Okay, so I believe that David and Selena who ARE the executive producers and have gotten together pretty often through the years, to cook up a sequel series, did want it to be age appropriated. But since they know Disney has still own the rights (like the Ned Declassified cast tried to with the original creator, to cook up an aged-up sequel series, but Nickelodeon didn't want to sell the rights of the property) I think they knew that Disney would never sell of one of their most succesful IP's, but... Also never be interested in a age-appropriate sequel series. David saw what happened with the Lizzie McGuire sequel and that also fell through because Disney didn't want it to be for adults or fans of the original show. So what David did with the help of Selena is create a sequel story which does make it able for original cast to reprise their roles: Alex, Max, Jerry (hint: episode 7), Theresa and even Harper while also make it a new introduction for the kids of Disney Channel today. Like they said "a love letter". I think the iCarly sequel series was possible since Nickelodeon didn't wanted to have anything to do with smelly feet guy (you know the bakery). So yeah, my theory about it and why it's been in the works for many, many years. Max is a billionaire by the way who made a franchise of the subway sub shop. Oh and Mrs. Mendler is of confronting space, so of course they would seperate Juliette and Justin. Here's to hoping Mason is still with Alex.

My only issue with the show is something that almost all spinoffs or sequel series do, which is introduce a boat load of lore or established information that doesn't always make sense from what we already know.
For the lore on using spells and wands, its a little inconsistant but in the main series, TJ describes spells as "training wheels. when you get good [at magic], you don't need em'." And there's a few eps where they're like 'i lost my wand what will i do' (the test prison when Alex pulled out the mini wand). But they can also just use their hands to cast magic; and with the improv spells (make'em'ups), all they need is to say it out loud eg. "Although I enjoy tasty snacks, I'd rather have my brother Max" And no, the improv doesnt need to be a true statement💀just needs to rhyme
lowkey they should've given us a movie with all the original cast and maybe introduce the new/younger characters in that a bit leading to a possible tv series

The actor who played Professor Crumbs passed away, the knowledge guy wasn't meant to be him, they were just doing the old wise man thing again One thing I will say is that it's not explained how Justin kept his powers despite being fired from WizTech due to some unicorn incident since as we know, his Dad gave up his powers since wizards can't marry non-wizards. Justin has been influenced to do bad stuff before usually by Alex. They were usually inconsistent with the spells since in Season 1 I feel it was more common when they just some hand magic. TJ the wizard who charmed his Parents did all of his magic this way, we also saw Alex magically turning her hand into her foot with no wand or spell. The truth spells were always hand magic. It's funny that you mentioned Selena Gomez AND Alex Russo being 2 different characters since technically she should have 2 other doppelgangers since she was Hannah's rival on Hannah Montana and she played a character on the original Suite Life series.
Unfortunately he couldnt marry harper unless they recast her. The actress doesnt act anymore, she became a nurse. I could see her potentially making a Cameo, but she would never leave the job she loves to be a main character. Also not only is Juliette no longer an actor, but the founder of a space company. But im pretty sure Juliette would still be considered a teen, She was over 2000 years old when we met her, i dont think an additional 15ish years would have made a difference
Jennifer Stone does still act, she said it multiple times on the Wizards podcast, and she wants to be in the reboot. They could’ve casted her. Only problem is I don’t think she’d wanna work with David Henrie alone

I finished the show. Apart from a cameo that was a lil heartwarming, i found this show very.....lacking... its very modern Disney "ooh bright colors look kids pretty!" and its very clear that this is just a project that David wanted to do

David DeLuise does actually appear in a future episode he works for a wizard helpline to help young wizards with spells and is like inside of some magic portal world that Billy visits and then he has a quick reunion with the kids and with Justin and then just disappears again so it was a bit underwhelming.

