Link to order the new 2 button pen, tablet-pro.myshopify.com
I couldn't find anyone shipping these internationally so I just ordered a bunch of these from the manufacturer. Great stylus and didn't make sense to be getting the crumbs from Amazons table for my family.
Can ship internationally, just keep in mind shipping is high to most international destinations (I don't make money on shipping just the pen)

Thanks! I do not run intense games, but can otherwise say that I seem to have dodged the problems that you have observed. Your review is a great example of why I read reviews even *after* the purchase. The Surface Pro 7 is, by far, the best ultralight for me, LOVE the pen note-taking in its various forms - and kind of relieved that you have not found anything that is going to be an issue.

Thank you for this review, it has been very useful. I've been looking at buying a Surface Pro 7 i5 128 gb but no matter what store I go to each and every unit has been heating up. Not even through heavy gaming but just sitting idle playing an advertisement or even playing a 60fps video on youtube for 2 minutes.
I finally struck a deal with one store manager that said he would refund me the money if the device I bought was heating up after leaving the device on in the store for 4 hours. I'm looking forward to getting an excellent device and this review helped a lot to teach me what to look for when buying one. Thank you 😊

This device has been nothing but a nightmare for me. First one glitched like crazy. The device didn't respond/froze a hundred times. Sometimes for just a few seconds (where I wasn't able to move the mouse or use the keyboard), sometimes for minutes. Sent it back to Microsoft to replace. Got a new one, same problem and wouldn't even start at times. Now they've sent me a new one again. But that device won't even turn on out of the box.
I do agree that the service is really, really good. But to be honest, what good is that, if the one thing that needs to be perfect is never working. Seems like a hardware design flaw.

For the overheating issue, I think room temperature really matters for surface pro 7 because when I use my pro 7 just to do zoom call at my parent house (31+ degrees celsius) its overheat really fast. But, when I use my pro 7 in my flat with average 26 degrees celsius its run better and only overheat when I do heavy gaming or video editing.

I bought mine last November. I have i7 16 Gb version.
After a couple of weeks I realized that the device is heating up specially when its charging. So I sent it back and became a new one. The new one was much better in terms of overheating but after 2 weeks after a huge Microsoft update the device restarted and froze on Windows logo. I tried everything to bring it back to life and I realized the SSD is dead! So sent it back again and became a new one. The new one right out of the box had a fan problem. Whenever the fans are working and I move the device they make an odd noise like when you use a hair clipper. It seems the fans are touching something and that is why I hear the noise. I returned it twice and had the same issue. Didn't get any Surface since then until the Surface Pro 4, the one that I got has cloudy screen on the lower part of the display. They appeared after a while, and I missed the moment to exchange it. The white spot is not a dead pixel. It is backlight bleed. I have had this with 3 out of 3 Surface Pro 2017s. (The last one is on its way back to Microsoft as we speak.) The worst part of it is: none of them had it initially, it occurred after a while. And then it gets worse.
The last time for some reason I ended up at the business support. They should have been able to provide Advanced Exchange....they couldn't. And even worse, they didn't believe me. As they were unable to see the white spots and dead pixel (I did also have an actual dead pixel) they closed the case.
If anyone can explain to me what causes these white spots and can tell me what I should do to prevent it, I am happy to hear it!

Thanks for that great video! It shows to me, that all the reviews you find online are more or less only advertisment and barely touch the surface no matter if it says "in depth review". What bugs me the most though, is the question why microsoft doesnt try this before launch since returns are extremely expensive for a company. Especially the pen pressure curve issues are inacceptable as a so called creative professional. The graphiccards / overheating issues might be connected to the outdated driver the SP7 still uses?
I will recieve mine next week and will test all that. But it is a real bummer. As a creative you want to pick up the device and draw or model and not worry about drivers and how to fix or workaround all the problems it has. If the pen has the same problems on my device it is unuseable for me. And I am once again in the spot thinking about just getting an ipad pro + macbook (using sidecar then) instead of this.
You are the Tablet Pro, I wondered, since they praise the display in all the reviews. When i look at the display of a surface pro compared to lets say a mac, on the surface it almost looks like you can see kind of a very thin metal netting like it is some kind of coil net for the pen to work in the screen. Is that correct? And also, could you try to explain what the difference in pen technology between an ipad and a SP is and why microsoft sticks to using their rather clunky and jittery one? Many thanks!

      @sav7775 4 года назад

"can see kind of a very thin metal netting like it is some kind of coil net for the pen to work"
You outline electromagnetic pen technology (see Wacom EMR). It's kinda outdated and not used commonly in mobile products nowadays. BTW typically sensitive EM net placed underneath the display. In the end all popular mobile products have some version of electrostatic/active capacitive pen (Microsoft N-trig, Wacom AES, probably iPen or whatever Apple call their technology, etc).

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  4 года назад +2

Some of the problems come from certain technology being copyright protected. Like how Wacom pen tech works or Apple pen tech. The have to find and create a different approach and they often have trade offs. It seems the solution Microsoft purchased and has been developing is lacking in a few areas that were less important then the thickness of the screen. I believe that Ntrigs initial claim to fame was it was a single layer (or thinner) digitizer/multi touch solution. But basically the point is Microsoft legally can’t use the other ways that work better even if they know how they work because of legal reasons.

