looking to get a setup with a rod exactly like the Loomis..for trout. How do you like the reel and how well has it matched up with the rod for castablility etc?

Mine is still the same as when I took it out of the box, buttery smooth. I even caught a jack crevalle on it and it's still the same. Take it back to where you got it and get a different one? Thanks for watching!
Shimano failed on 3 things on this reel to make it a global home run. 1. No folding handle like on many and previous models. 2. No service port. 3. No reverse. I do not care for it but some will. Nice review.
True, I made the mistake of putting too much line on it and it would cast worth a hoot. Finally cut off a bunch and now it works well. Thanks for the comment!
@@tabutog I have previous models of Stradic 1000 with folding handles as other models like Sahara, etc that all have folding handles for easy storage and nothing has ever broken and its been way over 15 years. I don't care for reverse but others may.
@@Sweetaccord its good to hear that the stradic's folding handle are strong, because im very particular to my fishing gear so it is an issue for me and sometimes small things like that deter me from buying stuff, i dont know maybe fear of the unknown?

@@fishermen22 just added another 6 to the existing, replaced plastic and copper bushings for bearings.
I literally have the same exact setup with the Loomis imx with this reel but mine is 7 feet. Love it!!

is it good for bass fishing or i need a bigger one like 2500 or 3000
I might go a little bigger for bass, maybe 2500. Just make sure you match it with a good rod. I already had the GLoomis so I stayed with the 1000.
How is the 1000 handling spotted trout?
I haven't caught any trout but a small sand bass felt like a hundred pounder.

8 lbs braid or mono? Braid yes, mono is a little heavy.
Does it stop making noise once it brakes in ? Just bought it and it doesn’t sound like it came greased

No folding handle means stronger handle and no reverse means less parts to break so for me its positive.
