Oh Toby, you never let me down... always throwing something into the water :) That looks like fun except I think I'd get lost! My partner would know the way though, he was a Queen's Scout so excellent at this sort of thing.
Good morning Leopards. I've been away from any half decent Wi-Fi signal, since your last upload, so just catching up on things now. As usual Mike, pretty obvious statement to make, but she's awesome country out there eh.? Yeah it rains. Wet rain, but it is what it is. Wettest tramp I did, was mid 60's as a young pup in my teens. Going between Rotoiti and Rotoroa, Nelson Lakes National Park, wearing jeans.!! Lessons learned that day. Never wear long jeans. Wet legs dry a damn sight faster, than wet jeans. Loved this episode mate. Thank you for emphasizing to overseas people, that you always replace the amount of wood you use, if not more. Problem with popular huts, is that you have to go further away to get that wood. Btw, I'm back here in Murchison, if you need a feed.! For a few nights. But will be spending the winter here, if that fits your plans.? Again great episode Mike. Good choice of music too. Take care Leopards. Spot you next time.
Some people are gross aye. So close to toilets yet they go outside and leave it for ppl to see. Awesome Video Mike Happy new year to you, the kids and soph ❤
how entitled are you aye, to go between the sleeping quarters and the toilet, when you only have to walk 50m in to the bush, make a little hole with a stick, cover it up, and no one would ever know... Happy new years bro, see you out there sometimes this year I'm sure.
At 0:53 famous last words haha. Your family are such troopers! Also caught that classic Toby move - carrying huge log to the middle of the bridge to drop it in. I know someone who is jealous. Also the classic Toby shirt backwards. Some things never change. Tell everyone we said happy new year!
yea famous last words alright, I guess these experiences just add to the memories aye. Yes Toby is still a ball of laughter, wearing his big rock shirt backwards, and chucking stuff into water. Happy New years to you all as well, hope you've had a great time.
ha ha, I was pretty happy to just chill at the caravan and let Soph and the kids tackle that one, , wanted to wake up at Mavora, on our last night, but good family memories.
Watching this, I reflected on my tramping days around the Urewera. My favourite was lake Waikerimoana. I had a good laugh at Toby tossing the log into the river. Thanks team 😊
epic walk in the rain eh!?!? so rad!!! poop in the woods lololololllolol jeez!!! tobes w the flat wrap & a log toss !!!!!! fantastic vlog bro! hope all is welll, see yah in the next 1 !!!!!!!
Thanks for your very worth while advice to all campers and hut users, regarding No.2's, it really is off putting and disgusting that people just do their business anywhere and don't even have decency to dig a hole and cover it. Good on you Mike for bringing the business to the fore. Sorry it was a wet hike in for you, but as we can see it did not deter any of you from having a great time, all part of the adventure eh? Have you been able to sample any of the yum summer stone fruit that is prolific around Cromwell etc. Hope you have. Thanks for a great video.
cheers mate, it gives me the rage when I see people leaving, their rubbish, and their human waste there for others to manage and move around, people should care about these places. We've been enjoying some fruit alright, we had some subscribers come and bring us some cherries, and we've been scoffing down apricots.
Half the time we wouldn't try to dry our boots as they would just get wet again on the first river crossing the next day! I used to love tramping in the rain, as long as it wasn't cold. but it is good character building for the kids, having to endure a little hardship helps them to appreciate the basic things in life. Tramping and other outdoor activities is such a good classroom for life, your kids are like at uni now!!!! and have progressed onto throwing logs into the river haha ... classic :-)
thank you, I agree that this experiences are so good for learning, about the great outdoors and life, I was definintley the one moaning about the wet, kids loved it lol...
So cool that theres ao many backcountry huts out there to stay in. Makes for a wonderful place to enjoy the scenery. Do you reswrve them ahead or are the first come/first serve? Awesome vlog fam. ✌️
hey mate, we have a set of walks called the great walks which need to be booked, but there's loads of these ones in the back country and high up in the mountains, which are often all yours, lots of options to make multiple day loops as well.
Hari tau hou kia kōtou te Whānau Leopard, nō Teresa!😍🫶🏿❤️Wow what a wet adventure, that is such an eat hut to walk to, thanks Mike for teaching us about back country etiquette! I love seeing the hobbits in action, did your guys shoes dry? I always enjoy your content 🎉🥳❤️
Thank you mate. it's so important to respect these places, aye, and leaving your mess for others to walk past is not acceptable. The shoes we're not dry lol...
Some people are just muppets. But it is always nice to have these little side ventures even if it did decide to rain. Weather can be so unpredictable at times.

Toby never disappoints aye. We need Sophie to help guide us or else we'll get lost too

I call it entitled, to think you can treat places with no respect like that. the weather yikes, story of our lives.
❤
thanks
I think I left a few bags of flour at that hut?? Are they still there??
we used them to make birthday cakes for the next trampers
Some tramping boots in the future
trail running shoes do pretty good, on these easier walks, and they dry fast. Def want boots and better ankle support if your going up into the tops.
thank you.
That lifelong milk sounds bad.
I don't even know the last time I had milk, I think i had a pack of noodles lol.