@@sav7775 Thank you for providing the two articles! I read them and if I understood corrwctly, microsoft now uses a type of electromagnetic technology where there are transparent strips in front if the display? Instead of the old emr with the grid underneath the screen? I can clearly see some kind of grid wich is not a pixel grid in the display when looking closely and it is visable also on the new SP7.
The articles didn't say anything about what technology apple uses unfortunately, so maybe you know wich ine it is? .. passive capacitor? So no hover wiuld be possible? As a matter if fact though i find the pencils accuracy phenomenal and way superior to the SP and often even better than wacoms especially in terms of a natural feel. Alao, personally I never really got why you need a pen and a cursor. Technically if you wanted see directly how the brush size changed on an ipad, you could do that in a fashion where you would hold a key and then tap and drag to change the brush size. I guess that would only be a software thung.
As far as I know, logitech makes a stylus for the ipad pro. Maybe it is just me, but i wish I could use the pencil and apples digitizer technology on a surface. Ntrig is a joke to me unfortunately.

In terms of "natural feel" a lot of artists complained about "plastic feel" of iPencil. Though Apple made some improvements in second version.
"i find the pencils accuracy phenomenal and way superior to the SP"
You probably address "wobbly lines" problem with Surface Pen. And IMHO it's the other way around. I mean that SP is more sensitive and precise. Yes, a lot of artists complain about wobbly lines when one try to draw a straight line really slow. But the source of this effect is probably a hand tremor. Even healthy people have natural tremor. One can try to draw some lines using a ruler with SP and see that lines became much "cleaner". These wobbles kinda inevitable when one use a pen with plastic or soft plastic tip on a glass screen. Because they don't provide enough friction as a real pen/pencil and paper. I think lowering sensitivity with software or using bigger tip could be a solution. Hard to say how Apple addressed this.

Like the video will go black and start moving across the screen, make my screen glitch out, and it's almost 100% of the time. My zoom also starts flickering and flashing - it's getting really annoying.

I think I have a misaligned top bezel on my SPX -- at the very least, there is space for crust particles to fall into unlike the other three sides, and it has really built up. I actually do believe I can see some silver components when looking down on it at a certain angle. The pen cursor also appears to err towards being slightly offset at the top, particularly near the camera area, although it's harder to get worked up over it since I never paint up there in practice.
However the biggest killjoy for me is I just realized I have the staircasing. Do you think between the top bezel and that, I should try to get it exchanged? Any idea if the staircasing could be hardware related? I guess if I don't get any replies soon I'll have to make plans to take a trip to the MS store and at the very least get them to use my pen on other SPX units.

It could be fine for hours, or even a day, but could also have this happen 10 times in an hour. It is extremely random. Other devices connected to the wifi all remain connected. Hi. My surface pro 7 i5 seems to keep freezing when I use the mouse and/or keyboard (5 days into use). I have read on their site, many people seem to have this problem. My pro4 lasted 5 years with no issues. Is this a common problem and recommendation on exchange/refund?
    Many thanks 🙏

Common problem. Had the same. I'm sending my third device back again. Microsoft Service is excellent though, this device just isn't in my experience.

i just purchased my surface pro 7 i5 and i was running photoshop and adobe animate with it and it just froze up on me. Also I've had my instances where it would over heat and just be slow to respond. Should I return it or get an exchange?

Thanks for another great video! I NEED ADVICE PLS! Just got a Pro 7 Core i5 over Black Friday, but I found that it gets heated up so easily, which is as bad as my older Pro 5 right now (sometimes even worse!!). My Pro 7 feels warm right after I power it on, despite that only like 10ish% of my CPU is being used and I am only running one ordinary load app. Is that normal? Do you know others experiencing this problem? And should I go to the MS store to check it up???

My first i5 Surface Pro 7 I return for hear issues. If it’s hot AND it slows down noticeably you need to return it. If it’s so hot that it hurts or bothers you you should probably exchange or return it. My second one was much better.

Tablet Pro Thank you for the reply! Its not hot in problematic means, but quite unusual as it’s even more heated than an two years old device. I probably will keep an eye on it, and ask for exchange if the problem is obvious!

i5, 8gb, 128 model. I have a 256gb micro SD card installed alongside Adobe Cloud, Microsoft OneDrive, and Google Drive. My storage needs are completely met and everything syncs perfectly with all my devices ( laptop, tablet, pc, etc.). Rarely anything is saved locally, mostly 95% in the cloud.
Its my first Surface Pro and being a pc guy who's into graphic design it totally meets my needs. For me the batery last hours and charges pretty quick. There's an occasional hiccup here and there but knowing my preference for anything mobile being limited to an i5 for battery sake, I don't expect to run cpu or gpu intensive apps at max settings.
I couldn't afford the extended warranty when I first got it so I'm actually about to give Microsoft Complete a call and get some peace of mind!
I like this channel, it's always good to have honest reviews. 🤙🏽

Also guys, I got my Pro 7, and some honest advice - if you are happy with your Pro 5, DON’T bother to upgrade! Pro 7’s performance is not much better compare to my old Pro 5: it processes Premiere Pro at the same speed, heats up just as much, and has the same battery life (sometimes even worse)!

Why are you trolling people? The SP 7 i5 is much faster than the SP 6 i7, so it destroys the SP 5. Also, unlike the SP 7, in another 2-3 years the SP 5 will be as slow as molasses...

Thanks man, I also do have a problem with my Microsoft surface Pro 7. It worked perfectly the past months I used it always in a case and cared a lot that nothing scratches it or is damaging it. However, suddenly a spot appeared which can only be see when there is something dark on the screen the spot lights bright and greenish about the size of a fingerprint and doesn't go away anymore. I never put pressure on the screen or anything similar I also never dropped it, therefore I don't understand were it comes from suddenly. Do you know what it could be or if I am still allowed to send it back. It's already the my second device. My first Microsoft surface Pro 7 wasn't turning on anymore after 1 moth of having the computer. But now the product In got back from Microsoft has this new issue. Can you help me!?