Yes in both the movie and the original show they could both use one magic so magic without a wand, as well as verbal and non-verbal spells, some spells required no words but yes the majority of them did, it was more of like a powerful thing for like if you were more powerful then you could use non-verbal But Professor crumbs would use a lot of non-verbal and so did Justin I think, but a lot of the non-terrible stuff was movie specific and a lot of the one magic was mostly shown in the movie but they did show it in the show sometimes, this show seems to imply that you can't use magic without a wand which isn't true because you can so yeah it is a little bit all over the place it seems with a lot of stuff like I said it's not fully consistent, the original show was a bit Willy washy but this seems extra Willy washing where it's not even sticking with the main law so it's sort of hard tofully connect to it.
I 100% agree with like everything you said. This series wasn’t entirely what I was expecting, and I wish more of the OG cast came back as well. It was amazing that Selena came back for the first episode tho. :) This series does have its less exciting moments, but all their acting is still rlly good too, I think it’s really cute that they made this reboot 😊

This is something that I have said in other people's breakdowns of this new show, but I agree completely I think he totally should've ended up with Juliet I understand why they couldn't cast Bridgit Mendler probably because she's busy doing her own stuff and in case they ever do a good luck Charlie reboot they probably want her around I don't know what the reason is but I can understand that despite us wanting them to be together, but at least make it makes sense because in the Wizard world The rule was that if you end up with a mortal and you're a wizard then you have to have your magic taken away but Justin still has his magic, his kids aren't wizards which is unfortunate because it would make way more sense if they were and then we know from the original show that Justin was obsessed with Wizard world girls so even if it wasn't Juliet like he dated an angel he dated a werewolf so could he not be with another person from the wizard world or like you said be with Harper because we know from that future episode of Waverley Place that she said her and Justin were together so they did a lie to it in the original show so it would've been really easy to put him with Harper and she already knows that their wizards so it would've made way more sense and then again I think the kids should've been wizards or even if they don't know their wizards yet like have them eventually find out, I just feel like there were a lot of mistakes made with the show where a lot of things don't fit with the original cannon of the show either but I've said this multiple times and I know other people have as well there's a lot of things that don't fit with the original show in terms of how old the characters behave and of course with this new cast it's just missed opportunities show to exist they wanted it to exist for years and came up with the idea of just having two kids and this whole storyline unfortunately, but having them work on the original show you think they know all of the Canon staff and no we would want to see their kids with powers or know that he has to end up with either Juliet or Harper or someone to keep it Canon with the original show and the Laura established in the original show as well as other things like Justin Having his powers because he was in charge of Wiz Tech that's the whole reason he got his powers in the first place because he took crumbs position so he was able to keep his magic so it doesn't make any sense now for him to drop out or be fired from Wiz Tech it's just like a whole downhill spiral for him it's ridiculous just to make him train this Girl from the Wizard in world and have the difference between wizards and non-wizards I don't know I just feel like there were so many better ways to handle the show that could've been more accurate and they could've made it a little bit more mature like make it more like the original wizard Waley place where it's still for children but it's got like more adult humour and it's funny and silly but you know things make sense the spells are really well thought out and you know the dialogue actually sounds like something real people would say rather than what we got With this new show, it just feels so disconnected from the original one both in the law and the script writing, the sets don't even really feel like real homes which is also kind of annoying they made the original one feel really lived in by having all these like weird cookie things inside their home and like you know different odd pillows and different things like that which made it feel more lived in where is this does very much feel like a set unfortunately, on top of everything else wrong with the show like I said with the overacting and the bad Scripps and the non-Canon stuff, there's a lot of things that don't really make sense, especially with Billy being this all powerful wizard they made references to Harry Potter and the original show but this one feels like she is Harry Potter and you know to save the world from some great evil like you know all these evil people are after her kind of like with the whole Voldemort and Harry Potter thing it's just basically that which is kind of unfortunate I mean it's a cool idea I mean we had that with Felix he was like an all powerful person with this all powerful wand so you know he was like someone wielding the elder wand you know he was like this all powerful magical person like it was only him it was his destiny he pulled it out of the orb kinda like the sword in the stone, so they had a lot of references to King Arthur and to Harry Potter and the original show with again the magical wand and the wand in the Orban all of that stuff and so it does make sense for them to have the stuff with Billy now except again I think the kids should've been magical or should've had some connection to the original show, like I said they seem to have not really understood the original show and I don't know if the writers of this show or the director of the show etc had actually watched the original show, I know that with the wizards movie it had a different director from the original shows there were a lot of differences between that and the original show except for the stuff between Teresa and Jerry which I like that at least they kept that in the movie so it felt cohesive even though it was a bit detached from the original show they knew what made the original show work and made it really well for the movie whereas with this that stuff with Teresa and Jerry feels really undermined now because with this new storyline Justin should've had his powers taken away but he didn't so that kind of undermines all that if that their father went through to be with their mother and how he had to give his powers to Calbo, I don't know it's all just a little bitall over the place in a little bit disappointing.
Pretty sure it's confirmed that Justin gained the magic from the wizard dude & because he isn't the family wizard, he doesn't have to give up his magic to be with a mortal, whereas Alex on the otherhand would have to give her magic up if she ever wanted to be with a mortal since she's the family wizard
@@Neo-Queenserenityt2l You make some good points but I think you're wrong and here is why, you're right in that he's not the family wizard Alex is, he was given his powers by Professor crumbs, but it was a stipulation on running whiz Tech, crumbs did not give Justin Powers what he did was he Gave Justin his powers as a way of allowing Justin to keep his magic on the stipulation that he would become the new headmaster of Wiz Tech the new professor he would take crumbs place so he was like the new crumbs the youngest professor of Wiz Tech and so after that crumbs didn't have his magic anymore cause he gave his to Justin, meaning that if Justin were to marry a human he will most likely would have to give up his magic like Alex Wood, again with Jerrys siblings like Calbo we don't know if they had kids if those kids would have magic powers or not or the rules on that so to be fair for all we know Justin's kids could still have magic powers I don't think that that's connected to just the family Wizard either, it's just that aunt Megan and Uncle Calbo never had any kids so we don't know what happened to their kids if they were to have any. Also when it comes to Justin, it's not so much about the fact that he married a mortal that would make him give up his powers it's more the fact that he dropped off Wiz Tech because he was fired from Wiz Tech that would be what would remove his powers cause again he was given the job to be the professor and that's why he was given magic so if he's no longer the professor then he wouldn't have his magic, because that was crumbs stipulation so it wouldn't be him marrying Gianna that would have him lose his powers it would be him being fired from Wiz that would make him lose his powers, yet he still has his powers and he doesn't work at Wiz Tech so that's the part that is really the bigger issue and Saint Makes sense, also it's just very out of character for Justin to not be the whiz tech professor because I think crumbs would be very disappointed in him, as he gave just in that chance because he knew how smart Justin was and how talented he was and it's just something that a lot of shows do, where they as said in this video even, like a lot of shows to end up making their characters go through horrible trials and tribulations and basically have them be worse off than they were at the beginning as like a drama thing but it's not the best decision and I agree completely that they should've made a more adult show I still stand by the whole like made for kids PG or G rated show I just think thatunlike the original show like I would've been fine if it was like the original wizards of Waverly Place just as long as there was still a lot of focus on the original cast and it had those adult things or maybe make it PG therefore you can have some more adult type stuff but it'll be a nice mix of both the original cast and the new generation, making it more of a family show like the original wizard show I think would've been the bitter solution, but then bumping it up to PG so that for us older people who saw the original show we've got that kind of maturity but it's also for kids at the same time, having that better balance I think would've been a better decision and a better solution to this new show I think personally.

