- A singular moment in Marx Brothers movies, Groucho as Professor Wagstaff serenading Connie (Thelma Todd), who's trying to steal the football signals, in a canoe, with screen and song writers Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby's "Everyone Says I Love You", in HORSE FEATHERS ('32).

When my sister and I were kids, we had no idea what was going on in this scene, but we fell over ourselves laughing watching it. We quote it regularly.
got to appreciate Groucho playing his own guitar part for this. I'm probably not the first to notice that he doesn't throw the nice Gibson into the water though. (cut to Groucho holding a different, probably cheapo guitar)
He also plays a few chords on the guitar in "Monkey Business". I've heard him play on television and he's very good, but not so much in movies.
So it goes from Groucho and Gibson to Groucho and Cheapo.
@@BaronVonShrapnel Ah, yes, "Cheapo". One of the lesser-known Marx Brothers. hahahah
To Troubleclef: In _Welcome Back Kotter,_ Mr. Woodman suspects one of the Sweathogs, probably Barbarino, of cheating on a test. He says, "Groucho, Chico, and Flunko!" and Epstein throws a "Gookie" (Harpo-style funny face) and hangs his leg over Woodman's arm.😄
It's easy to spot. The Gibson he played was the top-of-the-line Gibson F-Holed guitar. The guitar he threw into the water had a simple sound hole, not F-Holed.
Football signals ! even 90 years ago they knew Michigan would be up to something.😮
We need songs like this 😂😉 today🤗💅🏼👍😻
I always give Groucho top marks
Banner ads ruin the ending.
Oh my god I forgot all the lines since I saw this many years ago. So hilarious 😅
No idea that lifesaver candy was that old.
Thelma Todd was a gem...
She was indeed a gem.
A great comedienne.
It’s sad that she died so young, and under such tragic circumstances.
Betty Boop in Blunderland sent me here.
Tragically, three year after this movie, Thelma Todd died while sleeping in her car inside the garage of the house that belonged to her married boyfriend who was a movie director. The cause of her death was carbon monoxide that was released from her car's engine that she had let it running while sleeping inside the car.
I can't believe he made a fart joke! At 1:56.
I want that guitar
And he thru it in the water. All we can hope is it went to someone off screen.
Wildest Ever
who wrote this song? I can't find it anywhere.
Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby.
1:32- Updated version of this joke: "Y'know, this is the first time I been out in a canoe since I saw Deliverance?!"
I don't get this new version
Groucho sounds so much like Hawkeye (in _M*A*S*H)._
NOT a coincidence! Alan Alda is a BIG Marx Bros. fan! He NEVER made a secret of that!
Youv'e got the order backwards.
Yeah...Alda did it great...they actually had a groucho scene in M.A.S.H.
the american tragedy? with monty clift and beth taylor?
Thought this was from Monkey Business??
I wanted a flat bottom but the girl at the boat house didn't have one.....
Groucho is really mean-spirited. When Thelma in the water begs him to throw the lifesaver he has on him to her to save her from being drowned, he throw the lifesaver branded little candy (it works as tik tok) into the water for her.
Abbott and Costello stole this gag in one of their movies.
