interest for the first 24 months. If I didn't pay off the $2k in 24 months the lump sum interest would be $700. I think it's a good deal as long as you pay it off on time. My education got me to where I am today with a job that pays me well over 6-figures (combined $200k), but I am in debt and currently paying that off. I am single and don't have any credit card debts, other than my car payments and student loans. You are probably thinking if I make $200K per annum, why I am living in my SUV? Well, as a travel nurse, I bounce from place to place, so having a permanent residence wouldn't make sense in my case. My student loan is like the sword of Damocles hanging over my head, and if I don't keep up with my payments, my credit may be at risk. I didn't qualify for the student loan forgiveness, but then again, I don't care --- I only have $50k remaining and I make $5k payments a month. I have a bachelor's and master's degrees from Boston Univ and MCPHS. I work as a travel nurse and have busted my butt to get where I am today, and all you can do is make a video and complain about drowning in debt! Colleges/Universities like University of Phoenix is a school for profit, and not sure if those types of "online" school can really help a student get far, in terms of a career path. First rule of holes: if you are in one, stop digging. Secondly, get to work! Get 3 jobs if you have to. I currently work 2 jobs as a nurse and I pick up as much OT as I can. Sorry for sounding mean, but our country is so broken and if Tangerine gets back into the white house, it will be a disaster. I hope you figure things out on your end! Good luck!

    Nothing to be ashamed of, it happens to lots of people, it's like with AA, the major step is admitting that you have a problem.
    So just from watching your video, I have some suggestions: turn off the lamp in the background. That is is costing you electricity. In fact, why don't you sell the lamp? Do you need it? Same for the lava lamp, and the candlesticks. Make ebay into a hobby (selling, not buying). Sell anything you can that you don't need (and that means, really, really need - your doggy needs food, shelter and veterinary care, she doesn't need fancy toys or anything like that, she'll be just as happy with love and play from you, and those things are free). Good luck.

      @TheRachelShow  Месяц назад

      @@EricB07 sure happy to fill you in. Every American is different and also it’s so dependent on your life and how much you earn and how much debt you have. So many different factors play into this. Some Americans use credit cards to earn the reward points to use them on physical items or travel for vacation. Some American must use their cards for daily necessities like gas and food due to the high cost of living and wages in certain industries not keeping up with that or because someone is living above their means or has a ton of debt or might be a single parent. And some Americans don’t understand how predatory credit cards are and use it to buy dumb things like clothing shopping sprees and don’t realize how much interest racks up. There are plenty more examples but there are so many variations of factors that play into this so there isn’t one straight answer I can give you and I’ll spare you a novel. Hopefully that helps