maybe when the show is taking place was a huge oversight on the writer's part, because how old is the eldest kid? in Alex vs Alex, Justin wasn't in it because he was working at Wiztech then, and the incident that got him fired should've been within weeks or months after the fact; and meeting/marrying Giada and giving birth to Roman, at least a year after that. So the show's events, canonically, should be 10 years after the og show ended.

So what they are doing with this sequel series is actually within the same vein as Raven's Home, which is having a new generation while having a bunch of guest stars from the OG series throughout the span of the show. Believe it or not, this sequel series is actually made by the same people who've done Raven's Home... and also, these same people are apparently making another spin-off for the "That's So Raven" franchise going off of Raven's Home.
I already imagined that the sense of humor would be similar to Ravenshome's. They should have brought back the old writers, but the series isn't bad. It's good by modern Disney standards. Some things bothered me, but the series is good. I just hope they don't take 5 seasons to make a sequel worthy of Wizards like what happened with Ravenshome, which in my opinion only the fifth and sixth seasons are worth watching. When they returned to San Francisco, I hope that if there is a second season, the writers of the original series return to give a sense of naturalness to the stories. Billie Milo and Winter have potential, but they still seem a little stiff in their acting or forced. Sometimes it seems like they're reading a script when acting. I hope they improve.
I wish we would have gotten the OG cast as the main characters, but it was probably never going to happen. It would have ended up cancelled like the Lizzie McGuire reboot we were supposed to get because Disney doesn't want to lean into adult content. That being said, I don't hate this series. Harper (Stone) is not part of the cast due to the limited role of Alex (Gomez) whom Harper was primarily associated with in the OG. There's no hint on her appearance in the future, but there's still time to add her in later or make a guest appearance. Stone has expressed interest in reprising her role.

Some of your observations have lore basis. Like... Remember how their dad had to stop being a wizard in order to marry their mom? Justin can't have magic. This would also explain why he can't be with a vampire, as that also had legal implications at some point in the show, which is why both of them wanted to keep their powers. Also since none of their parents was the heir, and they were still wizards... Justin's kids are DEFINITELY wizards as well... Keeping the secret makes absolutely zero sense. Also canonically Justin can't be with Harper cuz we meet her future self in the show and she's still obsessed with him (and confirms Alex and Mason are gonna be an ongoing thing in the future, before Mason is even introduced). Personally already annoyed the show doesn't know its own lore.

Try looking at it as if your watching it with your kids. We are all adults or young adults at this point if you were into the original show as a kid. Yes in both the movie and the original show they could both use one magic so magic without a wand, as well as verbal and non-verbal spells, some spells required no words but yes the majority of them did, it was more of like a powerful thing for like if you were more powerful then you could use non-verbal But Professor crumbs would use a lot of non-verbal and so did Justin I think, but a lot of the non-terrible stuff was movie specific and a lot of the one magic was mostly shown in the movie but they did show it in the show sometimes, this show seems to imply that you can't use magic without a wand which isn't true because you can so yeah it is a little bit all over the place it seems with a lot of stuff like I said it's not fully consistent, the original show was a bit Willy washy but this seems extra Willy washing where it's not even sticking with the main law so it's sort of hard tofully connect to it.

I 100% agree with like everything you said. This series wasn’t entirely what I was expecting, and I wish more of the OG cast came back as well. It was amazing that Selena came back for the first episode tho. :) This series does have its less exciting moments, but all their acting is still rlly good too, I think it’s really cute that they made this reboot 😊

This is something that I have said in other people's breakdowns of this new show, but I agree completely I think he totally should've ended up with Juliet I understand why they couldn't cast Bridgit Mendler probably because she's busy doing her own stuff and in case they ever do a good luck Charlie reboot they probably want her around I don't know what the reason is but I can understand that despite us wanting them to be together, but at least make it makes sense because in the Wizard world The rule was that if you end up with a mortal and you're a wizard then you have to have your magic taken away but Justin still has his magic, his kids aren't wizards which is unfortunate because it would make way more sense if they were and then we know from the original show that Justin was obsessed with Wizard world girls so even if it wasn't Juliet like he dated an angel he dated a werewolf so could he not be with another person from the wizard world or like you said be with Harper because we know from that future episode of Waverley Place that she said her and Justin were together so they did a lie to it in the original show so it would've been really easy to put him with Harper and she already knows that their wizards so it would've made way more sense and then again I think the kids should've been wizards or even if they don't know their wizards yet like have them eventually find out, I just feel like there were a lot of mistakes made with the show where a lot of things don't fit with the original cannon of the show either but I've said this multiple times and I know other people have as well there's a lot of things that don't fit with the original show in terms of how old the characters behave and of course with this new cast it's just missed opportunities I don't know who was in charge of this show but I feel like whoever it was they didn't take it as seriously as they could've, I heard that it was David Henry and Selena Gomez who were pushing for the show to exist they wanted it to exist for years and came up with the idea of just having two kids and this whole storyline unfortunately, but having them work on the original show you think they know all of the Canon staff and no we would want to see their kids with powers or know that he has to end up with either Juliet or Harper or someone to keep it Canon with the original show and the Laura established in the original show as well as other things like Justin Having his powers because he was in charge of Wiz Tech that's the whole reason he got his powers in the first place because he took crumbs position so he was able to keep his magic so it doesn't make any sense now for him to drop out or be fired from Wiz Tech it's just like a whole downhill spiral for him it's ridiculous just to make him train this Girl from the Wizard in world and have the difference between wizards and non-wizards I don't know I just feel like there were so many better ways to handle the show that could've been more accurate and they could've made it a little bit more mature like make it more like the original wizard Waley place where it's still for children but it's got like more adult humour and it's funny and silly but you know things make sense the spells are really well thought out and you know the dialogue actually sounds like something real people would say rather than what we got With this new show, it just feels so disconnected from the original one both in the law and the script writing, the sets don't even really feel like real homes which is also kind of annoying they made the original one feel really lived in by having all these like weird cookie things inside their home and like you know different odd pillows and different things like that which made it feel more lived in where is this does very much feel like a set unfortunately, on top of everything else wrong with the show like I said with the overacting and the bad Scripps and the non-Canon stuff, there's a lot of things that don't really make sense, especially with Billy being this all powerful wizard they made references to Harry Potter and the original show but this one feels like she is Harry Potter and you know to save the world from some great evil like you know all these evil people are after her kind of like with the whole Voldemort and Harry Potter thing it's just basically that which is kind of unfortunate I mean it's a cool idea I mean we had that with Felix he was like an all powerful person with this all powerful wand so you know he was like someone wielding the elder wand you know he was like this all powerful magical person like it was only him it was his destiny he pulled it out of the orb kinda like the sword in the stone, so they had a lot of references to King Arthur and to Harry Potter and the original show with again the magical wand and the wand in the Orban all of that stuff and so it does make sense for them to have the stuff with Billy now except again I think the kids should've been magical or should've had some connection to the original show, like I said they seem to have not really understood the original show and I don't know if the writers of this show or the director of the show etc had actually watched the original show, I know that with the wizards movie it had a different director from the original shows there were a lot of differences between that and the original show except for the stuff between Teresa and Jerry which I like that at least they kept that in the movie so it felt cohesive even though it was a bit detached from the original show they knew what made the original show work and made it really well for the movie whereas with this that stuff with Teresa and Jerry feels really undermined now because with this new storyline Justin should've had his powers taken away but he didn't so that kind of undermines all that if that their father went through to be with their mother and how he had to give his powers to Calbo, I don't know it's all just a little bitall over the place in a little bit disappointing.

@@Neo-Queenserenityt2l You make some good points but I think you're wrong and here is why, you're right in that he's not the family wizard Alex is, he was given his powers by Professor crumbs, but it was a stipulation on running whiz Tech, crumbs did not give Justin Powers what he did was he Gave Justin his powers as a way of allowing Justin to keep his magic on the stipulation that he would become the new headmaster of Wiz Tech the new professor he would take crumbs place so he was like the new crumbs the youngest professor of Wiz Tech and so after that crumbs didn't have his magic anymore cause he gave his to Justin, meaning that if Justin were to marry a human he will most likely would have to give up his magic like Alex Wood, again with Jerrys siblings like Calbo we don't know if they had kids if those kids would have magic powers or not or the rules on that so to be fair for all we know Justin's kids could still have magic powers I don't think that that's connected to just the family Wizard either, it's just that aunt Megan and Uncle Calbo never had any kids so we don't know what happened to their kids if they were to have any. Also when it comes to Justin, it's not so much about the fact that he married a mortal that would make him give up his powers it's more the fact that he dropped off Wiz Tech because he was fired from Wiz Tech that would be what would remove his powers cause again he was given the job to be the professor and that's why he was given magic so if he's no longer the professor then he wouldn't have his magic, because that was crumbs stipulation so it wouldn't be him marrying Gianna that would have him lose his powers it would be him being fired from Wiz that would make him lose his powers, yet he still has his powers and he doesn't work at Wiz Tech so that's the part that is really the bigger issue and Saint Makes sense, also it's just very out of character for Justin to not be the whiz tech professor because I think crumbs would be very disappointed in him, as he gave just in that chance because he knew how smart Justin was and how talented he was and it's just something that a lot of shows do, where they as said in this video even, like a lot of shows to end up making their characters go through horrible trials and tribulations and basically have them be worse off than they were at the beginning as like a drama thing but it's not the best decision and I agree completely that they should've made a more adult show I still stand by the whole like made for kids PG or G rated show I just think thatunlike the original show like I would've been fine if it was like the original wizards of Waverly Place just as long as there was still a lot of focus on the original cast and it had those adult things or maybe make it PG therefore you can have some more adult type stuff but it'll be a nice mix of both the original cast and the new generation, making it more of a family show like the original wizard show I think would've been the bitter solution, but then bumping it up to PG so that for us older people who saw the original show we've got that kind of maturity but it's also for kids at the same time, having that better balance I think would've been a better decision and a better solution to this new show I think personally.

i'll never understand why they make all these reboots for younger audiences... my only issue-- and they made the main characters even younger than Selena and everyone was in the original?? i don't get it like kids nowadays barely even watch tv they all watch youtube/tiktok so why not make it more toward teens / adults who actually grew up watching wizards
Because the audience that grew up with it, have grown up & now they want to bring new fans to the series, they're kids shows, you can't expect them to cater to an adult audience that has their own lives, jobs etc

Marrying Juliette would be tough the kids would be part vampire and know this and she either looks 16 for years or her magic wore off and she looks 99 so her looking Justin’s age would also not add up. But at the same time the show not giving his kids magic is also a fact that don’t add up

He said he was turning 34, but if it’s been the same amount of time since the og show has end, he would be 31, 32 at the oldest. Anyways, love your content Rebecca
maybe when the show is taking place was a huge oversight on the writer's part, because how old is the eldest kid? in Alex vs Alex, Justin wasn't in it because he was working at Wiztech then, and the incident that got him fired should've been within weeks or months after the fact; and meeting/marrying Giada and giving birth to Roman, at least a year after that. So the show's events, canonically, should be 10 years after the og show ended.
Justin Russo was 16 at the start of the original show. He would have turned 34 in 2025. So it’s a little off, but we’re pretty close to 2025 so I can forgive it.
Yeah Justin is supposed to be 3 years younger than David Henrie, but when they filmed this he was the exact same age as David. So maybe this takes place 3 years in the future. It kinda make sense since it’d be such a short span of Justin getting fired from Wiztech, breaking up with Juliet, meeting Giada, and having kids with her

yeah i only watched the first three eps and i couldn't do it. this reboot is not for the og fans and i can't handle the disney channel acting anymore
So what they are doing with this sequel series is actually within the same vein as Raven's Home, which is having a new generation while having a bunch of guest stars from the OG series throughout the span of the show. Believe it or not, this sequel series is actually made by the same people who've done Raven's Home... and also, these same people are apparently making another spin-off for the "That's So Raven" franchise going off of Raven's Home.
I already imagined that the sense of humor would be similar to Ravenshome's. They should have brought back the old writers, but the series isn't bad. It's good by modern Disney standards. Some things bothered me, but the series is good. I just hope they don't take 5 seasons to make a sequel worthy of Wizards like what happened with Ravenshome, which in my opinion only the fifth and sixth seasons are worth watching. When they returned to San Francisco, I hope that if there is a second season, the writers of the original series return to give a sense of naturalness to the stories. Billie Milo and Winter have potential, but they still seem a little stiff in their acting or forced. Sometimes it seems like they're reading a script when acting. I hope they improve.
I wish we would have gotten the OG cast as the main characters, but it was probably never going to happen. It would have ended up cancelled like the Lizzie McGuire reboot we were supposed to get because Disney doesn't want to lean into adult content.
That being said, I don't hate this series. Do I think it measures up to the original? No. But, it's kind of fun. I'm enjoying it more than I have some other shows Disney Channel has put out recently. Granted I also went into this show thinking it was going to be a dumpster fire so it's hard to be worse than what I thought it was going to be.

Harper (Stone) is not part of the cast due to the limited role of Alex (Gomez) whom Harper was primarily associated with in the OG. There's no hint on her appearance in the future, but there's still time to add her in later or make a guest appearance. Stone has expressed interest in reprising her role.

Some of your observations have lore basis. Like... Remember how their dad had to stop being a wizard in order to marry their mom? Justin can't have magic.
This would also explain why he can't be with a vampire, as that also had legal implications at some point in the show, which is why both of them wanted to keep their powers.
Also since none of their parents was the heir, and they were still wizards... Justin's kids are DEFINITELY wizards as well... Keeping the secret makes absolutely zero sense.
Also canonically Justin can't be with Harper cuz we meet her future self in the show and she's still obsessed with him (and confirms Alex and Mason are gonna be an ongoing thing in the future, before Mason is even introduced).
